So let me get this straight, all the Isiah naysayers saying we should rebuild are now gone...Isiah was really right in trying to retool on the fly...The problem was Isiah himself, not his/Dolan's ideas..These new cast members will get it right...It's not the methodology but the actor...

Finally, after years of defending Isiah and his methodology, I have come to the realization that rebuilding on the fly and over the cap can prove more difficult than the normal route through the draft...We tend to get flawed cast offs from teams that have erred in overpaying their one dimensional stars...I don't doubt the new management can do a much better job assessing talent... But after eight years of playing to the same Dolan tune of retooling...How do so many here find it so easy to sign on to the same script that has failed prolifically time and time again...The last three years may have been the most painful in my history of being a Knick fan..Yes, more painful than the Rory Sparrow, Ray Williams, Ken "the Animal" Banister years...Yet many here seem to be chanting for four more years...I'm shocked...

I don't see this as the issue being the actors but more the methodology...Altanta, New Orleans, Cleveland, Orlando, Utah, Toronto, Philly and Portland has me convinced...

Holfresh honestly, what the hell are you talking about?

I disagree. I think there are two extremes in how you coach. Riley's Heat teams in the 90's where guys practiced for 3 hours and had their own trainers is one extreme. I think D'Antoni is the other extreme. I also think that the guys on the roster only won 23 games and it is a veteran team. The Knick organization and team has lacked professionalism and class for several years now. I do not think that expecting individuals who have been a part of that to change because they want to be treated like men is a sound plan.

and here is the funny thing about phoenix and conditioning - they were able to get grant hill healthy and effective- such that Allan Houston thought of making a comeback there.

Perhaps Allan will suit up again for the knicks.

Now if you look back the Suns actually out rebounded their opponents defensively in 04-05(32.3-31.1), 06-07(31.5-30.5), 07-08(32.7-30.5)2007 PHX Stats.

Their BIG problem was that they shoot so well they don't have the chances to get offensive rebounds.

Joe, when you shoot well, like the Suns did, you cut down on the opponents defensive rebounding as well - in fact, based on the stats you provided, more so than your own offensive rebounding. In other words, since the defense is more likely to come away with any given rebound but there are less shots coming off one of the rims due to the high Suns fg%, the overall distribution gets pushed in the Suns favor. Its part of the reason why D'Antoni's uptempo strategy helped mask the rebounding leverage other teams had.

Point taken. D'Antoni came up with a system that not only minimized the importance of his teams offensive rebounding but also limited the chances of defensive rebounds for the opponent. To me it just looks like he managed to cover up a major flaw of his team (rebounding) so that they were able to perform to a level where it wasn't a detriment.

It's exactly the same type of principle that Mike Fratello used with the Terell Brandon/Bobby Phills Cavs where he walked it up the court and used 23 seconds off the shot clock because he knew his team couldn't score well.

Both Walsh and Mike D never, and I mean NEVER, had this kind of players...
This will be major test for them as GM/coach and as personalities.
It will not take long for Mike to bench 70 mils and play 10 mils of our "roster" and realize that most of these guys are not NBA players any more or never were.
Than the interesting part will come - how they will handle this?
I am not interested in bbal site of the story; bbal will be bad anyway; but more about the drama...
Looks like Dolan make it work. The conversion of Knicks from sport club to soap opera is extremely successful.
