This is getting so boring... The Yanks are 7 gaves under .500 this late in the season, no football, no basketball because the Knicks svck a lot. Still no coach, and all the Phil talk is anoying. A lot of days left for the lottery...

Bottom Line.. Phil isn't coming here.. LArry will get anothe championship underneath his belt which will diminished his motivation in coaching somewhere else. CHeeks, Musselman, Carlesimo, Saunders will not be here..

HERB WILLIAMS WILL GET ANOTHER CHANCE>..

I hope that you are wrong about Herb Williams, because he really didn't show me anything to deserve another chance. We need to go with a guy whom have won in this league before, or a guy with a big mouth to bring a hell of an attitude in our boys. Marb, Craw, Houston, are all too passive to be a Knicks. We need a coach that can put some sense in their games. They are all great talents, but they are missing that added ingredient that can turn them all into all stars...

Bro, how can you judge HErb Williams based on half a season??? C'mon man...
You got to give him a full training session during pre-season and he needs a couple of good players such as a prolific post-up player.

He also needs to pick his own asst coaches. It is not fair to criticze him when he even didn't coach a full season..

I disagree with that Woodman. People said the same thing about Chaney and then Lenny. Give him a full training camp. You are right we do need a post presense and Herb might win with one. Problem is where are we going to find a post presense? Post players are not easy to find. We don't have the cap space nor the assets to trade for one. Marbury is our best asset but why would someone trade a post player for a combo guard with bad Karma?

We need a coach who will develop our young players and the best player available in the lottery that we draft. Herb is not that guy because he's going to be fighting for a contract extension.

We need a proven guy eventhough I always liked Herb. It would be nice to keep Herb as an assistant since the players do like him. But if another team with a post presense in place likes what they see in him then I'll wish Herb all the best. He would be a lot more successful there than with the no frontcourt player Knicks

why? what's he proven other than the fact that he can't coach young players w/attitude problems & can't keep veterans happy while juggling their playing time? his teams have underachieved for the past few years in POR...why is he a good match for NYC?
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

No way!! Herb has been with the organization since the early 90's. His main duty would be to get this Knicks team into respectability and contention.. He's all about the uniform cause he had wore it before and he does know pride and loyalty revolving the NEW YORK KNICKS. Lenny was past his time and Chaney clearly sucked. HErb is teaching these guys how to dee(defense)up. Thats something that hasn't been implemented since the days of Riley/Van Gundy..

Please, what was Herb doing during the Chaney administration. Wasn't he on that staff, too. Yeah Chaney sucked but least he earned a Coach of the Year award, Herb just gave me bad gas. Blame the players all you want but if the head coach, and his staff gets credit when they win they should take blame when they lose. How does Herb keep dodging traffic while everyone else keeps getting thrown under the bus. Still don't understand how Ariza or Butler gets no minutes. Now there is talk about him staying on as an assistant. Look he was a serviceable backup to Ewing but just make him a mascot or something and move on to making a legit selection.

My man, Herb took over the team in the middle of the season. WHen Chaney was coach, he was the head coach, not HErb..
HErb was an assistant but he didn't make the stupid moves during games , Chaney did...

I had said it before, if Isiah can't get either Phil J. or LArry Brown then they should continue on with HErb.. There is no one else out there..

Can you tell me one thing Herb Williams has done to earn coming back? He preached defense? Uh, we gave up 104 ppg with Herb as the coach! What defense?! And come on, Herb was the 12th man on the team, it's not like he's Charles Oakley or a symbolic figure in our history. He's Herb Williams. I'd take P.J. Carlesimo, Mo' Cheeks and Flip Saunders wayyy before Herb.

Doug collins? Maybe for a vet team, but not a young team.

TV guys are great for building up hype.

Doug was a train wreck in Washington, and really did not get it done with young bulls team pre-Jax.

Avery Johnson needs to chill out a bit. I Think he will be fine, but man the dude is torqued up for the playoffs!

Phil Jax needs to make a decision. I would like to go into the draft with a new coach.

The way it is looking, no team will hire a new coach until the end of the playoffs. However, Isiah can't afford to wait around for Phil to make up his mind. We already know that he has a much better chance at resuming his post with the Lakers, so we need to start looking beyound Phil. I personally wouldn't mind seing Calesimo as our head-coach; we just can't afford to keep herb at that position.....But something is telling me that Herb will be retained....

another dido exclusive!

Yes, Phil is a long shot. Cablevision offering some ownership?

If Isiah is not long term, I would love to see phil coach for 4 years, then chill in the front office for a few years in "Player development" with an equity stake.

Draft is not for 50 plus days! We got time, and Phil gets all he wants.

We are in the running, that is not a bad thing. Patience!

Besides, PJ still in playoffs.

Bergan record says Isiah might settle on PJ if Phil rejects us.

I think this is a great choice. Pj has seen it all, success in college, struggles as head coach, but hs two rings with Pop and the Spurs.

He is strong enough to assume this team.

Any thoughts?

Would be great for the Knicks...better PJ than Herb, but how would Isiah look if he hires Carlesimo instead of Herb????
