once murry leaves the lead is gone. I don't think we can judge hardaway and CJ while their PG is chris smith.

Very interesting player -- 6'11" 245 -- looks like he started his college career at Florida his freshman year and never played, then when to a junior college (Miami-Dade Community College) where he put these stellar numbers: In 25 games, 21.1 ppg on 47% FGs, 77% FTs, 14.2 rpg, 3.44 blocks and over 2 steals a game. I know that's junior college but those are monster numbers and shows production in all the right places for a big man. After that, he transferred over to Kentucky -- never really got any meaningful time there but Coach Cal obviously saw something in him to make him a part of his championship level team. Kind of an accomplishment in itself to even make that Kentucky team at that time.

The man really passed the eye test the other day in about 20 mins. I though he was fairly active and looked good... Very good size, looks to have an above average skillset. Interested to see more of this kid to see what he really is and what could be (I have no idea after the one SL game -- Channing Frye with more rebounding, shot-blocking maybe? Who knows?). He might be one of these total surprise guys outta nowhere that's been held down in college development-wise only to emerge when he's finally given an opportunity. We know what Tyler is pretty much and AJ Matthews doesn't look like NBA material.. I say play this kid Vargas 30 mins a game here and let's find out the most we possibly can about him. Doesn't look to be the strongest and most physical big man around but he's got plus size, a really well-developed left hand finishing around the basket, looks like he's got a knack for blocking a shot and he's got a real soft touch from mid-range.

Those are great numbers. My guess is most junior college competition is higher then what a guy like Matthews faced against d3 schools.

Unless he seriously improved on his game from college he is not going to be a player. He was supposed to be a good player out of H.S. but he never developed. He had talent but never lived up to his potential. Ask any UF or UK fan and they will tell you don't get your hopes up.

Might already be a done deal.

I like that we still got outraged about the Nets owner and his underhand dealings with AK 47 though

True. These sweetheart deals happen sometimes because a player really wants to join a contender.

didn't Murry start turning the ball over right before he exited? My feed is choppy but he was doing well then I thought he started coughing the ball up some?

A little down on Vargas. Here I am singing his praises in terms of skill and then he goes out and plays with such low energy. Continued to take and hit a few jumpers but they we're great shots. Definitely forced a few where he was well defended. Low energy coupled with poor shot selection will not this kid where he wants to go.

Toure Murry continues to impress. Got a little sloppy toward the end but his defense looks great, he can push the pace, score it and he looks like he can find open men. Nice find.

He had 2, but no one else can run the team.

Will be surprised if Leslie doesn't get an invite. He's all over the court and making a difference.

CJ Leslie showing his athletcism, but I wanna see more variety to his game. Without a great shot or a go to weapon, but with great athletcism and length I'd like to see him as a 2 way, all around player in the vein of a a Stacey Augmon or Shawn Marion.

Man that's some 1st step Leslie has. Wow.

Who was that hitting jumpers all net when they went split screen with the Pat Ewing interview? 2 jumpers all net, looked like the same player.

He needs a summer with Hopla but I doo like his handles so far. It's better than I though it was.

Tyler looks soooo much better than I remember seeing him in previous years. We might have a few keepers on this team.

CJ might not be as raw as I thought. That was a really nice use of a jab step.

CJ was a possibility to be drafted at 24 if the other players we had wanted were not available. Not sure I believe that but they did like the kid.
He is a lock to be on the team imo.

Didn't know that. Would be nice if we got both players we wanted at 24, if that story was true.

Agree we have big men earning there way to camp. Murry is a lock in fact I would sign him right now to the rookie 2+1minimum contract. Our bigs. Tough choice. Tyler probably earned his way on as well. Jennings played well. So did all of the bigs. If Chris smith makes it were simply stealing a roster spot from someone who has earned it. These guys have earned a big league invite. Give them credit. While raw. The knicks sl team hAs the best collective group

I liked THjr attacking the basket this game. He doesn't lack explosiveness at all. Also, his handles on the pnr is pretty good. I am thinking that is what separated him from the other two guards.

I loved the play we ran for him to get him that crazy dunk. I like how he will play on the Knicks more than on the summer league team. I think he has too much to worry about in summer league. When he has too much to think about his shot selection goes bad. Have him run off screens, spot up and drive to the hoop and he will be a good player for this team.

Five Guys

Toure Murry, like his height at 6'5

CJ Leslie, like his length

Jeremy Tyler, like his toughness

Tim Hardaway Jr, like his professional bloodlines

Jerome Jordan, like the fact he's from Jamaica

That makes 5 summer leaguers who could very well make the roster

once a knick always a knick
