Craw still has the scent of Larry on him.

He is likley confused and out of sorts given the turmoil surrounding Franbury.

I took tonite off and did not watch any sports. Just chilled and caught a flick.

Looks like Franbury are settling into roles. The Assests look nice.

Its about the big men now.

jamal was more measured all of last year, but he really only played well at the end when Steph was sitting out with sore knees and jamal had the starting spot. by then, because of the way Brown used him almost exclusively at the point, and mostly with the second unit, by that time of year, when most of the veterans were sitting,he felt comfortable in the PG role, and leadership role of the youth movement.

Now his role is confused again. Isiah has him in there at both positions, or in some netherworld combo position, and he tweaks him in practice about having a "button' he can switch to come in hot, and until last week or so he was our go-to gunner.

jamal is a good kid but he is not a smart player. he needs someone riding him to be ethusiastic and confident while also being conservative, and he really needs a clearly defined role. Since being here his position has shifted by seasons; 04/05 = starting SG, 05/06 BU PG, 06/07 backup combo go-to gunner.

And to make matters worse, he was similarly adrift in his time in chicago.

I can't say I know how to best utilize him, but the comments I've seen from his sister's realgm account tell me he's not happy playing backup to stiffbury, and i can't imagine he feels secure in his role or stability here, and as far as i can see he might be en route to his worst season since he's been here.

He's someone we either need to learn how to use properly or trade him for someone more stable. he's essentially at the point in his career that Fugazy (TT) was when we brought him here, and we know how well that worked out.

Sadly, "a fugazy' might be the best overall description of the kind of players Isiah excels at obtaining. it's okay to have one or two enigmas on a team, but you can't go far with so many at your core (Marbury, Francis, Nate, Jamal, Jerome, Frye? Eddy? etc)

I'm totally with you there with the assessment about Jamal...Isiah is having him play between both worlds where he is a gunner when out back court is cold and a distributor when the front line is getting off...Either way Jamal is a professional and needs to learn these roles because that is what's expected of him...It's difficult true, but he seems to be the type that needs someone riding to have him play in control at all times..That said, it took him some time to get this last year with Larry and he might need some time to adjust in the new offense where Curry is the first option...If Jamal can be that microwave off the bench/controlled point guard then we may have the makings of something special...The problem with this Knick team is that everyone outside of Q is trying to find their niche..The faster of course the better for all of us...It's a really thin line we are walking..Isiah is holding that line for now...

See, this is the problem I have with our backcourt. Everyone should have had found their niche a long time ago. Francis and Marbury should have been listening to their coaches and vets during their careers, but they haven't. Hence, their bball IQ is low and their defense is bad. Crawford listens and is a good kid, but he never had a high IQ and has trouble adjusting to every single role given to him. I guess that's what playing 1 year of HS bball and 1 year of college and then having constantly changing roles does to you as a bball player.

Q on the other hand seems to be the complete opposite and seems like he can play in whatever role is designated to him. We need more guys with HIS mentality. Maybe not his talent, but just the way he carries himself and the team for that matter. We need more smart young players with his toughness. Franfordbury just don't bring that. Nate (No, Nate is not a smart player, but he's coming along.) and Q are a start, but we need much much more in the backcourt.
