I may have to turn this thread into, im sorry, i apologize steve nash, you are the best player right now in the nba! i cant remember watching to many players playing as good as steve nash right now, right now he is up there with mj. hes been incredible, stupendous, so much better than anyone on the court. he runs the show and no one can stop him.

He does not yell, he leads by running that team by showing the way, and not just dishing the ball, but he creates the space and lanes for his greyhounds.

One other shaq not MVP. In the closing minutes shaq does not get ball cuz of his putrid foulshooting. MVPs close out games!

Nash reminds me of clyde, he does you yell, woop it up, complain, or taunt. Just straight up plays, encourages, and is thinking!

He was a rebound shy of another triple double. Nine rebounds!

Gazy gets like three a game! Watching Nash then thinking of Gazy makes me sick

Or:

"Little white canadian can't be MVP over taller and more talented non canadian players".

Bill Wennington must feel slighted.

You can make a case that Nash was the weakest MVP ever...and by some Margin. Just take a look at this list of MVP's and their stats and teams...

http://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/mvp.html

Honestly, based on past criteria for the MVP, you could make a very solid case for Shaq, Nowitzki or Iverson being far more worthy this year than Nash. But it just seems like the writers changed what they felt was worthy of the MVP this year. In past years, the writers almost always stayed away from PG's and stuck with big men. This year is quite an anamoly from that perspective, and it will be interesting if voters stay consistent with this. But as I said earlier, if they valued what PG's did the same as they did big men, Stockton would've won the award 3+ times with his 14+ assists seasons with 50% shooting and tough defense.

it's ok for voters to change their minds and their theories behind voting, but as I said before, let's just hope they stay consistent with it. Otherwise things were very fishy this year.

This is the bottom line. When Magic won it as a PG its because his numbers were out of this world.
22.5 pgs 7.9 rebs 12.8 assists.

The criteria was changed in the MVP voting, and one has to ask why. The NBA is a business, and Nash is very marketable, plus the fact that he's from another country makes the game have a more international appeal. And I say this in no way to take away from his overall incredibleness, but something has changed when this guy wins 2 MVP's withnumbers far below every other MVP candidate for the last 25 years.

or maybe it's a overall shift in focus to individual talents that make their team better by making their teammates better. oh and before you go nuts, i thought shaq should've won it last year.

Shaq definitely makes his teammates better, as does Duncan.

1. how after decades of deciding the mvp 1 way, does it just turn into another way? Why the shift? because obviously there has been one.

2. I wasn't gonna go nuts, i have accepted the fact that we exist in two parallel basketball universes.

Who votes? Writers? If so, then they watch alot of hoop.

I read that one voted for nash becasue it was mentioned 3 or 4 (I can't remember) players had career years, and there were 3 new starters, non matching the talent of JJ or Amare, and they won 55 games.

For those who say its the Coaches system, then it is he that runs it to near perfection.

Last year D'antoni said if Nash does not play, the team is phuched big time. Usually you say your back up can handleit and make other nice comments to keep the confidence up, but he flat out said they are toast otherwise.

Maybe Stockton did deserve in some years, but Michael is Michael.

Kobe folding in game 7 last week was very un-mike like. The team was up in the series when Kobe got the team involved. When he wanted to be the Juggernaut, they faultered.

Lebron might make a better arguement statwise, but the cavs record was not that good

I allways knew that Boris Diaw was going to be a good player in the NBA one day. I was even hoping the Knicks drafted him that yr and play Spree at PG, Houston at SG, & Diaw at SF. Im sure he wasn't ready for the NBA his first few yrs though. And also played for ATL which isn't a good developmental team.

With him playing the same position as Marion. He might become available down the road.
