To address it now after an appearance of deciding cp3's destination should be the clips to improve a franchise that was owned by a racist owner is going to be hard to do. Sterling isn't going anywhere fast.

If that audio was unaltered and that was indeed authentic at a minimum he will be given a lengthy suspension perhaps as much as3-5years

What does a suspension entail? Does he still receive profits from the team?

i think the other owners do not want to set the precedent of removal/forced sell since they could be next for future transgressions.

You hit the nail on the head.

LMFAO. I could see them flying off the wracks.

Slavery was/is no laughing matter.

Did you see that movie?

I don't think that the other poster or myself were making light of slavery but rather the circumstances surrounding Sterling and his attitude. There is a big difference between the 2. And yeah, I saw the movie.

Ok. I just to issue with your LMFAO.

Glad you saw the movie. I was one of the only movies that I actually lost it and cried from extreme sadness.

I just finished listening to the whole conversation of Donald Sterling and his ex girlfriend. I thing that all of you need to listen to that conversation and then tell me what you think. It's really a strange thing. She sure set him up quite well. What he said was offensive and bad. But listen to the conversation in its entirety. She set him up but he still is a racist.

Yes that is one evil woman. People should have freedom of speech in their own home with their own girlfriend.

We can all get in big trouble if we were recorded in private by loved ones.

Still shows that he is a racist but a despicable act by the gold digger.

I have to say that I feel bad for Sterling on a very miniscule level. Dude is old as ****, but there's no excuse having these despicable values/views while having some semblance of intelligence. But that chick was baiting him sooo hard. He just sounded semi-confused about everything. At first it sounded like he thought she was banging Magic or something. Everyone basically hate this old bigot now.

I felt the same way. There are many old people that are ignorant and racists based on their upbringing and that does not make them all evil, just extremely ignorant.

And, its very different if someone makes publc comments or they say something to their bimbo gold digging "lover". Makes me sick. She makes me more disgusted than he did. Race baiting for a profit is reprehensible!

C'mon. How many of us have elderly grandparents that we love that make recist/ignorant comments about the Japanese, the Jews, Mexicans, Muslims, blacks, GAYS etc ...

The world is much more liberal today but not when these old people were young. And, I would say that most americans behind closed doors make many racist comments. Is it fair for them to be taped by a family member or a loved one?

Lets be honest about this.

So you're more offended by a ho being a ho, than a man who thinks its okay to treat an entire people like "dogs" because of the color of their skin? The same man who abuses his tenants/employees and then uses his wealth to screw them out of contractual agreements? Fuck Donald Sterling being old and the excuses about him being a part of a different generation. I was raised in a subculture and a family of vicious homophobes and devout Christians. Today, I count some of my closest friends as homosexuals and I am very much areligious. Your culture/background is not the end all, be all for your perceptions of the world.

Am not condoning the ill treatment of anyone. If he is found guilty of that then he should be punished. Was he found guilty of that?

I am talking about the taping of an old mans ignorant private conversations. If someone taped your grandfathers homophobic remarks and it ruined his life, how would you feel? That he had it coming?

His friends share his sentiment evidently. It was their opinion about minorities that he was concerned of when he was speaking to his dick-holster.

In all honesty, I would feel he had it coming because a man should be able to stand by his comments. I sometimes say some inflammatory things but I have no problem saying them in public or private, mostly because reason is my guide.

To be honest, I don't have a problem with what Sterling said necessarily. Yeah, it pisses me off but it's a free country and he has the right to say as he feels. I'm going to be more pissed if he walks back the comments. This PC culture irritates the **** out of me because it doesn't allow for real, meaningful discourse.

Another update:
http://deadspin.com/exclusive-the-extended-donald-sterling-tape-1568291249

There was some earlier discussion about whether Sterling was having this conversation over the phone or if he was bugged. He must've been bugged because in the beginning of the audio, you hear him ask for juice from Stiviano and he ends up with a glass of juice.

Also, a little quote that jumped out at me: "it isn't a question- we don't evaluate right and wrong, live in a society. We live in a culture. We have to live in that culture." Sound suspicious much? If we don't evaluate right and wrong, then who does? The illumaniti! I wish playa2 was still around to get to the bottom of this. I really do miss the dude.

Sterling a racist or prejudiced? Baylor was underpaid but nobody forced him to stay, or held him from seeking employment elsewhere. Sterling has been on record for saying bad things, but if "Racist", or "Institutionally Racist" he would have employed policies to discriminate within the Clipper organization. His comments, as despicable as they are, was a private conversation. So the problem is the court of public opinion will damn him, IM not sure what the league can do. What rules has he broken? What laws has he broken? Im sure the league has bylaws of decent behavior and moral behavior.

Im not defending him BTw, Im just discussing.

Now, before anyone jumps on me, I believe he had instituted some racial bias in his rental properties and was held liable in some capacity. That and a nasty sexual harassment case. They guy is a slim bucket.

Im not advocating anything this guy does but while the public wants this guy punished Im not sure what they can do other than suspend him for a year or two as MLB did with Marge Schott many years ago. She made a public statement in an interview. Sterling was in a private conversaton. Its different.

Again, Prejudiced vs Racist?

Racist? Definitely. Prejudiced? Hard to say. Doc Rivers has an official role in their front office and is also one of the better paid non-player employees in the league, right?

I'm also skeptical of what the league could do but it certainly doesn't help their bottom line (profits). I expect a grand show to be put on but nothing really happening. I do think they'd prefer to see someone else own the team though, so maybe you and I should start to put some resources together. How much can I put you down for?

Sterling is both, he is a racist because he doesnt want himself associated with minorities except for financial gain.

He's prejudiced based on past judgements on him his testimony made in his slumlord cases and his dealing with Elgin Baylor.

The NBA doesnt have to verify how the tape was made, only whether it's him on it and it displays his uncut quotes...which I'm not really sure how they can do that as some words are clearly missing.

The NBA can fine and suspend him, but according to some reports on the laws side the NBA does NOT have a means to make him sell his team.....even a vote of the owners cant do it unless it's proven the Clippers are financially hurting the NBA.

so in that respect fans of all teams need to stop supporting the NBA...if they care about this.

He is racist no question. But so what, there are millions racist and bigots all over the place.
If I would pay attention to any hate talk about Jews I will have to run around with the gun and kill every second man.
So I do not give a f..ck. After witnessing burning 6 millions into dust any talk is chip.
I do not think there is a country in the World were black man is treated better and has better live that in US; including African countries where most of the people are treated like sht...
For me people are not white, black, Hispanic, etc. - they are good people and bad people. All the rest is irrelevant.

The issue is being racist as an owner of an elite business who's employees may be upwards of 80% black or more.

It's awesome if it doesnt affect you, dont bother me either as I'll watch even though I'm making his wallet fatter by doing so.

Just imagine if a guy like Fred Smith for instance were to make racist comments that the public heard....fedex might as well close all it's hubs, especially the main one in predominantly black employed Memphis.
