He is driving more (usually off the pump fake or when he has a pick or his man is coming back to guard him), will get a rebound if he is in the area (boxes out well), and is actually one of the best defenders on the team. Please, watch the game against Cleveland, focus on Gallinari, and tell me that he is not a good defender. You will find some flaws, but he is probably the most aware defender on the team outside of Douglas, IMO. Count how many times his man scored, and I am not talking about him coming over to guard someone else's man on a rotation, which he also does well.
The guy has to get stronger (as do some other players on the Knicks), and he will gain some quickness as his body hardens, but he is already an intelligent defender.
