Luke Walton? isn't that kind of random?

Luke has been mentioned a ton by Phil himself, books, interviews, etc.

He coached at the D league last year.

5 years $25 mil...just more execs trying to prove how smart they are. meanwhile guys really paying dues can't catch a break. i wonder what doc rivers would've said if he constantly pushed for thibs to be a head coach only to not get the opportunity b/c guys like kerr and fisher get the job instead. outside of doc and mark...any other player to coach success stories in the past 20/30 years?

Fish and Jax have 18 rings between them and they seem to think they can make this work. Not my money but I think it was a smart hire. There needs to be chemistry between the coach and gm and the Knicks have that. Also, a lot of assistants got head jobs last year. Kidd, Fisher and Kerr are just three guys. I think Fisher might be the best of the bunch. The guy was an incredible winner, a leader and he was a role player.

Great assessment, Crush. Completely agree.

Cartright, Rambis, Phil, Fish, and even walton........

THats a lot of bling these guys are carrying. They know winning. They all played and coached except Fish. Im sure he'll get his x's and O's down soon enough.

OBI Won Phil is assembling his Jedi's! The tree will be bountiful and fruit bearing!

Im not worried, Its the journey that matters and we are putting a staff together. These guys don't come cheap either. Kudo's to Dolan on this.

I am just worried because Fisher often did not play like a smart player. He has had some big moments but a lot of very mediocre play. And, I never cared for his shot selection.

So maybe he is a great leader but I hope he will lead the correct way.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

time will tell. I was so excited when Isiah came here. A tough hard nosed defender who could score with anyone. Guy was one of the gutsiest players ever. What does he do? Nothing but add guys with no guts. So you just dont know good or bad. Jesus if these guys cant figure it out who can? My god the resources they have at their disposal

We don't wan't him being an enabler of bad shots either. I just did not really like his decision making. His effort was always stellar.

Thank you. This is my concern as well. I just would like to know he coaching philosophy and what he has learned outside of the triangle and how to apply the new school statistical approach to the triangle or can it be applied. What is his stance on Defense and etc.

Why be worried with Phil here to help correct any mistakes. Besides anyone who's Won and been around winning as much as Fish is light years better than what we've had. Please stop this nonsense about taking bad shots!!!
