By the way,, I sense that it appears the Mavericks will win tonight, which strikes me as bizarre.

this was a post by solar5a on another board breaking down the fouls at the end of game 5:

On to another note: Dallas vs. Miami.

Cable channel 749 (the NBA channel). Around 7:45pm, Ronnie Nunn an NBA ref analyzed 3 controversial calls that were made by the refs and supposedly cost Dallas the game on Sunday.

Call #1) a little less than 2 mins. left in the game. The replay of Wade jumping into the backcourt to receive the ball was shown 3 times as Ronnie Nunn analyzed the play and showed the NBA rule.

According to the rule in the last 2 minutes of a game a player is allowed to go backcourt as long as he doesn't establish himself in the frontcourt to receive the ball... A good no call by the refs.

Call #2) The replay of Wade driving to the bucket clearly showed Harris (kneeing and having his hand on Wades waist to impede his progress to the basket) and Dirk (hand in Wades back as he was in the air shooting the ball) fouling him as he was driving to the basket. Ronnie Nunn replayed that particular play 3 times to show where the foul occurred. It was definitely a foul! Good call by the refs.

Call #3) On Sunday Avery and Cuban cried foul saying that Josh never called timeout and if he did it was meant to be called after Wade made the 2nd shot. Well guys, Ronnie Nunn showed the replay of that particular incident 3 times too. It clearly showed Avery giving the timeout sign to Josh. The only thing Josh did was accomdate his boss wishes by calling timeout as he and another player were heading toward the bench. At that point Avery tried to have the ref take the call back. According to Ronnie Nunn by then it was to late. The timeout was already established and the refs were never confused by what was being asked. It was clear and concise. Good call by the refs.

i don't get it. don't today's players realize that being able to hit a midrange jumper consistently can propel good players to GREATNESS?!?!?!

I hope Nate Robinson is watching Wade as he makes unbelievable shots and plays without so much as a smile, let alone airplanes and shimmies.

the crazy thing is that nate really is a miniaturized wade. what nate needs to develop is a pull up jumper. if he can get a nice little midrange shot down, he could really make a legitimate impact in the league.

If Miami had a better free-throw percentage, and took better care of the ball, it would be no contest.

Man, there's a difference between "touching" a person and "fouling" him. Those were closer to little "love taps"--not a "real man's" foul and certainly not one to decide an entire season on.
