Really well said, Kam. So you no longer stand by your position that the second year of college should be a requirement?

I think the NBA should allow HS Seniors every year to put their name in for the draft. If they elect to go to College, i want a rule that keeps them in school for at least two years. I just don't like the one and done.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

To oohah's argument I'll say it again: the NBA should not feel obligated for high school basketball players.

That was not my argument.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Have you heard Garnett talk lol

Have you seen Kobe talk? Anyway, we are not debating the merits of their academic abilities, they are basketball players.

Plenty of these players who go to college don't speak well either; It would be nice if they all took education seriously but the fact of the matter is that a majority of players at the major college level are not there to be students. They are unpaid professionals. This is what I have been trying to get across to you all along.

Right now there is no realistic options in the states.

Correct and unfortunate.

Bippity10 wrote:The reason as Bitty stated is that these teams lose money, so the NBA is reluctant to build these leagues. If there was a clear benefit and profit this would have been done already.

I'm sorry Bippity but that is a totally fallacious argument. The NBA is not god they do a lot of things wrong because of stubbornness, etc.

Bippity10 wrote:But there is no benefit so why is there an obligation for the NBA to pay for it?

There is a benefit. The game is eroding. If the top professional basketball league takes interest in developing players - like in every other sport with the exception of football - the NBA can better assure the quality of their own product. That is their benefit.

And it makes more sense for the young players to develop at a lower pro level than to engage in corruption and deceit in order to qualify and maintain eligibility at the college level.

I'm telling you college-affiliated club teams sponsored by pro teams is the solution. Players can take their pay as money or education. +We get to hold on to the college teams we love. +Non-students don't have to pretend to be students. + players can develop without feeling they have to make a premature dash to the pros to support their families and earn. +Corruption dries up. Everybody stays happy.
