Often times a PG makes TO's due to the confusion between him and the other players. The one good thing Lin has here is a very clear set of guidelines in this system. The toughest part is when you play the really tough defensive teams. He just has to keep taking what the D gives him and there will be openings cuz no defense is perfect if you put enough pressure on it.

Lin's ability to get by his man and change gears is a big part of his success. Not giving up his dribble much like CP3 and Nash is another big part of it. Keeping his head up and continually probing the defense for an opening. He's taken direction well and has fully embraced the system and built trust with his teammates.

You got to love this:

“We should have kept (him),” Morey wrote of Lin, who was buried on the Rockets depth chart behind Kyle Lowry and Goran Dragic.
“Did not know he was this good. Anyone who says they knew misleading.”

Houston raped us in Jordon trade. This is sweet justice, too bad we don't play them again this year. And even that first rounder we have to give up to them, I bet you Lin is the better player

Lin, via sheer serendipity and courage, has taken an opportunity and put his signature on it. The hilarious part is that no scouting report, no writer, no general manager, no head coach and not LIN himself saw this coming.

It is one of those rare moments in sports (and life) when the planets align perfectly and the right man is standing in the right spot at the right time. This is something we NEVER see in NY Knicks basketball. All our leading men are either coveted or co-opted. They are NEVER players that were released by someone else. They are rarely walk-ons.

Lin did something very cool.

He made his impact felt by being selfless and by being in the moment. Before his breakout game he slept on Landry Field's sofa. How humble can you get? He didn't stay at The Marriot Marquis near Grand Central Station. He slept on Landry Field's couch.

nixluva nails it on potential causes of turnovers. Did you notice him communication with Tyson Chandler during the Wizards game?

Go crazy people.

Basketball is supposed to be fun.

BigDaddyG - Yeah, Lin averaged 4 TO's a game his 4 years in college and 5 in the Dleague. He also averaged 2stls and 1 block a game (that last one is rare among PGs.)

Considering his assist to turnover ratio is pretty good right now, especially if you take out that 8 TO half when he was winded, I think the level of his teamates here is helping him to have less TO's.
As we all have seen, stats and actual play often don't match up well.

I would say regarding having slow feet - That has TOTALLY been fixed. That was said about him coming out of college some, even though he was a good defender. If you saw his last 3 games, slow feet would have never entered your mind, quite the opposite. I was amazed how damn well he stayed in front of people. He is 23 with lots of room to improve now that his competition is higher. Looking forward to that.

JCrusher - Yes and no as far as things getting harder for Lin. The defenses of course will adjust, but so will he and we've seen both happen and it got him back to back career highs. Not saying that will continue, just that he is a smart kid. Now, he also has been doing this with two starters and STARS out. One of them in Amare is a great P&R player. Will things really get harder for him when he has another P&R guy to go to AND another star who can ISO? Things might get VERY hard for the opposition actually. Do you really think teams will focus on Lin when Melo can bring the ball up? And consider Lins vision and who we have on our team. Opposition, look out.

They Said It

“I’ve played with as much emotion and energy as I can," Lin said after Wednesday’s rout in Washington.

“I let it all hang out when I get out there and I don’t try to hold too much back."

No Fear.

"I gotta do a better job of getting the ball to Tyson..."

Lisa Salters was surprised that Lin was going to watch film at halftime.

It's good to be smart.

It's very refreshing to see a guy that cares about his teammates gets.them involved, doesn't force.a trade, take 30 shots, come on out of shape, deplete our roster and make fields and amare worse.

Hats off to this kid. It's so easy and simple. Move the ball, space the floor find the open man. He's a breath of fresh air for.this league and may well save the coachs job, which was in jeopardy because Melo refused to play team ball.

They are also letting a lot of contact go on the kid. It's been a while since excitekebt in the.garden was well deserved. Glad the kid got his.chance and saved basketball in this city.

Word and words.

Wait 'til he starts getting some calls.

Fisher bear-hugged him on that coast-to-coast spin, for example.

The Knicks are a different team.

The poise they all show is 180 degrees from where it was two weeks ago.

One more thing... Lin plays better defense than Nash.

Dude is rugged and does is not afraid to mix it up with big guys

Beautiful

I had to pinch myself because it felt like a dream. Yup, he dropped 38 and 7 assists against The Lakers. Check.

No one saw this coming. Not Golden State, not Tommy Ammaker, not D'Antoni, not knicksbigcats, not Miss Cleo, briggs, not even The Answer Man.

Jeremy Lin plays beautiful basketball. Like a dancer, he plays with grace. He plays with enough humility to make ALL the guys around him better.

... but before we go for the okey-doke of his choir boy act, there is more. Lin flashed a trace of something else. Last night he smiled and celebrated as his teammates rejoiced on the sidelines. After one made jumper, Lin was not the lovable nerd. As he retreated on defense, the camera caught his eyes narrowing. He was deadly serious and focused. As he stared back into the eyes of the Los Angeles Lakers his thought bubble was saying, "yeah mo'fuc#ers, we are for real." He flashed the intense expression of an assassin

Don't let the shy interviews fool you, Lin is a street fighter.

Is he a leading man for Alvin Ailey or is he Jason Bourne?

Wow Misterearl, enjoy the ride and glad to see you so happy, as most of us are. The deniers are slowly coming out though, it takes time.

I kind of like the "Knick" Name ShaoLin in a way because of what you said there at the end.

Fun Facts (in the context of team basketball)

earthman- The Answer Man is STILL pinching himself

"4.) Tonight, Lin scored or assisted on 57.6 percent of the Knicks' 92 points (53 of them). While he scored 38 points, his seven assists led to 15 points. In his previous three games combined, Lin created 43.9 percent of the Knicks' 305 points (134 of them)."

"2.) Lin has had four straight games of at least 20 points and seven assists. The only other player to have a streak of that length this season is LeBron James." - ESPN

“I’m shocked he had 38 points. He had 38 points in the context of team basketball," Mike D’Antoni said. “It wasn’t about him. That’s what makes it so special. You don’t see many guys play like that even in their 30th opportunity or their whole career. What he’s doing is amazing.

Sheesh

I think many teams are going to reevaulate their bench because there are many talented nba players who just never get a chance for one reasosn or another. lin is showing that with a chance and his confidence he can be a bigtime player

Maybe. New scrutiny may be placed on the NBA scouting departments, and self-proclaimed pre-draft pundits, who put emphasis on "freakish athletic ability" as the gold standard for rating yoots.

The brain-o-meter just got a new life.

Yea, it should. But that won't happen.

The freakish athletic ability just looks better on youtube videos.
