The charlotte hornets were the type of a team that was built as the prototypical 90's model. Dominant low post player, dynamic shot blocker mid range game big man, defensive minded 3, points from the two and penetrate and dish from the 1.

We could be moving in that direction, that's a direction I like.

Alonzo
LJ
Scott Burrell
Hersey Hawkins
Mugsy Bogues

David Wingate
Greg Sutton
Robert Parish
1996(After Zo trade)
Geiger
LJ
Rice
Kendall Gill
Kenny Anderson
Dell Curry
Scott Burrell
Robert Parish

We have
Curry
AD (frye)
Barnes (ariza)
Q
Steph
Craw
Nate
Frye
Ariza
Rose
Taylor
Lee

burrell and Rice were never defensive stoppers, IMO, at the 3 and after the Zo trade geiger wasn't a premier shot blocker. As of now Neither Curry or Frye is a great shot blocker, plus Mugsy was a "stockton" type of PG were all of our guards are scoreing PG's.

Riz looked great tonight. After I saw Frye in the tourney I thought he could be a 20 point scorer in the NBA and people scoffed at that. He really is the perfect compliment to Curry. He's so important because he can draw opposing bigs out as they HAVE to gaurd him

fish the game that stood out to me for frye in the NCAA tourney was against joey graham and OK state.. He and stoudamire took over, frye was hitting tough shots and blocking shots, I was impressed, very impressed. that caught my eye..

Exactly; that's why I don't get it when certain posters say he can't improve on his weaknesses.

sorry, I was thinking starting five from playing with the team on Sega Genesis.

I forget you guys are all about complete rosters and farm teams.

I figured Curry could play the post like LJ
Frye could play the PF like Gonzo (and he can block shots BTW)
Wingate was my ariza like stopper off the bench, and Q and and Dell Curry were similar.
I didn't even know matt geiger was on the team
Rice is Q like, and marbs drives and dishes with the best of them, but hey, doesn't nate remind you of mugsy?

Whatever, just trying to go off the top of my head before I headed into the subway, next time I'll make sure the ball boy's are related before I make such a crazy comparison like that.

I can see the LJ comaprison, and I can see the Wingate Comparison but it stops there to me. Channing is nothing like ZO who was a power post player and an ALL NBA defensive player. The only thing Mugsy and Nate have in common to me is that they are both short. Mugsy ran an offense like a point and Nate is a scoring PG like Steph. Q and Curry are similiar but Q has a MUCH more diversified game. Curry was a man off the bench and all he did was shoot 3's. The only similarities I see between the two teams is that they have role players that every team needs to actually be a winning team.
Regardless of position, a post player, a shooter, someone to initiate the offense and some very good defensive players, and some depth on the bench.
