Curry has been playing the most minutes of his career and someone choses to bash him over his big butt? Yes he's a bit fat still, but have you been watching this guy move? Even fat he's still faster than a lot of the guys guarding him. IT's amazing how he can take guys off the dribble or spin around guys so easily. In fact if not for all the double teaming he'd be even more dominant. Just imagine how this guy is gonna be when we finally get an outside threat or two?

On this trip teams have not only doubled him but triple teamed him. He's the most dangerous big in the East, not named Shaq, cuz if you DON'T double him he WILL score and foul out your frontline.

I think you can include Shaq in that statement...Shaq is washed up.

Did someone say that Curry's in game shape? He's in better shape, yes, but watching him at MSG made it clear that he's not in full game shape. He's in shape for, say, 20-30 minutes but not 40-45 minutes. He can kinda play after 15 minutes of game time--and he's still the best Knicks center for however minutes--but he's slow and less helpful defensively after 15 minutes. Other players have their ups and downs, and Frye's doesn't have much more wind than Curry, but most of the non-Curry players get second and third winds even if they are tired. Curry just winds down. It's tempting to write it off to spotty conditioning but it seems more likely that he's not far off from his peak average condition, given injuries, etc. If he's going to improve drastically, he's going to have to play smarter and depend on better passing, better timing, and more efficient footwork/off-ball play. One positive sign, IMO, of Curry's improvement is that he is much smarter about fouls, even if his foul shooting stinks, this year than last. He's more likely this year to get fouled for just holding the ball under the basket, which is a workable tactic against some teams in the last couple seconds of the shot clock. Don't get me wrong, I've been pleasantly surprised by Curry's play but I think he gets a pass for being in shape just because he's on the court for more minutes.

Any player can be in better shape...i think if youre trying to make the case that Curry is not in game shape youre just wrong...put it this way, the Second biggest Knick hater on the planet, Mike Breen, even commented on it during the game.
I fixed it for you, I'll Say Larry East Side Family All Now hates the Knicks more.

btw, in the 1st quarter last night, we could've easily been down 15 points again. portland missed 6 open jumpers - jumpers that better teams were hitting against us all year long. we still had problems passing out of the double and we played zero defense. but portland just wasn't good enough to take advantage like sac, lac, and pho before them.

the good sign is that the knicks smelled blood in the water and attacked instead of lollygagging. but there was a point again in the 4th when the knicks gave portland every opportunity to get back into the game but they couldn't put together a run.

seattle is a better team than portland and has a WAY better backcourt with ray and luke (along with earl off the bench). not having rashard is a huge loss for them.

it's going to be close, and jamal will probably go nut (since he's from seattle) so the knicks should win it.

I know this is going to sound like a broken record - but this is one of the reasons Lee needs to start. We need to set the tone early and Lee helps us get out to a good start and seems to help get Frye going earlier.

EDDY & CRAW WILL BE KEY...esp Eddy- apparently the sonics are soft, esp on the interior:

From Seattle Post-Intelligencer:

This past summer, it seemed as if the Sonics were set in the frontcourt. They had Robert Swift, Johan Petro, Chris Wilcox, Nick Collison, Danny Fortson and first-round pick Mouhamed Sene to man the middle. But Tuesday's 112-88 loss to the Dallas Mavericks was the latest example that the Sonics are soft in the middle and are going to be hard pressed to make a postseason run with their current group.

The Sonics dont have any rebounders on their team. Wilcox is proving that his rebounding is inconsistent and only comes when he is scoring. Wilcox needs to show that he can contribute in other ways when his shot is off. He missed six of seven shots in the first quarter and that was it. He played less than 13 minutes and scored two points.

From the Seattle-Times:

The Sonics shot 50 percent (36-of-72) from the field against Houston's league-leading scoring defense. But the Rockets outrebounded Seattle 41-32, the 24th time Houston has won the battle of the boards.

While general manager Rick Sund privately drafts and entertains trade proposals for a center, coach Bob Hill talked about the team's hope of adding a big man while explaining why the Sonics are off to a rocky start.

"Everybody knows we need a starting center," he said Wednesday before Seattle's 103-96 defeat at Houston. "That's what we need to get back to where we were last spring. If we could just find a starting center that would solve a lot of problems.

And Luke Ridnour's wrist is sort of hurt too according to these articles. BUT, ya never know with these Knicks...we are the #1 rebounding team in the league however, Ray-Ray will probably light us up along with someone like Damien Wilkins.
