Melo needs to be a Knick. No one wants to give up young talent adding Melo gets the team into the playoffs and takes them deep into the playoffs. With Melo you have a player that requires attention with double teams and constant opposition focus on where he is, this allows Amare more room to operate. It gives the Knicks Knicks two players that require double teaming. Gallo doesn't require a double team.

This is a business and jobs are at stake and wins and losses are the results that everyone is measured by. Melo gets them more wins and secures Walsh's and MDA's job. So far Walsh has made deals that have been decent. I highly doubt that Walsh would trade Randolph and Gallo in a package. He is a shrewd dealer and knows what he is doing. Every move he makes has a solid back up plan.

The deal that is going to go down will include Gallo, Curry, Douglas and Fields and a future number one. The Nuggets are looking for young assets and cap relief.

No way--I have to think they are more savvy than that. Winning is a process and the free agency was spread over 2-3 years. I have to think D Walsh and Isiah wont let this happen. IT likes Chandler and i think the other 2 guys and I believe Walsh like Gallo and randolph. What anyone else thinks in the organization doesnt matter--and that is obvious. Walsh won at Indiana because he had a multitude of big guys that were ENHANCED by Reggie Miller. We have built up a nice supply of big men and now next fA we can enhance the very promising team we have built.

First of all, BRIGGS stop mentioning the devil!!!

Next, The Godfather will not send all of that for Melo. Denver does not have any leverage. This is a buyers market since they are afraid to lose Melo South Beach style.

If this goes down this season then we only send Curry's contract, The Mayor, TD or Walker plus 2nd rd pick(s) for Melo.

Let me see you run a 500mm $ business. Do you let a player dictate who you trade him for--if that is the case? Aren't there many destinations in the NBA that are palatable at the bottom line to Carmelo?
So right now-- 29 teams will call and I say put your best deal on the table---I eliminate some==and then ask the other 10--were close but not close enough--this team has offered this--what can you do to sweeten the pot. So this fantasy that Denver will take less is just the fantasy. They will ask for the brinks truck and they have 29 teams who will be calling my man. I can break my back for one player who has only proven to be a very good all star but below the top tier. Its almost like a Tmac--great player but..... no Im not backing up the truck for a trade for this type of player. If he wants to come to NY --let the team build through the year and get him for FREE IF we EVEN need him!!!!! and I question that!!

No team is going to give up big assets for Melo unless he gurantees that he will resign with them.

You know we can argue back and forth about what we think is a fair deal/ overpaying, but the truth is it's Denver that will decide, and I fully expect them to follow in Toronto's footsteps last season when they were so sure that they weren't losing Bosh they wouldn't even entertain offers, until amazingly the actual offseason itself, when they were STILL in a deluded state and thought that they could then trade Bosh to a team of their chosing and get back equal value. When teams are staring into the brink and about to lose their franchise player, they become arrogant and delusional. If we offered them Chandler+Curry, they will laugh at us, if we offer Gallo+Chandler+Curry, they will laugh at us (according to the not-very-reliable Hoopsworld when they asked about the Gallo+pick+Curry they got a text back saying "not even close to interested"), even if we offered AR+Gallo+Chandler+Curry, they would still laugh at us- I really don't see a deal being done, the Knicks and Nuggets are on two different planets right now, with what we're balking at including being now where near what the Nuggets are expecting. Really I hope we don't trade for him, and they lose him for nothing- screw these arrogant GM's and Denver fans who think we're such a lowly team with no talent that could dare grace their team.

I hope your are right about them not wanting any of our trade offers. Melo can join our team next year for the MAX.

Nalod wants to keep the core of Amare-Gallo-AR and move anyone else after that to get melo.

Its not was Gallo has been but what he MIGHT turn into.

NOt a star, but the kind of glue player that does lots of things well and keeps defenders honest while Amare and Melo go off.

I got a trio of Forwards and Two wings.

Amare-AR-Gallo
Felton-Melo

Im not worried about who guards opponents Center cuz that dudes gonna be gassed in 5 minutes.

Who guards Shaq? We run Shaq off the court. Who guards Pau? We can handle him. who guards Big Baby? He is gassed in 6 minutes! Then let Turiaf help when we get in foul trouble. Who guards Dwight HOward? He'll be in foul trouble trying to keep up with our boys. Any of our guys can pull him out of the paint. If he wants to stay there, we'll shot the midrange.

Thats my hope.

I want Melo but AR and Gallo are Ute's I want to see develope. I want a present team but not at the expense of the future.

Melo should want to keep a knick team with as many assets as possible. It makes winning easier going forward.

But Melo wants his money too.

I hope Wheel Chair Walsh don't give it way like FDR did at Malta!

I know the Nuggs have to save face, but if Melo wants kNicks he won't sign with any other So it don't matter what Orlando offers. Besides, Denver won't take back Rash-hard Lewis. They have Birdman who is as good as Gortat. ONly Vinces contract is attractive but Melo and Rash-hard are redundant.

Only the Russian is our concern.

Eddy, Wilson, cash and Azbukake is my offer. 3 for one.

If we can, do they have any contracts they want to dump? WE got money! ALways got Dolans dumb ass money!

Melo is back channeling his way out.

Are you kidding me, they are not giving up all that for no Melo, I highly doubt the the Magic or the Knicks are gutting there young core, or anything of significants to get melo.

That would essentially rid you of any chance at a title run(this year), getting melo is more like getting the missing piece to solidfy your title chances, if you give up to much, whats the purpose..

I don't understand the thinking here. You want to sign Melo next year or wait to see how the young develop, there is a good chance you will lose a chance at him. Well to do that you would have to clear cap and that would mean losing players like Chandler, Azubuike and Curry to free agency. Your better off trading for Melo right now and get him on your books. This way you can at least offer Chandler or Azubuike a contract. Anyway you look at it to get Melo you are going to lose players in a trade or to free agency to create cap. I don't understand some of the logic here but I am not willing to sacrifice another year. I'm tired of playing the next year game. Melo is proven he fits the MDA system like a glove. If it were up to me this deal goes down. I'd be willing to throw Jerome Jordan in there too.

The Knicks are not really giving up a lot for Melo this is a very fair deal. This is Melo one of the top 5 wing players in the league you can't pass that up to see how some of our young develop. If your passing up on a chance at Melo then you guys are afraid of success. All I got to say is you have to match up with Miami, Orlando and Boston. You guys think to yourselves can we at this moment match up with these guys or hold our own against them. Melo gives you an opportunity to compete at the highest level.

I often said currently the Knicks are 36 win team at best until we see how they make out on the potential end. Maybe if things break right the Knicks see 40-45 wins. If Melo is on the team its easily a 50+ wins team.

Carmelo and Amare making the max. Neither play much D or do anything else other than score. Carmelo's scoring game is just so smooth I'd love to have him.

Melo and Amare would make us a top 3 team. The thing is having Gallo and Randolph in the wings is essential to our future success because Amare's knees aren't going to last 4-5 years.

Melo IS a franchise player in his prime. He wants to be traded. We have to go for him as we need him/a franchise player to win a Championship. Walsh is doing this right as opposed to Isiah. Make a seemingly reasonable but lowball offer. By offering Curry and Gallo, we are giving them 1 headache and 1 very talented young player who won't be a francise player. Plus a #1 pick 4 years from now. We come out very well with this.

I would also throw in Jerome Jordan and another 2nd round pick.
Or substitute Chandler for Gallo and add Bill Walker, depending upon what might work for Denver. But we don't have to gut the young talent.....just give something somewhat reasonable.

And after Carmelo Anthony, there is not a single player in the FA market. If we lose out on Melo, we're stuck in mediocrity unless Danilo Gallinari and Anthony Randolph reach these unrealistic expectations some here have of them.

We've been dead for a decade. I've waited enough. The idea of waiting on youth while we're winning 40 games every year and watching Miami win titles sickens me. I will never understand the fetish some here have with young players and this "homegrown" bs, as if it counts for something. In the end, it's all about WINNING and Melo gives us a player to counter LeCon and Dwyane Wade in the 4th quarter. Gallo and Randolph will NEVER be as good as Melo. When Melo was 20, 21 years old, he was winning a National Championship. Gallo and Randolph weren't even the best players on their losing teams!

The people who are purporting a melo trade are not dealing in reality. Denver will take calls from 29 teams--there will be a one up mentality--especially or for teams like Dallas Portland or even the Nets who could retain him. You're either going to have to give up the farm--Chandler Gallo AR Fields
pick. Anyone willing to give up that?

So far Walsh has made deals that have been decent. I highly doubt that Walsh would trade Randolph and Gallo in a package. He is a shrewd dealer and knows what he is doing. Every move he makes has a solid back up plan.

The deal that is going to go down will include Gallo, Curry, Douglas and Fields and a future number one. The Nuggets are looking for young assets and cap relief.

The people who are purporting a melo trade are not dealing in reality. Denver will take calls from 29 teams--there will be a one up mentality--especially or for teams like Dallas Portland or even the Nets who could retain him. You're either going to have to give up the farm--Chandler Gallo AR Fields
pick. Anyone willing to give up that?

if the nuggets trade him somewhere he doesn't want to be then he plays it out and we hold the upper hand a year from now.

i disagree briggs.. melo is holding on the cards. if he gets traded somewhere he doesn't want to go, he's going to leave after this upcoming season. i think the price-tag on him is pretty moderate right now. it's either gallo or AR, but not both and definitely not chandler also.

I raise you yesterday's stale bread crusts, the eggs shells from this morning's breakfast, and my EuroRail pass from 1997. Come on bro. These things are not going to make or break a deal for Carmelo.

there is the risk anthony takes -- if the cba alters max $$$ and years it could alter what his options are... if he does go and s&t doesnt get wiped out, where ever he is, you will probably have to give up something to do a max deal even in fa.

i'm with the group preaching patience. cats seem very thirsty for blockbuster moves. for the first time ever, we're actually in a position to dictate the pace and cats still wanna rush in. i respectfully disagree with the philosophy that we have to strike now. if someone beats us to the punch, so be it. we're no longer the desperate team in the NBA. we can pick and choose what we want to do and that is a privilege we have not had in almost two decades.

I think some arent looking at this from the Nuggets point of view. Giving up Anthony equals automatic rebuild mode. They have no upcoming star prospect on that team. I doubt Carmelo turns down a trade to a team where he can win.

While Gallo/AR, Chandler, and filler sound like a good offer from our perspective I doubt Nugget fans are doing somersaults.

I think we also need to consider this is just Anthony trying to get Denver to put a team around him. Denver has alot of expiring deals to work with.

Nah--I don't believe that. Teams don't operate like that. A team like LAC for example--they can give up Al Faroq Eric Bledsoe Ryan Gomes and 2 #1 picks--and absorb the rest of Melos contract. That puts Melo in LA to play with Baron Davis Kaman Eric Gordon etc...LA is LA my man and that teams would be good. Once hes in LA with a good team--he could easily like the lifestyle--its not cut and dry--your fantasying it. How about Portland--how about a number of teams? Portland could be a great teams with him and have the nice pieces to get a deal done.
