You know what's funny. The next day Palin had stories on Entertainment Tonight, Hollywood Insider, Extra. The irony is that the McCain campaign tried to equate Obama to Paris Hilton/Britney Spears. And Sarah Palin has become just that. She's become a tabloid princess, tailor fit for cashier checkout consumption.

Bush ran on the same image

And just how many tabloid type people are out there? Millions! You just made a part of the point that I been trying to make. That's why he picked Palin, to appeal to those types of Americans, who are mainly middle America. He also picked her' to appeal to the many pissed off women who felt Hillary got a bad rap (which is exactly' why Obama should have picked Hillary). When I said Palin was clever, I didn't mean because she was some kind of highly intelligent person. The question is 'how many dumb people are still left over in middle America? You've all seen it yourselves. Both bush elections, the entire middle of America was plastered in Red states.

With places like Michigan, Ohio and Florida being extremely key battle ground states each time.

And your right again. How in the world could Bush have won 'twice' for crying out loud?? That means there's something wrong with middle America and this election will finally find out if they have grown or not. That's what I worry about the most.

I want a Democrat back in the white house, but I'm not going to sit here a lie to myself either in believing that we have it in the bag. That's foolish.

Michigan is a wrap. McCain pulled all staffers and resources out of the state last week.

And the type of people to which you speak of were not going to vote for Barack anyway, so its just wasted energy even thinking about them. Nothing happened to Hillary other then Barack running a better campaign and winning fairly --- the PUMA's are living in some sort of alternate reality at this point. Hilary endorsed Barack and McCain/Palin are diametrically opposed to her positions, so even putting her on the ticket obviously wouldnt of mattered. We are all smart enough to know that other "issues" are at play here.

All that said, McCain's chances are bleak. Might be time to contact Bin Laden. Since Bush probably has him on speed dial, he might get him to endorse Barack or something.

That's not exactly what I'm seeing, hearing, reading across as many boards, APs, word of mouths, etc. etc. etc. but I sure hope your 'theory' is right.

what theory?

Bush ran on the same image as her in 2000. Washington outsider, bring Democrats and Republicans together, down home every man image. The same image makers who made him have tried to make her. Coincidently the same image makers who destroyed McCain in 2000 work for him now. It's sad to see someone sell their soul like McCain has.

I find it interesting izybx claims to not be a Republican, but seems to parrot Fox News and the Republican talking points to a T. It's the tone McCain and Palin are setting. We're not the evil Republicans of the last 8 years anymore, we're brand new! I know I voted 90% of the time G W, but I'm a maverick! Accept your party affiliation and just accept what's happening. Much like this board, most of America is seeing that Obama/Biden are the right choice, and election day will prove that. Plus 58 seats in the Senate.

I just hope Obama didn't meet Isiah Thomas for 15 minutes in 1994 or the McCain campaign will try to say they were best friends and run commercials during the Knicks pre-season games. Watch for the Republicans to talk about NOTHING but Ayers, Rezko, Wright and ACORN for the next month. Why? Because they have nothing but people Obama may have met in the last 20 years in public service. All the while ignoring Keating, Libby, Troopergate, and of course the worst associate of all G W Bush.

I dont affiliate myself with any political party. I think that anybody who looks at themselves and see a Republican or a Democrat are selling themselves short. Am I conservative? Sure. Do I usually end up supporting Republican candidates? Yes. But I also have libertarian views that I doubt are "parroting" the talking points from fox news. My views are my own, and arent influenced by a talking head or a blogger.

Im not foolish enough to think that any party stands for anything else than the gratification the aspirations of rich egomaniacs. I respect Mccain, but I dont fool myself into thinking that hes anything other than a politician. I see Obama for what he is, a fraud. Neither of these men give a **** about you and I. I saw Obama for what he is when he said he "wasnt there that day" when Wright gave his racist speeches. I saw Mccain for what he is when he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. Until we can get soomeone who is honest and sincere, I will continue to shun both parties. Fell free to think of Obama as anything other than the conniving politician that he is. In four years, we will see what "change" has accomplished.

Because of Wright you think Obama is a fraud? That's thin. razor thin.

what do you think of stuff like this:

I mean, have you been in a room where someone told a racist joke and there were a few people around who felt uncomfortable and didn't really say anything but rolled their eyes and walked away? Has happened to me a millions times; doesn't mean I agree with what they said or anything nor does it mean I respect them in the least.

Im surew Obama is a very nice person. My point wasnt that Obama is a fraud, so much that all politicians are liars and egomaniacs, and he is no different. I havent got that opinion about him only from Wright, but that was an influencing factor.

I will agree izybx that all politicians are frauds to a certain extent. That is just the nature of politics. But the assertion that Obama is a radical or racist really has no basis other than conjecture. There is not one person who personally knows Obama who has said that he is anything but what he protrays himself to be, a well-educated liberal who is comfortable working with minorities and whites and who has fought for lower and middle class people for most of his career. Now will Obama do everything he says, probably not, but I do know that he will: (1) roll back the tax breaks for the rich and corporations, especially the oil companies who have been making ungodly amounts of money while we pay $4 for gas; (2) provide tax incentives for companies to keep jobs in America; (3) stop the erosion of the US Constitution that has occurred over the past 8 years; (4) get America focused on creating alternative renewable sources of energy and not simply drilling for more oil; and (5) stop the war in Iraq. Based on everything I have seen, I have no doubt he will accomplish these goals over the next four years and that is enough for me to vote for him. Whether he can get healthcare reform passed (I think he might) or overhaul the SS system (he probably won't be able to) are issues that are in question, but he seems smart enough to know what is and isn't a priority. Plus, while McCain ran around like a chicken with his head cutoff during the economic crisis, Obama's cool demeanor and effective strategy of working behind the scenes showed me and alot of people that the guy, unlike Bush and probably McCain, is not someone who jumps to conclusions or simply shoots from the hip. He is someone who thinks about what the right course of action should be before committing to a plan. It is time we brought thoughtful intelligence back to the Whitehouse.

well that's fair, but saying that all politicians are frauds is too blanket a statement and really doesn't add anything, right?
