Rodman had an incredible motor, seemingly endless ability to sustain physical high output. Precious? at times he looked out of shape.
Im not talking physique, im talking about getting gassed and then committing dumb fouls, turnovers, or can't hit a shot. Compared to Josh hart, he looked out of shape.
Rodman was incredible, HOF, and dominate stretches of game with defense and/or getting out on break!

I’d never thought of it but I actually like the “poor man’s” Rodman comparison BUT maybe more so to The younger Rodman.

Rodman was 26 as a rookie and he didn’t avg. 10 boards until his 5th year in the league at the ripe old age of he was 31 in 1991.

I think the play style is somewhat comparable and Precious has a knack for rebounding and quick put backs ala Rodman.

Sure after 1991 - from age 30-40 Rodman was an absolute animal and HOF player.

Will Precious ever approach HOF Rodman almost certainly no but the size, length, movement, defense are in the ball park similar and again the compare was a poor man’s Rodman.

we all poor mans version of something.
Rodman had a physical gift and an instinct for the ball.
Rodman had an incredible motor. Precious was out of shape for parts of the season. Poor mans version or not, Rodman never got tired.

Did the cocaine help with that?

What a different time - Keith Hernandez smoking cigarettes and working off a hangover in the dugout, local teams beating visitors when they stayed out all night in the nyc clubs, policy of don’t ask don’t tell.

And although I wasn’t there, Rodman’s story is out there. Greatest defensive player of all time?

When did Precious get tired?

I never saw that - when we needed 48 he gave us 48 and not crawling up court like Mitch.

Otherwise he was used when Thibs needed him - just don’t recall Precious being obviously tired.

Rodman didn’t avg. +30 minutes a game until age 30 so Precious has 5 years to work on his conditioning.

Doubt I'll find a video "LowLight" reel to show but maybe he was banged up and looking bad from time to time.
I know we all remember the good stuff and his defensive chops.
Im not hating on the kid and hope he nothing but super man and better than ever! If so we might lose him to free agency but that ok too.
Can't keep everyone for ever.
I disregarded Rodman for years but had to read up and catch tape given his HOF cred and remind myself how great he was! He could dominate in stretches and put games away on both ends. Incredible motor.

Didnt look tired to start, but Precious wanting to earn minutes, making a good first impression, working hard, might have taken its toll during the season. Until he got used to being leaned on, more than he had been in Toronto.

Agree that Rodman's motor was something else, like Ben Wallace. Wouldnt put Precious in that category either.

I thought Rodman got better at judging where the ball would go after bouncing off the rim, and boxing out, after he joined the Bulls.

Rodman - no doubt other worldly motor.

I only responded because I was so impressed how Precious held under heavy minutes when he was doing everything all over the court.

I'm sure he was probably grabbing his shorts a few times down the stretch.

Achiuwa is young and was pretty good. For as surprising as the Hartenstein contract was, it’s equally surprising that Achiuwa wasn’t given a real contract by another team after being totally solid throughout the playoffs when called upon. Good for us retaining him. He’s ideally maybe our fourth big on depth chart behind Randle, Mitch and a better backup 5, like he was last year on the depth chart, but he’s completely fine playing rotation minutes when needed.

I like Precious attitude and intensity and I hope the 1 year deal doesn't preclude keeping him down the line...

Same.

Happy we have precious.

Compare to toppin. Toppin has all the talent in the world. Was prone to getting pissy faced if he didnt get minutes or benched. Favorite play was a leak out. Soft rebounding and D and for all of his aerial gifts rarely finished in traffic or w a defender in front of him

Precious. Just invert everything I just said about toppin

Guy earns his minutes and works hard

I have Precious as a project. Great attitude and physical attributes. I would have liked to see 4 years 24 mill here and seen the staff truly develop him. One year six million just means uncertainty to me. Trade chip, perhaps. Option to include next year. Or possibility of losing for nothing. They saved 300k off the qualifying offer. But that 5% isn’t that interesting. It’s a meh deal for a player I like. Would have preferred to see something closer to a McBride deal where they get him minutes and he gives 110%.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Precious needs to become a better shooter to be dependable.

I have caught myself thinking that there is no one else in the league I'd want on the Knicks. And I mean literally no one, not even Giannis or Edwards. I really want to see how this team performs in the next couple of years as it is currently constructed.

Glad Precious is back and on a good deal. Hope he improves his 3 pt percentage and can play 4-5 and switch off on wings when needed on D. He is versatile and hardworking. His wingspan makes up for his height somewhat. He needs to be a reliable jump shooter to keep the defense honest but if he improves mid range and 3 pt shooting he will add something he didn't offer last year and make the offense more dynamic. We will miss I Hart but if Precious improves his offense then the team may not miss a beat with Bridges starting and Dante, Deuce, and Hart off the bench.
