i hope this deal is dead..then jeffries contract in 2011 becomes an asset instead of an albatross..curry's contract expires too..so we sign one f/a this summer, and keep hill, and 2011 and 2012 first rders..then next yr we turn around and trade the valuable expiring curry and jeffries contracts for mix of players/draft choices and sign another big fa summer 2011 like chris paul..that's the way to build a team..getting bosch and johnson and having no high 1st rders guarantees more lottery picks for other teams

yeah maybe we'll only have to give up 1 lottery pick instead of 3 to dump Fishlips next year.

I would also be interested to see us sign lebron and resign lee, mcgrady, and House. Then we could also look into a deal of Chandler for Augustine, and maybe use Curry to acquire a better center like Dampier now that the Mavs have Haywood.

C Lee, Damp
PF LeBron, Dorsey
SF Gallo, Bender
SG McGrady, House, Giddens
PG Augustine, Douglas

Something like that would be very interesting.

Giddens is out for the season, McGrady hasn't played this year and may not be able to play. D'Antoni will not play Curry and House cannot play the point because he can't handle the ball well enough. I liked Dorsey alot coming out of college but I am not sure that his game transfers to the NBA. Bender has shown that he really is not an nba caliber player anymore. I don't think that any of the moves are an improvement. I also expect the new excuse for the third highest paid coach in the nba will be that he cannot win with all of the roster turnover.

You gotta be kidding me, if you think curry has any chance of being a knick next season you should get your head examined, D'antoni hates him as much as everyone on this forum, Bender is done.
Now that lebron has jamison, he is most definitely staying.
Tyrus thomas is definitely a good addition as he showed us tonight. All we need is a real PG to throw some alleys to him. They need to stop showing lebron all this love and start showin D-WADE some love, he is just as good as anyone when he is on.
THE CORE IS GALLO,CHANDLER, everyone else is just a pawn on walsh's board. If mcgrady can come back and shine on the grandest stage of them all, and lebron and dwade stay where they are this is a nice roster for next yr

D'Antoni hates Curry more than anyone else on this forum. Curry actually was in better shape than he ever has been in his Knick tenure including during his big season w/Isiah but D'Antoni still would not play him. There are alot of themes that keep coming up with the Knicks coach and one is devalueing the teams assets.

Curry is not an asset. He is a ****ing albatross. Without doubt, the worst player in the NBA.

Curry is a piece of crap who shoulda been traded as soon as the season started, He never fit into the run and gun system, not agile enuff. Think of "bigmen" who like this system, D-lee who loves to run, stoudemire in phx tall lanky bastard who used to catch alleys and run up and down. Fat robotic curry is not built for d'antoni system.

At this point, the only system he's built for is Jenny Craig.

If donnie was smart he could trade harrington to the bulls for tyrus thomas, therefore ending any tmac to chicago speculation and making us the only bidders for tmac, and putting the ball on our court

Sources: Knicks confident in deal

The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets continue to work on a Tracy McGrady trade in advance of Thursday's 3 p.m. trading deadline, with three sources close to the process insisting late Wednesday that the trade can still be consummated in time even though the sides have clashed on some of the final parameters.

"I'm pretty confident," one source said Wednesday night.

McGrady
Sources say the Knicks are also increasingly interested in swinging a separate deal with the Chicago Bulls before the deadline that would send out Al Harrington in exchange for Tyrus Thomas and the expiring contract of former Knicks center Jerome James.

After Houston had narrowed the McGrady field Tuesday to the Knicks and Bulls as the only destinations for the disgruntled two-time scoring champion, Chicago began moving in different directions with its trade assets as Wednesday wore on. Sources say that the Rockets' trade energies were thus focused on trying to reach a consensus with the Knicks on the draft considerations needed to clinch an agreement without the involvement of a third team.

In exchange for taking back the Knicks' Jared Jeffries -- whose contract will pay as much as $7.6 million next season once a trade kicker is applied -- Houston is seeking three assets: New York's 2012 first-round pick, the right to swap first-round picks with the Knicks in the 2011 draft and Knicks rookie Jordan Hill.

Yet sources say New York balked Wednesday, even though shedding Jeffries' contract would enable the Knicks to sign two top-tier free agents this summer. The Knicks, source said, have conveyed to the Rockets that they're only willing to package two of those assets along with Jeffries and the $13.7 million expiring contract of Larry Hughes for McGrady's own expiring deal valued at $22.5 million.

Sources say the Knicks also want 1-to-10 lottery protection on any draft pick it surrenders to the Rockets, while Houston is pushing for the 2012 pick to be fully unprotected.

"We'd like McGrady and the cap relief," one Knicks source told ESPN.com's Chad Ford on Wednesday. "But the Rockets are asking for too much. We're willing to pay a premium to make a deal. But the price right now is still too high."

The Bulls' re-entrance in McGrady talks, meanwhile, is considered unlikely even though Houston remains open to the possibility, after Chicago struck a deal with Milwaukee involving guard John Salmons.

The Bulls pulled Salmons out of Wednesday's game in New York because of a pending trade that will send Salmons to the Bucks for the expiring contracts of Kurt Thomas or Hakim Warrick and Francisco Elson. Chicago has also had increasingly serious discussions with the Knicks on the Ty Thomas-for-Harrington front; Salmons and Thomas were both part of the Bulls' most recent McGrady offers.

Finding a home for Salmons' $5.8 million salary next season was huge for the Bulls, since it will give them sufficient salary-cap space to bid for a top-tier free agent to pair with All-Star guard Derrick Rose -- along with teams such as New York, Miami, New Jersey and the Los Angeles Clippers, who joined that enviable club by shedding the contracts of Al Thornton and Sebastian Telfair in a three-way trade earlier Wednesday that landed Antawn Jamison in Cleveland.

But Chicago has been shopping Thomas for weeks and is still intent on moving him, sources say, although the Bulls have been hoping to score at least one first-round pick for the enigmatic power forward.

The Knicks have offered the requisite expiring contract in Harrington -- who can also give the Bulls offense a jolt -- but are not offering draft considerations in a Thomas deal, sources said.

Since they traded Salmons, Chicago would need a scorer like Al pretty badly.

As per Stein:

Trade-deadline alert just filed to ESPN.com: Rockets have agreement in principal with Sacramento to acquire Kevin Martin

Deal could expand before Thursday's 3 p.m. deadline into a three-way trade scenario that lands Tracy McGrady in New York with Knicks

Although full trade details not yet known, one league source told ESPN.com that T-Mac will end up with Kings or Knicks by time deadline hits

yeah, certainly looks that way. The Kings arent going to want Jeffries, I dont see how a three-way trade works here.

Curry would not be a knicks, that's why he is traded in this scenario. Also, jamison helps the Cavs for a year, but this is a typical Cavs trade. Quick fix but once again probably doesn't put them over the top and definitely hurts them long term. Once again they are strapped with no flexibility. If Amare got traded to Cleveland then i would be more worried, but this trade doesn't do anything for the Cavs beyond this season.

Dammit DONNIE, wake up! There's still work to be done!

He was just looking down at a computer or something he was active in the stands all game. And seriously you guys have tired out the "old man" thing. Just cause he doesn't want to recycle our 60M expirings for every flashy malcontent in the league doesn't mean he's not doing his job. In fact that means HE IS DOING his job and doing it well.

And Anubis, Juice, GKF - you guys have been pessimistic to the point where it's like you wish for failure so you can rag on it. Not so sure why that's so appealing to you guys but it sure seems to make you happy. You guys hate every deal made and get upset at every deal that fails. It's business and this is how things work.

Layden made a mess, Isiah made it worse. Clearly their methods were failures. Donnie put an end to that way of business and has spent 2 years cleaning up the mess it created. When the mess is cleaned up then we will start to build a new team. It appears you guys thought the past two years should have been spent acquiring players - ala Isiah. No, see, first you tear down the mess. Then you start acquiring players.

That little tidbit seems a bit lost on some. Yet, that's what we are doing.

the gm/pres who started this mess was dave checketts when he traded ewing for a bunch of bad contracts instead of keeping ewing and letting his contract expire..checketts knew he was being pushed out the door by the cablevision regime and wanted to get in good with the then most powerful agent david falk,..he knew this would kill the knicks but wanted to put screws to cablevision and having falk owe him a favor when he joins another team
