Watching a Knicks national telecast a few weeks back...Jeff Van Gundy thought the Knicks core for next season should be Lee, Chandler, Harrington and Nate... Go figure...

Yeah, I remember that.

Gallo most definitely got posterized by Casspi in both instances, no doubt about it... but at least the guy tries to block the shot... he isn't afraid to be on someone's highlight reel, he'll actually make an effort to play some defense... it's too bad all our frontcourt players don't have that same mentality... a couple of our guys are too damn scurred to be on someone's top 10 dunk highlight reel on ESPN these days to even bother.

Personally I don't write him off as just an outside shooter because I've seen the rest of his game. My question is when if ever does he stop wasting minutes on the court and impact the action?

i think he's too comfortable letting other guys take the spotlight & defers to them too much... he's a young kid & that should fade as he gains more experience & lets his talent take over... Wilson tended to do this as well during his rookie season & is starting to gain more confidence in his own shotmaking ability now... i think Gallo definitely shows the gumption to be a bigtime shotmaker & that's a positive sign.

I think some of it is that Gallo is simply a team player and he probably believes in passing the ball around and expecting it back. When teams swing the ball around eventually the opponent breaks down and someone gets a wide open shot. I bet this is Gallo's point of view so he naturally swings the ball around expecting it back and knowing when he gets the ball back he's going to be open.

Thing is half the Knicks don't play like that.

So I know people want Gallo to be more aggressive, and I do to, I even cited that bum scrub Ilaysov (whatever) from the Bucks and how dynamic the kid played against us. That's what I want Gallo to do and that's what I know Gallo can do.

It's funny though because we can say the same about Chandler and half the time Wilson plays how we want him to do (and did you ever notice those are always his good games) and half the time he plays like a brain dead chucker.

i've seen Wilson look lost too... neither of these kids are consistent yet, they're both still young & still figuring out how to be a consistent player at the NBA level... it's easy to praise Wilson for his awesome game the other night, he was unconscious, but we've also seen Gallo put up a 30 pt. game as well this season & this is his rookie season pretty essentially... i wouldn't trade either of these kids unless we got back a real nice player or a high ceiling prospect like Rubio in return.

I want to see more of both guys. They both look good so far considering the lack of a PG or Leader on the floor. We have some issues but to me they aren't the problem, so why even worry about them. Let's develop Hill and try to get some more talent in here and see how they develop. Why make any kind of final judgements based off this horrid roster?
I want to see what these kids do when we have a more balanced and talented core with a lead player added to the mix.

Before the season started Coach and Donnie Walsh said that this season is about the development of both Gallo
& Chandler....

So far nothing has changed nor have I read or heard neither one even mention that Chandler is available.

Not even the Rumors have Chandler going anywhere..

So WTF?....... Why are we talking bout a non-subject!!

Chandler the last game looked unstoppable and his game has evolved this year even with the worst PG in the
NBA running the show....

Gallo by far is my Favorite Knick hands down!!...... He has had as good a year as Chandler
but it's Gallo's first year........He gets no touches yet avg's 15 5 1.5 assists a steal a block!!!
Teammates feal insecure of him cause he has a definite future and no one other then Will really does!!
Gallo shoots the lights out for a first year player.... He has had off nights but even Kobe has off nights!
Everyone who knows basketball can see this kid has talent...... I dont even think he knows how good he is yet!!

I would like to keep both players but if the plan is Lebron Chandler will have no home here!

So if we can get say Rubio for Chandler I am all for it! If it's to trade him for nothing I say NO!!

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

is it draft position?

there appear to be 3 people who want to touch gallo.

1. you

2. fishmike

3. reggie evans

can you blame me?

The are different players. Both are versatile and can cover several positions but they have a different skill set. Chandler has turned into a very nice defensive player who can really score at a high rate near the basket. He doesnt have a great handle, is an average passer at best, limited court vision also. He's a really good finisher though and can play a legit 2/3/4 at any time in the game. Gallo has a much better handle, he's got range that totally stretches defenses and is a great passer. I think the two really compliment each other. Lee, Chandler and Gallo are a very solid rotation of guys to add too. You add your max FA type next offseason and possibly a play maker and this is a bigtime team that has the size and skill to matchup with anyone.

I still say after we sign Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Amare, etc that we trade JJ and Curry's expiring deals for Arenas to play PG

Papabear Says

Gallo can't take over a game. He looses the ball a lot when he trys to drive the ball to the hoop.

Gallo isn't a guard or breakdown penetration artist. He could develope his one on one moves to be a bit more of a crunchtime threat but let's give him a chance to develop. He hasn't even played 82 NBA games yet!!!!

what does that have to do with anything.. I am not white, yet I am one of his biggest fans.....

I am a Gallo fan myself, but I don't let it blind me to defeciencies in his game. He seems to disappear regularly during the game. It's as if someone has to smack him up side the head to get any fire from him. When a defender plays you in such a manner as to take away your primary weapon(the 3 ball) then high IQ kicks in to bring on your secondary move. We are challenged to name that move. His defense, while adequate at times, is a half step slow. This enables him to block shots on help defense, but lets him be beat man on man. The arguement that this is his rookie season does not hold water. He has been playing starter minutes for a large portion of the season. If, at the beginning of the next season, or after the expected trade of Harrington we do not see a significant jump in productivity, then i'm afraid that some of the shine will be off of this pick.

I agree about Gallo's ball handling. It is funny because some people say it is a strength and I remember reading different scouting reports on him pre-draft where some scouts called it a strength and others called it a weakness. Gallo has a high dribble and looks for the ball when he is dribbling. I think he will be a crunchtime threat like Reggie Miller was eventually.

so are you saying the rest of us are blinded to his defeciencies? I don't think any of the gallo fans are... we are just not blinded by hate where we have to accentuate his defeciencies in order to prove that gallo is human and to somehow try to mitigate his popularity within the knick fanbase... If people are looking for a flawless player, then I am sorry, the are in the wrong universe.. that guy doesn't exist.... Every single player in this league has flaws, what I don't get is how some people feel the need to keep bringing up his flaws everytime they see a thread where gallanari receives some sort of praise..

To me the real is simple: The top three players we are targeting are wing players. Bron, Wade, Joe J
Only if we end up getting Bosh does Wil Chan become valuable. So trying to give him up in trade to dump Jeffries is a higher percentage move.
