You need to get superkicked in the face.

No I don't I realize there are other qualified and well respected execs out there to replace the very average one leaving. Don's a good dude and I hope he does well wherever he goes but sorry he wasn't as good as advertised. And quite frankly not sure how much decision making was completely his while here. Yes he brought a ton of respect here but he's not the only exec in the NBA who brings this quality to a franchise.

Sorry, your basketball opinion is not respected. Actually, you yourself are not respected. Stick to making nicknames like Walshed Up. You sucked at those but it was all you were good for.

To celebrate the firing of a man who helped change this team from awful, pathetic joke to respectable franchise is a slap in the face to real Knick fans. Maybe it's the fact that you were a Bulls fan not too long ago but we Knick fans love and respect Donnie Walsh for what he did here. No GM's record is spotless but his positives far outweighed the negatives.

you will learn to appreciate the man when we're back to having Isiah and/or his cronies run the show. These guys will never be more than puppet General Managers under this owner. If you're happy with that than there is nothing else I can say.

Do you know this for a fact this will happen so be quiet until the dust settles. There are capable professionals out there once again FACT not OPINION. He wasn't going to stick around forever and therefore we were looking at replacing him sooner than later anyway FACT not OPINION. He wanted to hire Mullin a GM some Knick fans didn't respect FACT not OPINION.

While there are capable professionals out there, few of us are confidant that Dolan will be capable/willing to pick one of them.

Walsh was hired because Stern pushed very hard for Dolan to find an experienced nba exec to take Isiah's place. Dolan is on his own now and resumes, results, and credentials don't seem to matter as much to him as charm, charisma, a great smile and the ability of his employee to make him feel involved, important and popular.

Who hired Walsh?

Not saying I believe in Dolan all I'm saying is we have no idea how this will play out. I'm anticipating it will turn out for the better in the long term...Walsh was always a short term option and until this sinks in maybe the results of his exodus won't be as shocking to so many.

He was a 'consultant' until he took the FIU job. I don't believe he was ever officially canned, just reassigned.

If you think consultants have that much input, you should be happy Donnie is now a consultant...Donnie wanted total autonomy...That's nuts...Donnie wanted Mullin in here as GM...More insanity...

As opposed to a Dolan puppet running the show, which would be brilliant.

I really liked how Walsh operated, but I fear that this all went down hill when the negative rumors came out about how Lebron and his people felt about Walsh and the Knicks presentation. I think that not getting Lebron and being hesitant on making the deal for Melo is what really did Walsh in. Once Dolan got involved and effectively made the deal for Melo, it gave him the feeling he was capable of running things and that Donnie was less important. That is a dangerous situation for this franchise, cuz Dolan won't hire a guy that has a backbone like Walsh.

The point is Dolan would not fire him despite all of the embarassment and damage that he did. Stern forced Thomas's departure and Dolan still kept him around. My guess is that Isiah had Dolan's ear as a consultant more than Walsh will.

If that's the case then I'm happy, Mullin isn't running the Knicks...

“They were a joke for six years,” a rival team executive said Friday. “What Donnie has done for that organization, you’ve got to be kidding me. Come on. The whole world has paid attention to basketball in New York because of the guy – in a positive way.”

That predicament, viewed through the prism of Walsh's departure, only fuels speculation that Dolan hijacked the Anthony trade talks and ordered Walsh to make a trade he didn't want to make -- not at that price, anyway. Walsh again deflected that notion Friday, but a person with knowledge of the trade talks between New York and Denver said Dolan played a prominent role in the deal.

"Donnie had a good hold of it, but I think Dolan had the intentions," the person said. "Dolan wanted Melo at all costs. It was 100 percent Dolan who was the one with an all-costs Melo type thing. And Donnie was saying, 'This would be a good trade, but let’s do it the right way."

Of course we'll never really know what the "results" you refer to mockingly might have been because Walsh had the chair taken out from under him during the Anthony deal and was, in essence, unable to build the roster he hoped to build.

Mr. Mike D'Antoni
"Your Kungfu is better than your basketball coaching the Knicks & it just got a good man Donnie Walsh to step down! "

I'm not happy, your resume in Phoenix & NY doesnt impress! Don't believe in your skills in NewYork to get the job done!!,

"You don't know what you're talking about Old Man! Walsh was getting old & had to go!!You media guys know nothing!!! "

"Whom you calling old ? Mike ? You do not appear to know me in my younger days..."
"Fired ? Your not going anywhere Mike just yet, you need to prove yourself to me"
"Listen if You do not get Knicks into round 1 & winning a playoff series in 2011/2012 I'll beat your butt !! "
"Knicks management won't have to Fire you cause I'll end it for you next spring ..bonsai!"
