Really, this current Knicks roster is head and shoulders above and superior in just about every way to the Gallo, Mozgov, Amar'e, Felton, Fields Knick team. You know someone is either trolling or not rational when they try to claim otherwise.

There are a lot of Melo homers too. Homers that think of as many excuses as possible as to why he hasn't made the finals/won a championship. It's always someone else's fault or he didn't have X team mate.

It goes both ways. You don't like reading homer posts about other players and I don't like reading homer posts related to Melo.

Very good point. Instead of worrying about favorites we should just focus on the team as a whole

Rational analysis of Melo's playoff performances and playoff teams does not equate to being a homer. What is irrational are the people that cling to this idea that Melo ran Lin out of town and somehow is in control of the Knicks front office. LoL!

Also, I think Melo is a superstar player that still has a lot to prove in regards to playoff success. This applies to ton of superstars (such as Deron and Love). We will see how the Knicks do this year. I don't think they have any more excuses barring a massive injury riddled playoffs like the last two years.

I think Nupe is weighing in on the new radicals that arrived from realgm. Several posters have been really over the top to the point where it isn't worth responding to them. Hopefully Martin and Andrew can tone them down a bit.

radicals, you mean the infidels? LOL.. dude I have been on this site before you.... check my stats...

those guys have been in the league less time than melo, especially love and I think deron has less to prove, he already has had a decent amount of playoff success and is pretty much regarded as the best player at his position... although I have paul ahead of him, but it is debatable... the closest thing we have to a superstar on this team is a completely healthy amare....

Both Melo and Deron have been to conference finals once. Deron has played on multiple teams that missed the playoffs unlike Melo though.

In regards to Love, he has amassed stats but regularly misses the playoffs. In fact, he has never made it to the playoffs. He is young, that is true. However, Melo was young and still managed to drag his team into the playoffs.

I am not saying Melo is better or worse than any of the players I named. I am not ranking them. I am not even going to get into that. I am simply saying there are plenty of great players who have had minimal or no great playoff success. This does not mean they are not superstars.

Deron's record in playoffs are 19-20 with a trip to the conf. finals. But really there are so many variables to the team dynamic that the arguemt of "Melo in the playoffs" insinuates the individual nature of the game of basketball. Its a team game.

ITs hard to quantify the arguement of playoff failures when your first round opponent could be enroute to a long playoff run, injuries, and a ton of other variables.

We can argue the intangables but unless we watched every game of those series in Denver I don't think anyone can really lay blame on Melo for his individual play in those series.

Melo will get you to the playoffs and that keeps ticket sales going pretty good.

Fans want champioinships but some owners want the balance sheet to look good and don't want to risk losing money in the years it would take to build a club properly.

Does this mean because Dolan and the knicks have been constrcuted this way it holds true in the future? Only on internet forums.

you know what i find odd... when it comes to failures, it is always "carmelo never had a good team", " carmelo never had help", "it is a TEAM game'.... yet you make comments like this..

However, Melo was young and still managed to drag his team into the playoffs.

so melo gets credit when they win, spread the blame when they fall short... that is not an honest argument....

I think Novak is very skilled at shooting. I believe he can hit midrange shots too. In order for his game to expand on this team he'd have to be afforded the opportunities to do so. I'm not quite sure how adept he'd be at consistently getting open. Especially against the better defenses in the league. I remember him as a Clipper and Rocket and his days back at Marquette. He finally found a home with us(we overpaid), although he was rapidly becoming a journeyman prior to, more than likely because of his one dimensional skillset. One year it's Kapono, the next year it's Damon Jones, the next year it's James Jones, the next year it's Korver, the next year it's Morrow, the next year it's Matt Bonner, the next year it's Novak..... not sure how much of your hat you can hang on these guys as being more than what they are. The trend is there.

Why do we always try and make more of what's there?

Please lets not start another Deron vs Melo war. The truth is BOTH guys have had a horrible playoff record. Hopefully for the Knicks melo's record will improve in a big way

I am not starting a "war". I think both Deron and Melo are great players. I am not remotely the person on this board that is caught up with any single players payoff record. Playoff success is based upon team effort, team composition, injuries and matchups. It is hard and unreasonable to pin success and/or failure on any one player. That is my very general take on things.

The stars can always align when your a top 4 seed.

Winning a champoinship is not easy. Losing one is.

I agree with everything you posted.

Please lets not start another Deron vs Melo war. The truth is BOTH guys have had a horrible playoff record. Hopefully for the Knicks melo's record will improve in a big way

Deron's 19-20 record as a member of the Utah Jazz is not horrible!
One year they failed to make it even with a .500 record.

Years in

9-8
6-6
4-6

Melo as a member of the Denver Nuggets basketball club making the playoffs 7 years is not horrible.

1-4
1-4
1-4
1-4
0-4
10-6
1-4
0-4
1-4

These are both very good players but dominant first team all time great players they are NOT!

My take is if you hail Melo as a great individual player but argue he lacks credentials then you have a valid point.

Same for Deron.

Neither has been on a championship quality team. Both have different roles and stats will be different.

+1

Would love to see them shut Charles up and force him to admit that the Knicks are better than he thought they would be.

Usually they don't for a top 4 seed. Going back 45 years, to 1967 when the playoffs were expanded to four teams from each conference, there have only been seven championship teams that weren't either a first or second seed and only two that weren't a top 3 seed. Of those 45 champions there were 26 1st, 12 2nd, 5 3rd, 1 4th (the 1966 Boston Celtics), and 1 6th (the 1995 Houston Rockets) seeds. Basically, if we think we have a shot at a championship we need to finish as one of the top two teams in the East.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come
