Can't deny superstar talent when you see it, and I see it. How can someone not see Rubio, the franchise pg? He's too smooth, like Pete Maravich.

How can he be smooth like Maravich if Pistol Pete was not only known for his fancy passes but his sweet jumper and the ability to get open to take it. On the flip side Maravich put no effort into playing defense while this is suppose to be Rubio's biggest asset. Kidd is a better comparison but Rubio doesn't rebound nearly as well as Kidd. Also, Rubio's turnovers whether anyone wants to admit it or not even keeps him out of any real Kidd comparisons.

This kid is only 17! Was Maravich playing with the pros at that age? No!! This kid is special otherwise he wouldn't be this famous.

Maravich averaged 44pts per game in college. Tell me he's smooth like Jamal Crawfod and i might believe you but don't mention Maravich.

I want to upchuck when someone says Pistol Pete. And Pistol pete wasnt even a 2 pick! I think Pistol Pete had more points in a game than Rubio had his whole season at LSU in his sophomore year.

And here is my gripe. Pistol Pete was more about flair than substance--Pistol Pete was NOT a winning ball player. I mentioned this about Rubio as well--yes he has some innate ball skills but is this kid a guy who will be a winner or flash over substance?

you really would have to believe that he is flash over substance at this point and on top of it no stats to back him up.

Honestly there could be 5-6 PG that end up better than Rubio. You are really going on pure projection. I think he is in for one helluva shock when he sees the speed of the NBA game and the team who picks him might be in for a shock as well. I do NOT want to spend one asset moving up to get this guy--what the hll for?

There also his contract situation has to be dealt with and nobody knows what going to happen with ricky rubio contract situation. No team that is in the lottery can afford a top 14 pick to stay over seas especally us we can't afford this because we don't have pick, this coming season we have to make to playoffs no question asked, and we don't know what our roster is going to look like next season. This ricky rubio has a lot of issues and he is to much drama I say if somehow he is there at 8 we shouldn't draft him if he is there.

How would an anti-Rubioite explain his terrific performance against Team USA?

Rubio only averagped 7points 3 assist on 33 percent shooting in his 2 games aginst team usa. When did 7 points 3assist 33 percent shooting became great numbers because I don't see that has great numbers. If he scored 20 points and average 10 assist game against team usa then I would give him some credit but he didn't put up those numbers.

Really? I don't know if I can believe that. Remember how much praise he received? All the NBA ballers were propping him.

If he really had those numbers then I don't know about him. But the Spaniards are crafty, look at Pau Gasol. He can really put it in high gear and prove the haters wrong.

Stop with the Olympic sht--two words Patrick Mills---he really played well against the USA--had a very decent stint in American college and might not even be picked in round 1.

I did some searching and I found Ricky Rubio euroleague stats from his team DKV Joventut of 3 years. Ricky rubio first year 2006-2007 in 16 games he averaged 4 points 3 assist and 2 rebounds. Here is the link for proof. http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?seasoncode=E2006&clubcode=JOV&pcode=LFW
Ricky Rubio second year the 2007- 2008 he average 8 points 5 assist and 3 rebounds in his 16 games he start in 10 games. I got the link for proof. http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?seasoncode=U2007&clubcode=JOV&pcode=LFW
In the 2008- 2009 season he had a broken wrist injury but he played in 5 games and he averaged 2 points, 3 assist, and 2 rebounds he also started in 2 games. Here is the link for proof. http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?seasoncode=E2008&clubcode=JOV&pcode=LFW
Bradon jenning euroleague stats in 16 games he started in 7 games in the 2008-2009 season and he averaged 8 points 2 assist and 2 rebounds. I also have the link for proof.

And Mck1 lets be honest, you're the biggest Marbury homer here. Theres no wonder you are in love with Jennings, they are one in the same.

Edit: I'm still waiting for all those playoff teams to be lined up to sign Marbury too..

don't force me to go trueblue on here and pull up the Marbury-Nash debate in 05.

I thought and maintain MDA was a fool for not attempting to rehab Steph's trade value. At that time my comment was at least we'll have a shot at drafting Jennings, even made it my sig. Unfortunately, MDA has too much "You Got Served" bravado to even tank right.

as for the playoff...where were you when this happened?

from the 1:00-1:22 is what makes Jennings special. theres also some highlights of him and Love on their AAU team

Globetrotter dribbling, but he should have passed off much earlier than he did- the play actually shows the best and worst of his game.

Does not show much going to his right, by the way, at least in this set of highlights.

globetrotter dribbling???

they tried to trap him at mid court with 3 guys. he picks that ball up right there its a turnover.

4 seconds and about 8 dribble moves later he left those same 3 guys falling over each other without changing his dribble stance or giving up his position on the court.

he has highlights of him going right in other youtube clips. This particular feature was short and to the point about what IMO will make him special on the next level

[Edited by - McK1 on 06-13-2009 11:00 PM]
It shows that he had his head down and was not aware of the situation on the court. In 1 second he could have gotten the ball to one of his 4 teammates who were hanging around the basket being guarded by a single opponent. Any coach who watches this will say that Jenning's ball handling was amazing, but his decision making was foolish, if not idiotic.

I don't think I would trade up for him either, although I would move to #5 for Curry. I don't think that MDA could live with Rubio's jumper.

Nevertheless, I think he will be a special player, although I doubt that he will ever average much over 15 PPG, and never reach 20 PPG. How would a 15 PPG, 12 APG, 6 RPG, and 3+ SPG line be for him? And that would be assuming that his jumper does not develop.

A lot of his game involves flair, but his flair involves getting others the ball, not scoring. I think his jumper will come around- his shot seems flat at times, but he has good form.

Some of his ball handling and passes remind me of Maravich, but he is not as selfish a player. If he had Maravich's jumper, by the way, I would take him at #1 without hesitation.

what would be your critique of Nash in the first sequence of this mix. Bell was open well before he threw the pass, then the pass itself - what coach would advocate how Nash attacked the situation?

PS
footage of Jennings in this mix going right

on PS3 or XBox 360, very doable.

real life cut each prediction in half, maybe you can boost points to 9 and thats what Rubio will be for his career if he ever even comes to the US.
