Yes some players get better even after being in the league a while. Many more do not. Many get worse. There is a law of diminishing returns in every field, the better you are the harder it is to improve.

Not saying you should feel sorry for Stat. I just think it's funny how many posts there are about Stat, Melo, Chandler etc. saying they could easily improve if they did X. Not that easy - they're already better at their jobs then the vast majority us are at ours - it's not that easy to get better.

Melo $124mil for 5yrs

Fast forward 4 years and after dealing with injuries and becoming a shell of his former self, Melo will still have a legion of fans defending him, saying he made us relevant, we had to take the risk on the bloated contract, its not his fault, he's still our # 2 offensive option and you have to start him.

Melo hasn't played well YET this season. He needs to get his **** together. Given the appropriate pieces around him he has the ability to be a big success. Time will tell on whether his contract is the same complete disaster Stoudedires has been.

'Stat' has been a ****ing disgrace in a Knicks shirt from start to finish and deserves abuse for his total non contribution and pathetic career in the orange and blue. If he had any self respect he would be utterly embarrassed at his performance and what he has brought to the franchise. He has no excuses left and has failed entirely. The guy is a complete fraud and I hope he is chased out the Garden in his bull**** suits and ****ing canes.

Totally different situation from Melo at this moment in time.

I thought Melo looked really good in the two wins. Much faster and hitting his shot like he did in 12-13 before the Howard foul. Diving on the floor, playing good d, moving the ball and hitting his shots and talking about the great positive energy the team had. His body language was horrible in the Detroit game. I thought he might be sick or hurt but it has carried over several games. Melo is an interesting guy. He handles all of the pressure the ny media brings well but can be thrown off his game by trash talk and criticism from some. He doesn't seem right these last three games. He has been in ny long enough to know that this happens at times. Unless he is bailing on Phil, Fish and the new system already this should pass soon.
