from the way he's played so far, i think Mozgov first needs to master some basic fundamentals like catching the ball in the paint, boxing out for rebounds, footwork in the paint, etc. before we should even worry about him learning this system... i think a stint in the D Leagues could help his confidence... i don't think anyone means for him to stay there all season, just for a month or so to give him a chance to break out of his funk... he obviously has talent otherwise DW would never have signed him to begin with... i think his confidence is completely shot right now & he looks like a lost sheep.

He seems to have regressed since the beginning of the year, and has not risen to the challenge and made adaptations to his game.

agree... didn't think they had a chance tonight & they went & beat 1 of the top teams in the NBA this year in their own building... very impressive.

It shouldn't be that surprising considering that they've been competitive in every game save maybe 2. This team is capable of playing with any team in the league when they execute properly. Now that Felton/Amar'e is jelling, that opens up everything else.

I'm concerned about the C spot without Turiaf. Also the poor play of Timo n AR isn't helping matters. We need to take advantage of the weaker teams and try to get healthy in time for the tougher schedule.

in the NBA any team can beat another if they're running on all cylinders... considering the level of teams we have beaten this year i didn't expect to beat this Hornets team, but they surprised me w/this win... the Knicks are hot right now... i agree, if they can get on a roll here w/the rest of this soft schedule that's coming up, then they can build up some serious momentum to carry them through the rougher patches that will inevitably follow.

Mike said that Timo just needs to make the mental adjustments. He's going too fast. He said that in practice he's not dropping passes and not making bad moves with the ball. I think I saw enough from him before he got here that it's clear he can catch and finish. Doing it here tho can put some pressure on guys and they don't react the same way that they would without the psychological pressure of being an NBA game. He's pressing. I think Timo is actually closer to being ready than it seems. If he has some success finishing, he's gonna start to gain that confidence he needs. If he had only pump faked a couple of times he would've at the least gone to the line if not scored the ball.

this is why i didn't think it was a great idea to be starting this kid right off the bat... it would have probably served him better to be eased into the rotation... when he got owned by Blake Griffin that night, dude looked like he was about to cry... we need to build this kid back up again, & letting him go against lesser competition in the D Leagues might help to achieve that right now... this isn't like last year when we had no realistic chance to make any noise in the playoffs... even tho it's still early in the season, right now this team needs to value every single game as a potential playoff clincher

Did I watch a different game from everyone else last night? I thought we played well enough to beat a very average team having an off night. Thought it was a pretty boring, poorly played game and certainly far from our best of the season.

Obviously, I'm aware that beating a team with a record as good as NO's on the road is an achievement. But with Paul playing a mediocre game and West out, they looked like one of the weaker teams we've played. Really, who is on that team? How can they have gotten all those wins?

Now, we can't do anything but beat the teams we play, so I'm not blaming the Knicks for having played a soft schedule to date. And I'm glad to have gotten NO on an off night. But to me, the most impressive thing about last night's win was that we got it despite playing a pretty weak game ourselves. Amar'e was awesome. Felton had a good game. Shawne did some good things. Everyone else was below par.

yes you watched a different game last night.

in the beginning of the game hornets were playing far from average, and would have beat an average team.

I actually kind of agree with most of this. I wasn't too impressed by New Orleans. Chris Paul seemed out of it. And they were missing their leading scorer.

It's definitely a quality road win... but our best win of the season? I think there have been better ones... or games that were played better on both sides. New Orleans didn't put up much of a fight last night.

I vote for the games in Charlotte or Detroit where they won tightly contested games in the final minutes as being far more important victories early season.

But I'm glad we're debating victories and not losses

If the Knicks didn't apply the pressure they did, New Orl. would surely have taken the victory. When you see a team making mistakes and not hitting shots, It's hard to give credit to the winning team, but on the road against a team that is tough at home, it's a good win. Not the best of the season IMO, but a good win.

The Hornets really need West. Looking at the rest of that team it's hard to really get excited. Even with West I like our roster better. Amar'e, Felton, Gallo, Chan & Fields is a better group IMO than CP3, West, OK4, Ariza etc. At some point Knick fans are gonna have to start believing in this team and giving them credit for being one of the better teams in the league. This team is young, but the talent level is pretty darned high. The slow start plays a part in this, but mostly I think fans are letting past history jade their view and a tendency for Knick fans to refuse to accept that their team could really be good.

In practice you learn the system that the Knicks use. In D-League you learn some other system.

That's why it would be smart to do what the Spurs do (I think it's them at least). They have their D-league team run the same system they do so if they bring someone up or send a young player down to get playing time, they're not lost when they come back.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Good point. If the Spurs can afford their own D League team, the Knicks can.
