One SG traded 10mil. One PF traded 17mil. 2010 cap space... Priceless!!!

Walsh is vindicated and all fans rejoice!!!

Crawford had some value. He should have traded Zach months ago. He drafted a 19 yr old with a 49 yr old back.

Nobody is vindicated yet.

No, Walsh is vindicated, your just clueless!, I mean trade Zach for a Second rounder, yeah's that's a much better deal, NOT!.

Clippers get Zach Randolph from Knicks for Mobley, Thomas
The forward is averaging 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds for New York. Mardy Collis is also part of the deal.
By Lisa Dillman

1:50 PM PST, November 21, 2008

Reporting from Philadelphia -- The reshaping of the Clippers continued with the acquisition of forward Zach Randolph and guard Mardy Collins from the New York Knicks for shooting guard Cuttino Mobley and forward Tim Thomas.

Randolph is averaging 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds, leading the Knicks in both categories. Collins has appeared in nine games, averaging 2.2 points. The teams were scheduled to go over the details of the deal and the respective contracts with the league in a conference call this afternoon.

The move gives the Clippers someone with the ability to play in the low post, and makes them younger. Randolph is 27; Mobley and Thomas are 33 and 31, respectively. Mobley had been averaging 13.7 points and the oft-injured Thomas 9.5.

"I'm a little upset," said Mobley, in a voice barely above a whisper. "It was a surprise. I mean, I liked our team. I didn't give up on our team. I don't know what the owner was thinking, and don't know what anyone was thinking.

"I thought we were going to come around. It's hard. It's hard because I like all the guys a lot. It's tough."

Talks with various moving parts have been going on between the teams the last two weeks, and the Clippers made their last offer this afternoon. Earlier in the week, talks stalled when the Knicks wanted Marcus Camby in the deal.

The Knicks, who are intent on clearing cap space for 2010, picked up forward Al Harrington from the Warriors in exchange for guard Jamal Crawford, in a separate deal.

This just in from the LA Times, about 20 mins ago.

That's so damn crazy. Clippers will have to make another move cause I can't see Camby, Kaman, or Zach being happy coming off the bench.

thats a big mistake no doubt.

Walsh has always been good about sticking to his plan. The Pacers was a good example, and not all of it worked out. Dale Davis for Oneil = brilliant. Rose for Artest/Miller = brilliant. Antonio Davis for Bender = total backfire. But all trades were part of the same plan. He sticks to his vision. I can appreciate that.

If Walsh gets us into the lottery the next 2 years and picks solid players and then can sign some top free agents, he gets a pass on Gallinari. I doubt he'd deviate much from his plan here now. It's been so widely stated and has now been put into action that I'm sure he'll do everything he can to follow through on it.

Looks like Jerome and Malik are logging some minutes in the center position tonight.

We did not get one draft pick. Exactly why would James come here if we have no players. Right now DG and Chandler look like the only prospects that will be here in 2 years. Unless we are going to sign James and Bosh (which is a BIG if), this team is still going to be light on players.

I guess you have to start somewhere but man we could not even squeeze out a 2nd round pick.

[Edited by - thegame on 21-11-2008 16:56]

You can't expect a good draft pick back when you're dumping your big long term contracts on someone else. Walsh is having enough troubles with his own draft picks anyway. Gallinari has set the Knicks back already. Walsh can't afford another screwup.

So thats the reason not to get a pick? Please.

Well yeah. Dumping a notorious malcontent with a ridiculously large contract that prevents you from having any hope for getting under the cap in 2010. I'd say that's enough. Don't be greedy. Just say thank you to the Clippers and run away laughing.

Dude.... Welcome back.

Thank you BJ.

1 - we don't have the 2nd draft pick you're referring to
2 - if healthy, he won't need a "pass" on Gallo, far from it

Its already been stated, but a pick or a young player (D.Jordan) would have been icing ontop of icing but the fact that we moved contracts deemed unmovable by most is a victory in itself. Good job by Walsh.

He should have looked to pick up late first rounders and early seconds in last years draft when a bunch of players fell. But I'll overlook that for now because Zach is gone. From now on though, he needs to be collecting draft picks and keeping them, not letting them go like he did Patrick Jr.

Mobley had 7 steals in one game the other night. He will do well in the Knicks system. Fugazzy fits the type of player Mike D likes also. Maybe Eddy will make a comeback.

I hope Fugazy gets a standing ovation his first game back at the Garden.

We definitely need to pick up a late first in 09-10 draft being that the Jazz will get our pick (most likely lotto). It woud also help if Walsh and staff can keep an eye on burried or misused talent, I.E G. Green, A. Morrow etc. Good young talent on the cheap.

i wonder if Utah would accept Lee now to give us rights to our pick in 2010 back?

Here's the pick you all wanted lol.
The Clippers may also be sending a future second-round pick to New York in the deal, according to a source.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
