The virus doesn’t have a nationality, it’s a virus, but the rest of the sentiment is welcome

Pretty much in line with what the UK found. Still excellent protection from hospitalization and death, but the main problem is vaccinated people being able to get mildly to asymptomatic infection and passing it on to unvaccinated people, could be some very high prevalence rates in a few months

. It came from China though

Every virus starts somewhere, likely the last major pandemic 'Spanish flu' originated in the US, shall we refer to that as the US virus? What purpose does it serve other than to encourage prejudice and hatred to people who are from the country who had literally had nothing to do with the virus?

Besides which this virus mutated in the UK, the mutation of which then spread globally, then that mutated in India and that's now spreading, plus there were further mutations in South Africa and Brazil. Just daft referring to it as the China virus. RIP trump!

Tgis gonna be much much worse. I hope Joe Biden learned from d trump mistakes but so far I see a lot of people thinking a ok which is far from the truth. We could easily go back to powerful social distancing/ masks etc Shut the borders as a deterrent but I’m sorry to say it’s gonna be to little to late again. This time much worse I think 😔

The US has the best solution in the world and plenty of it, it's now up to its governors and citizens to implement and undertake. Part of the country is happy with shooting itself in the foot in the name of "freedom" which is just ****ing dumb to me.

We have some bizarro world thinking people out there - and a media infrastructure that prop it up - and it's killing our people and country. Well, the world over too.

So far the worst hasn't come to fruition and I hope it doesn't: a variant that young kids are more susceptible to via symptoms and reactions that adults have undertaken.

I am hopeful for an August emergency FDA approval for 2+ year olds (even though reports are a Sept target)

If you've had the vaccine you're pretty much protected from Covid, including the delta variant. I'm not sure what the issue is here.

The issue is that it finds it’s way to the unvaccinated and the vulnerable (those with autoimmune disorders/compromized immune systems), so could still overload health care systems, which in turn impacts everyone. A sizeable chunk of people, decided not to get vaccinated, so we could still have a large surge in deaths/serious illness

Vaccination reduces your chances of infection. If infected, it reduces the severity.

I prefer not getting infected or sick to any degree. Especially since we still don’t know the severity of long term symptoms that some suffer.

I got the vaccine as soon as I was eligible. It’s none of my business if others do or don’t. I hope for the greater good that people do.

That being said tgis variant is awful scary and we should proceed w extreme caution vaccine or not

I've heard that the delta variant has HALF of the mortality rate as the other variants. I have immune issues due to cancer but I feel safe because I've been vaccinated. 99% of deaths are from unvaccinated. My guess is that about 80% of our population has immunity either from the vaccines or from previous exposure....aka herd immunity.

I’m not going to unpack it but I don’t think the info you have stated is correct outside of the 99% death rate falling to the unvaccinated.

12 people? A lot more than that Secretary Psaki.

Crazy how almost everywhere the numbers are spiking again. This even with a lot of people being vaxed. What also is crazy is how quick the Delta has overtaken every other variant. Like 2 months ago it was in India. A month ago it was about 10% of cases in US about a week ago I seen it was a little over 50%.

Delta variant is so fast spreading. I think a lot of people in US don't realize how good we have it with Pfizer and Moderna (and J&J). I literally can't tell if those vaccines are available in other countries but they are by far the best. I think the one that is most available in Europe and other regions of the world is the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccine but here is the kicker: the recommended wait period between shots is like a 3 month gap and just having 1 shot is literally not going to do you any good, especially against Delta.

LA county has a lot of undocumented and seasonal workers and thus a lot of spread and is going back to requiring masks indoors for everyone.

France going to a vaccine passport system. UK opening up again and good luck with that. We got states like SD, Tennessee, Missouri that are literally ****ing over their own citizens.

There will be another variant after Delta. Hold on when that comes out and hits the world over.

Fucking crazy out there. I'm in NYS and we have the good, normal life in comparison.

is there a stat that says how many of the positive folks are vaccinated? my guess is that almost every one of these folks are unvaccinated.

We have every opportunity
to be aggressive and smart to avoid round 2. Believing that only a vaccine shot is the end is wrong. It could take years and we have to be nimble and smart

Some may not like this guy but he has been sounding the alarm on the Delta Variant back when it was still only in India. What I like most about him he is errs on the side of caution like me. I don't listen to Fauci or the CDC much. I still remember at the start of this Fauci telling people they don't need masks. Once he said that I knew he can't be trusted. The CDC are too quick to recommend people take off masks. They respond to pressure of people wanting business as usual. I'll role with Eric Ding all day because he is overly cautious and that is how I am also handling this pandemic.
