Solace,

Making the finals? You must be joking with me now. I don't get how we were supposed to do that all of a sudden. Your hopes are very high, i'll give you that. But basketball is a sport. Its not Burger King. You can't have it your way because you haven't won since '73.

LOL. Dear God, we need a translator.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

mistearl again with nothing ****ing relevant to say, refute what i said then, realistically put them ahead of those teams then.....

I think the ceiling for this team is 46 wins, unless drastic changes are made, the bottom of the conference is only getting stronger....

Lets just say for instance the 7th and 8th seeds finish with sub 500 records, philly gets hot and takes the knicks.....we are acting like a miracle heave cured all our problems

MS, changes will be made. You act like this team is not going to change in composition for the next 5-10 years. No one disputes that we have to make more personnel moves to get this team to the next level, and I am fairly confident that IT knows this better than anyone. No one here is accepting mediocrity. But we do realize that change takes time and to go from 23 wins and a totally negative atmosphere to 38-40 wins and a playoff appearance, is a good thing that we should be happy about.

Next year the bar will be set higher and the team will have to prove all over again that it is going in the right direction and IT is probably going to have to make some moves to balance out the roster. But again, IT knows that and I have no doubt is already identifying players that will work better with our team. So enjoy the playoff race this year and look forward to improvement next year. If it does not happen, then you can call for IT's head, but all the negativity now seems to ignore the positives that this season has generated.

Solace - every REAL fan?

as opposed to fair-weather, bandwagon-jumpin', "I want my championship or I'm throwin' a tantrum...", "Dolan sucks", trade all our dreck for all-star franchise players, "Isiah sucks", "Marbury sucks", "Frye sucks", "how can you start this guy over THAT guy?", "I woulda drafted that guy over the guy we got", fans?
just trying to get it clear.

Earl, these are the same people that will love the team when they are good again. Your comment was absolutely priceless.

Solace,

Will you say the same thing when we are in 7th place?

If we're below .500, yes. Simple math.

Ahh but 7th place is closer to the top than the bottom.

Ahh but right now they're closer to the bottom than the top of the entire league.

Right now yes, but If we take over 7th in the East, there will be 14 teams better than us, and 15 teams worse.

You are such a dork.

Why? because your original arugment doesn't work if we move up one spot?

patience under jim dolan:

layden: 4 years
sather: 8 years

total playoff apperances: 2
total playoff game wins: 2 (knicks/raptors 2000)

patience is not a virtue under jim dolan.

No, because that WASN'T MY original argument. I argued record, not ranking. Reading is fundamental.

NYT

>>...the Knicks under Thomas have grown into a competitive, united, extraordinarily resilient team. Whereas Brown alienated most of the locker room, Thomas has restored the team’s confidence and given it a renewed focus.

Eddy Curry is having his best professional season. David Lee has blossomed into one of the league’s best rebounders. And Stephon Marbury, who openly feuded with Brown, has redefined himself as a team-oriented point guard.

Bill Parcells

"You are what your record says you are."

29-34

The 8th best team in the east.

Still closer to the bottom than the top.

You know what all this arguing proves about the Knicks?

We are a mediocre team.

I will surely admit we're a mediocre middling mid-level, middle-of-the-road team. Check out this post from nyknicks12 in the NYtimes forum
In the games I've seen this year, approximately the same number of games as last season, I can see a big difference in Stephon Marbury that does not necessarily reflect in his numbers.

He doesn't tune out of the game when he is on the bench. He is demonstrably more vocal on the floor. He gives "attaboys" to his team mates and from my observation his game reflects a "What do you need me to do? What will help us win?" attitude.

Right now this team is exactly positioned where it should be given the level of talent and experience going out on the floor... they ain't bad. And NOT BAD was the best we could legitimately hope for this season. I may not have posted much this year, but I have been consistent in using "Not bad" as my measuring stick.

This is where this team should have been last year. This year they should have had a reasonable EXPECTATION to a. Make the playoffs and b. Do better than one and done.

This team as presently constructed should have been an OK to Pretty Good team this season, but that would have been unjustly ignoring the god-awful clusterfreak of last season.

It is TOTALLY evident that last season may be laid squarely at the feet of Larry Brown - whose hiring I supported.

Isiah brought these players here and has sold them on his vision.

Sometimes it ain't pretty, but there ain't no quit in this squad.

As the Answer Man used to say,

"These guys don't do nuttin' easy."

Throw out last season's disaster and Isiah has not only raised the Knick ship of state from the floor of the Atlantic (division), he has it gaining steam and going in the right direction.

The dude deserves props.

You misinterpreting is not MY fault. I clarified in later posts for those who misunderstood. Just because you refuse to acknowledge it doesn't mean it didn't occur. Now STOP telling me WHAT I MEANT, when I repeatedly clarified for you braindead morons. Thank you.

Manhattan, NEW YORK -- A disgruntled man in a New York Islanders jersey and clutching a voo doo doll said to be in the likeness of Knicks owner James Dolan was talked out of jumping from the top of the Empire State Building today, hours after Isiah Thomas was given a contract extension.

Upon leaving the building in hand cuffs, the man shouted at reporters "I want them to lose all their games! Down with Dolan!"

It is reported that this man is the same person who was escorted out of both of Mr. Dolan's concerts this summer for being loud, unruly, and disruptive.

Isles must have stuck them needles in backwards cuz my ass was hurting all day long!

We are 29-34 for the season or from November. 23-23 from December until now, 16-14 from Jan until now , 9-6 from feb until now.

I have one question? Does that show steady improvement throughout the season, or no? Are those #s that fans are allowed to be happy about, or no? Maybe this team keeps winning maybe they fall off. But after going through what we all did last season them playing this well as of late is a breath of fresh air.

Im kinda mad a little though because we should be on an 8 game win streak right now by beating NJ, Boston, & Sea.

I do think it is to early for Dolan to be handing out an extention though. He should have waited until after the season.

Yeah - What if we go winless the rest of the way?? Why not wait to make the announcement? This is like leaving picks you traded unprotected thinking things will never go from bad to worse. Well it did once, and it can again. Dolan ever learn?
