He's getting better... But I dont think it came from the offseason.. I think its coming from this season. That was the main point of the post - He came into camp the exact same player as he was last year.. I still stand by that

so after he has another stretch of a few bad games, are you going to bump this thread again & say you were right all along like you already did on page 5?

lol i hope he doesent have any more bad games

Elite - of COURSE he was the exact same player. Just like David Lee was the exact same player.

The only differennce is experience within a consistent system and a predictible series of shift combinations. NOT the random silliness of Larry Brown's arbitrary dart board.

The point being, they are ALL the same player until the regular season games start. NBA players do not have the luxury of formal off season workouts. If you've ever been up close to an NBA franchise you might realize that the first few months are a "getting to know you" episode for any franchise with multiple changes to starting positions.

Patience dude.

David Lee did not come in the exact same; he put a lot of muscle on.

Curry's in better shape. He's playing more minutes and is more productive late in the game than he was last season.

Bonn - who are you, his freakin' masseuse?

Curry is simply being employed better than being yanked in and out by you-know-who.

It's commonly refrred to as "playing shape"

did anyone ever think curry could show improvement in zeke's system ?

im guessing zeke did not have to tell curry he is the franchise like you know who did

Hitting those wide open jumpers would be the next step. Imagine we had H20 feeding Curry and Curry kicking back? That would be unreal!

im working on a thread bout that.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

OK im going to eat my words....... Ill take the hit on this one!!! Curry is playin real good... i just posted this in Briggs thread but ill repost here as a sign of appology to big Eddy

There were 2 things Isiah has done to help Eddy -

1. Get him the ball

2. Teach him how to avoid Offensive Fouls

those 2 things have allowed Eddy to develop some Confidence... Put them all together and its going to get dangerous for opposing centers. While he still is not the type of david lee all out hustle player... The mere fact that he has a steady CONFIDENCE about him should be enough to get him into the Elite level. Smart move by Isiah - If your not going to be ferocious.. at least be CONFIDENT ala Timmy Duncan. I'm down wit it!

I get the feeling Eddy might start blocking some shots too - im at least preying!!!

I felt like when he had it going vs. Mil he started liking the idea of blockin shots and was goin after it more... Once he got going on Offense he started goin a little more on Defense.

lets not forget Curry avg a decent amount of blocks a few years ago wit chicago inclooding some 5 and 6 block nights. If he can get 20ppg 8reb and 2 blocks The trade was not a bust!!!!

Elite - can you name just one "all out hustle player" in the history of the NBA who was 6'11 and 280 pounds?

Just one.

Ewing? haha maybe not quite... but still

Good point - its really one of 2 ways for a Center to play and be successful... 1. Ferocious (Shaq, Wilt, Amare) or 2. Calm, Confident and slick (Duncan, Hakeem)

I think the deal is most people expected Curry to be a type 1 player like shaq/amare but hes really turning into more of a type 2 player. Personality wise - not game wise. Which works, its like hes a inside power/finess player, not something that i can remember seeing in a long time or ever really- but as long as he maintains his CONFIDENCE we should be good

hey Elite, at least u'r man enough to admit when you're wrong about a player... there's no reason why even the most jaded Isiah basher can't appreciate what Eddy Curry's doing this season.

of course, we all do bro... even the few who always need to be right in all their projections & expert commentary that never want to admit being wrong about a player probably want him to succeed, even though they may never admit to it... Isiah isn't my favorite person in the world, but i don't have a problem acknowledging when he makes a good draft choice or trade.

He's the exact same player. It's the minutes that are different.

When the thread was created, Curry WAS the same player as last year, but at this point, he is clearly much more efficient. It's the fact that he's learned to avoid some of those offensive fouls that's giving him those added minutes to begin with.

isles, being the exact same player would entail Eddy not being in shape to stay on the floor for the extended minutes he's been playing this season... he's also gotten alot better at not lowering his shoulder & bowling into the defender which got him into early foul trouble in previous years... no, he's not the exact same player... he's gotten better.
