right now the only way Isiah can make any sense of this one is to get rid of Jefferies, Turd, Nate & Q Rich for Ron Artest in my eyes... that at least offsets some of the added cap he just took on, for the '09 season anyway.

C - Curry / Morris
PF - Zach / Lee / Malik
SF - Artest / Balk / Chandler
SG - Jamal / Jones
PG - Marbs / Dickau
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I was just watching video of Zach Randolph over at youtube and he is a different type of offensive player than Eddy. I could see the ball starting off with Eddy on the low post, He will be double teamed, so you kick it out and swing it around where Zach will either be posting on the other block or waiting to put it on the floor and go right by his guy.
He is a decent passer and can really take it to the whole.

Can we send Dan Dickau to the Hawks for a future 2nd rounder?

so we're adding $61 million dollars in salary due to Zach Randolph over the next 4 seasons, & SAS is ranting about how Isiah was able to unload Steve Francis' contract, which is roughly about half contract wise in dollars & length of years???

then we throw in Channing Frye to get back 2 expiring contracts of Fred Jones & Dan Dickau, 2 young players who haven't done much of anything in the NBA since they were drafted themselves.

sorry if i don't jump up & down over this one... i would have much preferred to simply buy out Steve Francis & trade Frye in a deal to get Ron Artest... at least his deal expires the same season as Marbs, & he'd actually add a dimension to this team that we NEED.

oh brother... Zach Randolph is now a NY Knick... the 1 guy i would have thought Isiah would not be crazy enough to trade for, & he goes & does it.

Stole the words from my brain.

Dude cap room doesnt win games. We need a power forward with a jump shot a couple of steps inside the three point line, a rebounder, and a secondary post threat to Curry. That is exactly what we got. You have to be insane to not like this trade. If you are still cheering for cap room then go get another freaking team to follow. Only completely delusional people are still hoping that we are going to start clearing for cap. GIVE IT UP. This is a good move, we now have THE front court of the east.

Curry
Randolf
Lee
Crawford
Marbury

Lets go.

hey guys, I hate this too, but on paper Frye is a good player to have on the floor with Curry and... he wasn't.

The one thing I can see is that Curry always operates from the low right post and Zach is usually on the high left post.

Good luck to Steph driving through that mess.

I think Craw benefits from this because nobody is going to double the guards and Balkman probably will be able to slash through the fatties for rebs.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Ewwwwwwwww.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Isiah Thomas has now managed to acquire every NBA player I've hated for the past 5 years.

how about you go F yourself instead? i think that's a better idea.

if you're not interested in cap room, that's your problem... Zach Randolph is NOT bringing us a championship... i'd much rather have waited out the contracts & have at least a marginal shot at guys like Lebron or Kobe in 2 years time, rather than be hunkered down with this current roster for the next 4... if you don't like that point of view, find another freakin' post to comment on.

You guys aren't analyzing this in context.

WE DIDN'T NEED RANDOLPH!
if you want to analyze it in context we got destroyed at PF last year. Lee's rebounding was the only thing we had going at that position all year. Zach is a monster upgrade as a starter both scoring and on the boards. He's got a good face up game so its not an impossible pairing w/ Curry. Not ideal, but in context the Knicks got much better at a position that was a weakness last year.

Hard to debate that no?

dont really see it working out, but oh well. IT probably figured, go for broke. If it works, great, but if not, he's gonna get fired either way in a year or so - it'll be someone else's problem.

You're looking at it through rosey sunglasses.

How about the cap?

How about team chemistry?

How about minutes?

I never said I liked the trade, only that it does make sense on some levels (thus the 'context')

Why are minutes a problem? Zach starts at PF and gets 35+
Who on our team is better? Lee? We were terrible at PF last year. I suspect Zach and Curry start and Lee backs up both. Thats for the coach to decide.

Interesting how some of the posters here thought that Randolph is great for the Nets...
It's simple: The one thing the Nets needed most was low-post scoring. The one thing we needed least was low-post scoring. So of course we overspend for low-post scoring.
