Havent you watched any of these Youtube videos? a 4-5 minute highlight video is all you need to form a solid opinion.

The Nets new Russian owner Prokhorov, tried to upstage us by putting a large billboard outside of the Garden. He must have egg on his face now that we have signed one of the best young Russian basketball talents. The Nets just signed Johan Petro as their back-up center. They ain't going anywhere with that signing.

How about "Timaaay", South Park style.

I'm down for this. Just hope he moves a little better than the SP character.

That's a good point. Prokhorov slaps Dolan, so Dolan slaps him back - but a little more subtly. I wonder if that was one of the reasons for the signing. I wouldn't put that past Dolan, though it doesn't sound like something that Donnie would do.

You are referring to Johan Petro.....who is French, not Russian. And not very good. Just signed by the Nyets.

I had the same thought.

I think Mozgov is pretty raw but let's see how he does before I comment to much. He supposedly made great improvements in his game this past year.

This weekend, we acquired a raw, but athletic big (Mozgov) and talented athletic forward (Randolph), an athletic point (Felton) who likes to run, and an athletic 2 (Azubuike) with a good shot. There all athletic and they will all help us on d.

I LOVE the play at 0.43. throws up a total brick from the foul line, commits an awesome offensive foul to get the board, just creams the guy, then tosses it in.

He sure doesn't shy away from contact! A good trait for playing in the NBA.

I also like the play at 1:00 when he spins to the left and puts the ball in with his left hand. Inside players who can put the ball in with either hand become much more productive.

the only thing i got from that clip was that he's tall, skinny & active around the rim (activity around the rim is never a bad thing)... still, that midrange J he displayed there was pretty ugly... hopefully he's got some more NBA skills than that.

I really don't like spending $3M a season on an unknown like this guy. That's Lottery Pick salary. I think it would have been much better to just re-sign Earl Barron or sign a cheap veteran like Steven Hunter or Tony Battie. For $3M, this Timofey Mozgov better be a rotation player. I also find it hard to believe Mike D'Antoni will even play him when he never played Darko Milicic or Chris Wilcox. Seems like a waste of money to me. : /

Spending $3M on a athletic 7 footer is how you go from good to great if you get lucky with that player. Russian's buyout was $2.4M so that's why the high figure.

Wilcox and Darko kinda sucky for MDA examples. Wilcox just played the same minutes on Detroit and they want to cut him after his first year or a 2 year deal. Darko? Has he done anything in this league?

Darko was pretty good for Minnesota once he moved over there. Darko could actually shot and move and block shots and if we didn't play that guy how are we gonna play this guy?

I'm not against the signing but its confusing to me. What it means is that we have to make a few moves or dump another player to free up max salary for next year to bring in Melo, so with that being the case it makes it hard to believe that were committing long term money to this guy who is completely unproven and apparently was not good enough to have been drafted.

Timofey Mosgov just doesn't seem like a Mike D'Antoni type player. Has he ever played this type of player in Phoenix or here in New York? I can't think of any.

I'm hoping the contract isn't actually evenly dispersed through the three years. Hopefully we frontloaded it, since the extra cap space won't help this year, but would leave us more space for next.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

you watched Twolve games? Man, dude helped the team win 2 games in the 24 he was there. Really, what did he do?

Even if the Timofey only does Dleague next year, you don't think a team would take a flier on him if the Knicks wanted to trade him? I dont think the Knicks would have ANY problem moving some players if Melo came up. None whatsoever.

Risk reward.

Have we ever had this much beef and length on our front line? This guy sounds like a moose.

Maybe this is the enforcer who is going to give up some hard fouls against the guy whose posse questioned Walsh's virility?

This signing is all about the kind of players Walsh wants on a team. Based on the comments I read about his offensive skills I can't see that MDA would want this guy as a 5. Getting this guy is all Donnie. I think there is some tension going on between him and MDA. I also think the GS trade is one Walsh wanted more than MDA.

We have enough bulk to actually inspire some fear in people who try to drive on our basket. Folks expecting a free ride to our hoop are going to be facing a rude reality this season.

By the way- how does this set back our cap room?

Hey Palladin 55 I don't hide that Im not really a fan of how mDA coaches basketball--maybe it looks snazzy but I prefer the way DW built up the Indiana frontline--hey that was a time when there were many big teams and getting to the basket wasnt easy. We just saw a monsterous Laker team win it all two times in a row. You have to be able to play defense and rebound to win and you need big guys to score easy points and clog the lane on D. If I had my pick for this team--I would go with a Mark jackson--he had good things to say about Randolph and I just see him-=--as a guy who played for a lot of good coaches--he was here when Pitino used 10 guys --I just think a guy like M Jackson would be better for this team. Thats just the way I see it. I see Mark Jackson like a Scotty Brooks like coach.

I am totally in on an MJAX hire. He has tremendous character on and off the court and is a leader. This is a young, rebuilding team that needs a guy that will mentor and coach its young players. I don't think D'Antoni is that guy. He certainly hasn't been the past two years.

Agree

mark jackson as head coach would be a kind of move isiah would make...

pass...

sorry, did i say pass?
