Gallanari is taller and a better shooter than TT

where in practice? (I know, low blow) Currently he is nowhere near as physically strong as Tim Thomas
Posted by crzymdups:

i bet you Wilson is taller than Diaw, with a similar skill set. Diaw played center for D'Antoni but before that the Hawks played him as a guard.

I'd bet they are the same height with Diaw weighing more. Diaw and KT are the same size however he was real light in the ass when Atl drafted him.

Very few players look as strong as TT (although I don't know how strong he actually is). It doesn't matter though because he doesn't take advantage of his size and strength.

From Hahn's blog----Sign-and-trades? As we've been telling you here for months, the Knicks would need to be blown away. Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake ain't getting it done (and, according to sources I have talked to has never been offered).

Berman? So it must be true

considering the source I didn't buy it either. However there are a like 2 pages worth of posts with guys cross assuring themselves that Lee for Blake and Outlaw is a good deal (someone even used the word steal) for the Knicks

Is that representative of everyone here, or is that just a couple guys that feel that way.
I just hope that people will like me

just a few posters.

hahn's latest on the grant front:
And though we were told the Knicks did not make a formal offer to Grant Hill, but simply discussed parameters, Hill's camp seemed to make sure those "parameters" were publicized in Phoenix, so the Suns could see what they were up against. According to the Arizona Republic, the Knicks put two proposals on the table for Hill to consider: a one-year windfall for $5M (just under the $5.8M mid-level exception) or a three-year committment for a total of $10M (about $3.3M per).

The Republic says the Suns were also planning to use some of its mid-level to re-sign Hill and that the 36-year-old veteran was likely choosing between the two. Or perhaps, like with Kidd, Hill would prefer to stay in Phoenix but had the Knicks' interest in his back pocket to make sure the Suns ante'd up.

Considering the doomsday prophecies with the anticipated salary cap situation in 2010-11, perhaps it's best the Knicks not have to make a three-year committment to Hill, who would eat up $3.3M on the 2010 payroll. Then again, any signings that Walsh makes this summer will have to motivate him to move Eddy Curry and/or Jared Jeffries to clear their much larger numbers off the 2010 ledger.

Let's just play 5 SFs.

D'Antoni has said he would like a team of 5 6'9" guys who can shoot, pass and run the floor. (Don't think he mentioned defense)
hey.. he won 54 games and made it to the conference finals before losing to the Mavs 4-2.
He played 4 guards and 3 SFs

Rotation was
(guards) Nash, Barbosa, Eddie House and Raja Bell
(small forwards) Marion, Diaw, James Jones

sprinkle in a little Tim Thomas and Kurt Thomas but the top 7 played all the minutes and were 2 wins away from playing the Heat in the finals. I bet with Raja Bell guarding Wade the Suns do better than the Mavs did.

All that with No Amare.

But that "system" cant win games in the playoffs?

i didn't say that. i like mike. just saying his ideal basketball team is 5 6'9" guys who can shoot, pass and run the floor.

though his system never got him by san antonio. i think a good offense always gets beat by a good defense in the finals. i think it's probably foolish to completely ignore the defensive side of the ball as he does.

also i think his philosophy clashes pretty severely with donnie's and i think we may have seen that in the draft the last few years.

[Edited by - crzymdups on 08-07-2009 12:35 PM]

He don't have to get by San Antonio now, and when we get close to the Conf final caliber we can worry about toughtness.

Let not forget nobody was toughter than our sluggo Oakley knicks of the 1990s and they too did not win a title. Not tougher than Chicago and could get thru larry's Pacers either.

Phoenix fell prey to the "off the bench Suspension" like we did with Miami in the year we had it all together. THat team was destined to win it all until they got slapped by SA and the suspension to Amare

Shit happens.

Not Rubio, Not bosh, if one or both were to make it this year could provide the kind of locker room presence that Hill could bring.

Larry Hughes? Duhan (should but can't yet)?

Oh, we forgot about NATE!!!!! Nay Nate the locker room jester.

Stat and Diaw got suspended for 1 game with the series tied 2-2. They still had 2 games to pull it out.

there may not be a San An but there is this little old fella to contend with for the next decade:

and MDA's current strategy in defending big men

doesn't bode well for a team trying to get out of the East.

yeah, but nate beat him in the dunk contest.

McK1, you're just mad we didn't get Luke Ridnour to be our PG of the future back in 2006, aren't you?

not as mad as the 95% of you who thought Marbury was a top 5 pg in the summer of 05, liked the Frye pick, thought getting Crawford was a great idea and he would be an all-star, liked the Balkman pick, liked the Curry trade, thought the Brown signing would bring NY back to prominence, or thought Isiah had a clue in general

i hated larry brown with a passion from day one.

i also seem to remember you favoring lowry over rondo.

what's done is done. grant hill won't change a ton, but he's part of the culture change we're trying to achieve that will help guys like wilson and gallinari hit their potential. walsh kept reggie miller in the starting lineup FAAAAAAAAR past his prime in indiana to guide the kids and it worked pretty well.

hope you were including Tim Thomas in that top 7 for play-off minutes

Even still Tim Thomas only plays in the area between half court and the three point line

obviously you've never seen tim thomas play in a contract year

I'll feel a lot better with Grant Hill here, knowing the locker room is being patrolled.

Rumor has it that nobody can make a "rat tail" with a towel to keep discipline in a locker room like Hill can.

Even Malik wasn't as good at it? Wow, we're in for a treat then.

Walsh must be NY's biggest supplier of E pills. In the past 2 days people have come to the conclusion that Blake and Outlaw for Lee is a steal for NY and free agents are going to be beating down the Knicks door because of the presence of 37 yr old Grant Hill.

Now, I'm with you are that Portland deal nonsense. There were way too many people here co-signing moving Lee for that garbage package for my liking.

Dont know if I'm crazy about Hill getting a multi-year deal, because I dont see much from him beyond '09...but the money is so reasonable and the signing is very symbolic.

I honestly dont see him passing up Boston and an opportunity for a ring. I'd be pretty surprised at least.

You serious? The word steal was used sarcastically by someone (Sebstar I think) who was against the deal.
