I'm already looking forward to NEXT year's trading deadline when the Knicks can dangle Curry and Jefferies contracts. They should use that as a selling point...oh btw Lebron/Wade we have some fatty expirings we can use to get you some midseason help for an established veteran..low priced role players..draft picks...
What are we going to get in return for Curry? Teams that are going to want him and Jefferies will be teams that want to dump unwanted salary. Those two guys are most valueable either for netting us an expiring this season, or for just coming off of our books next season.
I'm actually very ok with just letting Curry and Jefferies come of the books. What could they get us in return?
I was thinking a veteran whose team is in rebuilding mode and doesn't want to pay the next X years off the contract.
Ex: If there were a Zach Randolph type situation where his current team is loaded and they need to dump his salary.
We could package Curry/Jeffries with Gallo or Chandler to get a disgruntled Chris Paul who is tired of his team's cheapskate ways.
A lot of guys who are undesirable to us right now might look better with a year knocked off their contracts.
Maybe NJ drafts Wall and wants to dump Devin Harris. Maybe Toronto decides Calderon is not the answer and MDA wouldn't mind a PG who can hopefully still shoot the hell out of the ball
Phoenix could want relief (Sarver is all about the bottom line) and give us Barbosa
Philly could be looking to deal Iggy if they can't deal him this season.
Maybe Orlando doesn't wanna pay Gortat anymore.
Minnesota could keep Kevin Love and try to get rid of Jefferson or Sessions.
Can Memphis afford to pay Rudy Gay AND Marc Gasol AND match an offer someone makes to RFA Mayo?
We'd basically be in the same position that Houston is in with T-Mac where they can let him expire and clear cap space for FAs or forgo the FA process and just trade for someone.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please
