you're seeing similar things take place with denver and now atlanta.

teams with sort of wild card personalities (like josh and kmart...and even melo to an extent) need some big time coaches to control them. woodson + dantley don't have a grip on them when those players start getting challenged.

knicks fans want melo but i don't think he has the makeup to lead a franchise.

Charles Barkley said Atlanta is a bunch of guys who dont like each other. LOL. During the show they showed a clips of Woodson drawing up a play and no one was paying atttention and they were talking to each or staring into space.

Some teams dont handle adversity well.

i've never seen a team with such a terribly run offense win as many regular season games as they did. their bench is weak (sans crawford) but they win b/c of their defense. although josh smith and horford, imho, are overrated. joe johnson is the epitome of ball stopper and he just holds it for 20 seconds before deciding to do something. but he's good enough to score in those situations...but still, just a horribly run offense.

so in a different offense, could JJ be effective? i.e. not hold ball?

I think he would still hold the ball but the guy can definitely shoot the ball. Problem with Wade is he has no jumper after 7 years in the league.
