It's great to see them shine and at the same time infuriating pondering what could have been- that endless losing stretch where Thibs just kept doing exactly the same thing with the starters, refusing to play the young guys, getting exactly the same outcome every game, will haunt us for a while

I know how hard of a decision that must have been for him so I have to give him props for it. As a thank you to Thibs Sims got us a huge offensive rebound that helped clinch the game at around the 1 minute mark. I also thought RJ for Grimes was the right decision.

That's the infuriating thing- last couple of games he's shown he's perfectly capable of coaching like this, but he seems to have a default setting that he always wants to revert to even if it's clearly not working

Like he said, I had no idea Obi had that in his toolkit. Now he is getting real time I wonder what else he will show us.

I might not think thibs is the right coach for this team, but with Obi on the shelf for 2 years as the 8th pick, I believe his development is sound. He always appeared to be a late bloomer which is how his career growth was b4 the nba. So I hate that he wasn’t given more time before but with Obi he wasnt ready and Randle was in the way. We almost traded him and now he’s looking like a keeper. Him and IQ have great chemistry on and off the court.

You can see it now that he looks more confident. I think we have a good problem on our hands. Certain Youths are ready to take the training wheels off (IQ and Obi) and certain vets like Randle (young vet) finally turned it up before he shut it down for the season. So everybody’s value will be higher in the off-season than they were at the trade deadline.

By the way….I’m in a championship week for fantasy basketball and I’m playing against Randle. If he continues to stay out this week he may have helped me win $1700 by not playing. Fantasy wise Randle is a beast. He puts up great stats lately and we started playing better since then which will help his trade value.

So yes our draft position takes a hit but our player and team value increases with every win. Makes off season trades easier for the FO.

Thibs is a good coach when the FO gives him no choice but to play certain players. When u over pay for EF and bring in Kemba….two non defensive players. I’m sure thibs was not driving that decision, but the good thing about his stubbornness is it brings stability. It’s up to the FO to give thibs the players he should play and remove the players that don’t fit his defensive culture. Offense isn’t everything and clearly without defense, we are trash. But that Kemba and EF experiment should’ve been shut down. That Burks experiment should’ve been shut down. But I understand thibs didn’t have confidence in IQ like he does now.

What i didn’t calculate is how hungry these young guys are, sitting on the bench watching the vets lose big leads every game while saving the starters by turning the game around then sit on the bench and watch the starters lose. That’s the part im not thinking about as a fan. But that hunger can be used as fuel for this end of the year run we are seeing and beginning of next season.

So as much as I killed thibs, im now giving him his flowers for how he coached lately and his substitute strategy looks better. Was Randle his problem all along? Can thibs hold Randle accountable like he does the rooks? I don’t think so. That’s why I believe Randle should be traded, even though I think he’s still the best player on the team. But at this rate, RJ and IQ are stepping up as the driving force for this team as well. Grimes is lurking and deuce / sims are solid role players.

Nice run by the yoots. Something fans been waiting for. Who knows how they would’ve played earlier. Grimes looked shaky in his first start. So did IQ and Obi. Now everybody looks better. Could also be no expectations to win right now so that’s less pressure on them. Either way I just wanted them to get PT and build up confidence. And they are doing that now. Nice run

Ever learn a new language? Its not good until you can think it. Then it flows. They you immerse instead of practice and you take step back. Then it clicks.

They did not look earlier in the season. its easy to look back and say “if we started this earlier, maybe we get here sooner?” Maybe. But were trying to win.

Beating the cHeat just hits differently! Even more sweet when they have the best record in the East and we haven't won there in 5 years! I just hope now that loss costs them homecourt!

But this was the best and most enjoyable win of the season. Mainly cause it was against that team and the kids played such a big role. Game ball goes to IQ. He was just tremendous in that 4th quarter! To bring your team down 17 on the road against that team and that defense while scoring 20 points is just huge! Good to see Grimes get the touch back too! He's been rusty since coming back from that injury but he hit big threes in the fourth! Not the best game from RJ at both ends (Butler is a tough cover) but I'm happy he again hit those 2 clutch FTs.

Liked what I saw from Deuce and Sims. Deuce gave us great defense on Lowry and playmaking (found Grimes twice for a three) in the fourth and Sims battled Bam all game. Obi picked up in the second half after an awful first half. You just cannot get beat by that dinosaur Tucker off the dribble!

What was up with Thibs in the post game? I'm confused. I was actually shocked he kept the kids late in the game. If he brought back Burks and Fournier like he normally does, you know we'd lose that game. So kudos to him for staying with what brought you back but what was up after the game? Was he defending Randle? Burks? I know I don't need to watch a game 2 or 3 times to realize Randle quits on multiple plays a game and IQ continuously outplays Burks.

8 more to go.

Some have questioned Obi"s defensive abilities but you can never question Obi's hustle, heart and effort. He doesn't cheat the game by taking plays off. etc. He set the tone in the Charlotte game in which we never gave up the lead and he set the tone in tje 3rd quarter....

I'll take a step back to last summer for one minutes.

I think the Knicks organization had a very strange decision to make, one in which they did not anticipate at the begging of the season 20-21. They overachieved big time. Randle did some super human things and from top to bottom, everyone was all in, blew way past where anyone would have thought they could land and it paid off until they met Atlanta in the first round.

After going 41-31 do you scrap what is going on or give those guys another shot? They decided to go in on it, not ALL in but they made the decision and set a path for themselves. Randle was given a contract and the other guys were given 2 year deals with 3rd year team options; enough security for the players without a massive overpay but the FO also gave themselves an out too. Brought in Kemba and Fournier too. FO to Knicks: "We believe in you and we are rolling with it again."

IMHO it's an incredibly hard needle to thread when a team is in the space of both trying to win (get to playoffs) and dev on the young guys. One of those 2 has to dominate the other to some degree and you set your direction from there.

At the all-star break, the team made a different decision and pulled the plug on the direction that was set at the begging of the year. It failed and now part 2 is in place.

And to respond to you directly, the shift did happen, it happened at the all star break.

The more quick does directing the offense and making the right decision on who to pass it to the more I start to view him as a PG.

It's incredible when that light switch goes on.

It'll be disappointing to me if he is not starting next year.

The defensive efforts and execution by both Sims and McBride are first rate in these 2 clips IMHO

I stopped watching like 15 games ago because I am not a maso. This is the first game that I am going to watch and maybe, just maybe I will be lucky enough to be able to watch our future the rest of the season, if Thibs continues this trend of playing the youth that is

To all y'all coach Thibs fans .. Quickley did a personation of combo-guard D.Rose 4th quarter performance by letting Deuce-McBride run the POINT to erase the Miami Heats 15 point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.
At the start of the 4th quarter down by 15 pts the Knicks TANKING COY Thibs thought it was a LOSING game, so he put the 3 rookies he been denying playing time to all season on the court together in a lineup having Taj Gibson and the second season player Quickley.
Well, that YOOT lineup did something none of Thibs Knicks lineups ever did they went on a 24-6 run in 7 minutes, plus build a 8 point lead in the final 3 min of the game. And they did this against one of the top defensive teams holding the top winning record in the East.
Yes, the YOOT lineup EXPOSED the Knicks COY Thibs for TANKING the past 5 months.
Randle & RJ Barrett half-court offense and ball-stopper performance always committing consistent turnovers in the 4th quarter never took the Knicks on a 24-6 run in their 3 season as a Knicks !!!
As a long time Knicks fan, I'm glad Quickley has not picked-up any of Randle & Barretts losing habits this season. I was so-so happy when Quickley let McBride run the PG position against Lowry !!!
