If an opposing team's fan came onto this board they would think we have the worst fans in the NBA.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I'm originally from the West Coast. A lot of my old time friends are Seattle or LA sports fans. They actually think all NY fans are great fans. My LA friends think we are far better fans than they have in LA They tend to think we are passionate and loyal. Obnoxious, but good fans. They do however make fun of Knicks, Rangers, Jets, Mets fans a lot. They say that those fans all think they are the Yankees. They think that the world owes them championships today just because they are from NY. They harken back to the Steinbrenner of the 70's days when he was firing managers left and right and now we think that this is the best way to do business. If you don't win, scapegoat and fire. This is why we have no titles and why less and less players want to play here. Not saying that's how all fans view us. Not saying they are correct. But this is how my group of friends think

Boston fans just think we are a-holes. I say, right back at em.

I mean from the standpoint of insulting a 20 year old kid with a back injury.

Gallinari closer. Danilo Gallinari, who worked up a heavy sweat in shooting and light contact drills during practice yesterday, said he is feeling the best he has since the summer when he suffered a disc protrusion during the July summer league. But the Knicks rookie, who said he is still feeling some pain in his leg as a result of a nerve issue related to the injury, isn't sure how soon he will be ready to get back on the court. "It's improving," he said.

Improving? Seriously, he's had like 6 months basically of rest. Is he not doing any kind of exercise for his back?

A nerve is a serious thing. Forget about resting! He might have to retire. Forget it. It's another blown draft. Gallinari is no more. It's over. Believe me, it's over. He'll never be healthy. This just makes not drafting a center a bigger issue.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Yes, his career is over. He is on a plane back to Italy as we speak. Press conference tomorrow to announce his retirement. Shame he had to retire so young.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Two quick comments:

1) I don't think Gallo had a back problem before he joined the team. Something happened after the draft. We can't really what the straw was that broke the camel's back (well, Gallo's), but based on what we know either he pushed himself too hard and tweaked the back while working out... or he tweaked the back as a result of bumping w/ Traylor.

2) Note that Brook Lopez recovered from back surgery to repair a herniated disc. This *may* explain why he's less athletic (at least laterally) than his twin. That may also have been a factor as to why he wasn't drafted in the top 9 picks. In addition, skill is skill, back surgery or not. He's still demonstrably a better player than Robin.

Gallo: 2 Weeks Away

Yeah, we've heard it before, but apparently that's the case.

Should be cleared in 2 weeks for full contact drills.

Has been going 1-1 with Allan Houston recently. A 15 minute game between the two today in fact.

Has done walk throughs and runs with the team.

Having Allan Houston declare you healthy is like the soul of Richard Nixon telling George W. he's doing one hell of job.

What is the big deal? Gallo says he is feeling better and there is SOME pain in his leg. The fact that his back isn't bothering him anymore sounds like good news to me.

i am a medical doctor. gallo is describing sciatica, pain shooting down his legs due to a herniated disk, which is never a good thing.

Guys...I have had a sore back for a while now....it gets better....then every so often I hurt it again. Please advise me on whether or not I should get surgery. Thank you.

sore backs are chronic. no surgery unless you have other symptoms - and your spine specialist recommends surgery

I was attacked by in September for stating what Gallinari stated about his back. He said that he was told that this was a problem he will have because he has a bad back and will need to do back exercises for the rest of his career. I basically said he has permament bad back that will only feel better after long periods of rest. I was jumped on because I asked how can someone with a bad back withstand 82 games and in that reasoning he is a draft bust because he is damaged goods. Nothing reported today has changed that opinion.

Comparing your back situations to his is ridiculous because you aren't expected to compete in a grueling schedule like he will be asked to. He is resting now but more than likely as soon as he plays extended minutes won't the situation begin to get worse again.

I don't expect to hear Walsh admit the error until 2 or 3 more years down the road ala Jonathan Bender.

gallo got bendered

nobody knows for sure but king's indicating he's not gonna play this year.

not playing a year b/c of a torn acl is one thing.
not playing a year b/c of back pain at 19 is another.

best to proceed w/o him in the plans for the time being.

dude has sciatica. that's not "back pain" anymore.
