I hope this is the result of seeing Stat show no fear and not a break in the weather. Looking at Amare's expression after that first highlight dunk off the pick and roll from Felton was that of a guy who just had a big weight taken off his shoulders.

Mosgov and Randolph still learning. One thing I don't get is why is it when Randolph comes into the game the Knicks decide to play slow ball, it doesn't make sense. Good work at subbing by D'Antoni, looks like he is getting a better feel for the team.

Gallo is becoming much more confident with his handle. I liked the fact that after that last missed three he tore up the court to get back on D. Fields is something else, all I can think of saying.

Felton is definitely showing some swagger these days and more importantly he is backing it up. Still too many risky passes but he looks like he is starting to get the P&R going with more teammates as the season goes on.

I liked how D'Antoni staggered the final substitutions to give the standouts a chance to get some love from the crowd. So many players earning a standing O, things are changing.

Chandler can't bring it like that every game, cause he's not guarded by Troy Murphy or Kris Humphries every game.

I liked Gallo's effort on D. He was pretty invisible on O again, but I'm suspecting a lot of it has to do with the system than the player. When we already have two players constantly in motion off the ball in Fields and Chandler, it's tough for Gallo to do the same without clogging the court.

Felton/Amare were great. Worked the PnR to perfection tonight -- largely cause Farmar/Lopez sucked at defending it, but still...we saw a lot more passes in Amare's comfort zone.

Not really. League Pass has spoiled me. Knicks beating lottery teams doesnt get me hyped. Our defense is still a bad.

Blocks do not equal defense.

Which defensive player in particular are you interested in?
Please don't say Melo or Arenas.

Im not interested in one defensive player. 1 defender isnt going to help the team defense.

Amare needs help. Gallo and Randolph have been highly underwhelming so far.

Well you spoke about a trade, and then spoke about defense. I'm just interested in what type of trade you're talking about.

I want Carmelo ASAP then focus a little more on defense with the players we have left. Felton, Carmelo, and Amare are all capable defenders.

I love that the Knicks are winning and playing hard but God forbid one of the starting 5 get hurt.

Those 5 are logging in a lot of minutes..

Is this a joke? Everyone is capable of playing defense. These 2 players do not play much of it, however.

Trading for Carmelo does not improve the defense.

Chandler definitely has the skills to blow by a defender. That run Wilson went on a few weeks ago, he blew by almost everyone. He has the skills. Regardless of how bad their defense was the Knicks haven't been able to run the P&R efficently against anyone so its something to build on. Progress.

Carmelo has defended his way out of the first round one time. I'm all for signing him as a free agent, but unless we get him in a good trade, I am very reluctant to empty the cupboard for him.

Anubis - would you give up Gallo, AR, Chandler and Fields for him? that's what it's going to take.

The Perfect guys for this system are guys that share the ball in addition to being able to score themselves. So a Lebron, CP3 type of player is gonna do well here. We have a ball sharing system and we don't need ball hogs. Whoever we end up bringing in has to be a guy like that. I don't see the Knicks giving up on the young and relatively cheap roster just to bring in a one way player like Melo. I thought maybe Dolan would demand that a deal be made, but it seems that maybe he's not meddling as much as I thought, cuz if so I believe Melo would be here. He would make sure they gave up whatever it took to get him. Kudos to Dolan for staying out of it.

I now believe that any moves we make will be smaller and more focused on specific needs. We know what the holes are and i'm sure that DW does too. He's gonna be thrifty about this and surgical. A Melo deal is a hacksaw approach, rather than a scalpel.

Okay, that's crazy talk. Look at the production those players put up tonight and ask how Melo and this shell of a team replaces it. Look at Miami, man. You need 8 good players in this league. We trade 3 of our top 6 guys and we will not be improved.

Solid win that was needed for many reasons. People not excited about us beating "cupcake" teams must remember we were one last season and we lost to many of them in a row early this season. This team isn't championship contender, but they are getting better and learning how to win. As a guy that wanted Mike D gone a few weeks ago, I can see he has adjusted his style a little and has the team more focused on a solid all-around game. We won't be defensive stoppers, but you can see the system is running well as a whole. Defense can and should improve, but that brings my only realistic concern with this team:

We need a backup PG and C.

I love Stat and I'm so glad he is here, but he is no C and shouldn't play it no matter what. Mozgov isn't ready for prime time and Turiaf is fragile. We need a C desperately. I can't believe why we didn't try to sign Earl Barron again because even though he wasn't great, he did play solid for us and right now we need solid minutes from a C, especially on the defensive end. Don't know who, but if we are serious on a playoff run, we have to get another C.

But maybe the most pressing need is a backup PG that can run the PnR efficiently. Felton, along with Stat, has become my favorite player for his toughness and grit. Perfect NY point guard, but as with Stat, we are asking too much from them. They can't keep logging heavy minutes. We need a backup PG for yesterday.

10 and 9? My gosh!!! A winning record!? Freaking love it!

I look around the league and I see stars surrounded by role players. Ask yourself are guys like Chandler, Fields, Randolph, and Gallo the difference between us winning and losing? All 4 of those guys are replaceable.

good game against a week opponent.

I hope Melo was watching or will. Brook is a beast but we are small up front.

I hope Melo sees that favors has some work ahead of him, but won't be there when he is. Harris is fragile with a not so fragile contract.

Farmar is capable, but he is not the deal.

The lotto pick, oops, thats gone to Denver.

Melo can enjoy his big money and it is only one full season until they are in Brooklyn.

or Walsh can sign him and using appreciated assets he can further fine tune this team.

We are beating the teams we should beat. 10 new players coming together. We are going to get beaten by the teams that should beat us but we are getting better.

I liked Gallos hustle rebounding and defense. Moz got schooled by a one of the few fundamentally should post players in the league. So did Amare.

Felton is the straw that stirs this team.

Forget the indvidual efforts, its a team thing.

I look at the Lakers and see size and skill up and down their roster. Same with Boston.

I want Carmelo, but I want to get him for free at season's end and add him to our core. I don't want to destroy the core for one guy.

Felton
Fields
Melo
Gallo
Amare
Wilson
AR
Turiaf
Toney

you have those 9 guys and maybe one more big, you are talking legit championship aspirations. Melo knows it. He'll wait.

I'd only give up 2 at most...even then, my dream scenario would be to get Melo for just Gallo/AR, and whatever other filler (TD or Walker, and/or picks). If we can trade for Melo and still keep: 1 of Gallo or Chandler (Chandler would be the better fit off the bench) + Fields + Turiaf...I think we'd be in excellent shape. We'd still have our starting 5, except upgrade Gallo to Melo, still have Chandler off the bench (or Gallo off the bench if Chandler is moved), and can fill the rest of the rotation with whoever we didn't give up: Mozgov, 'Buike, Walker or TD, etc.

If we have to give up 3 out of our 4 prospects (Gallo, AR, Chandler, Fields)...then Melo can wait till FA.

Take out Wilson and Turiaf as they'd have to be let go to clear cap space to sign Melo. Still a solid rotation, but we'd lose some depth regardless if we trade or sign Melo.

So you rather risk not getting Melo at all?

None of those guys have shown enough this season to make them keepers in a Carmelo Trade.

Great game last night. Who cares if the Nyets suck, they still lace 'em up and come to play.

And how about that Brook Lopez. Dude is going to be a star big in this league. Put him next to Amare and we would be a top 3 in the EC. I'd much rather get a player like Brook than Melo.
