meanwhile, back in the jungle...

"Walsh keeps his coaches on a very short leash. Hall of Fame coach Jack Ramsay coached only two years under Walsh, and veterans of the bench such as Dick Versace and George Irvine lasted only two. Ironically, Larry Brown, in one of his longest tenures, and Rick Carlisle lead the Pacers' longevity race with four seasons each. One of the keys is that Walsh has no patience for losing. Ramsay, Versace, and Brown were all gone as soon as their teams took a downward turn."

nyk4ever - absolutely.

A TV Dinner. No soup for you. No worries, me dj and bonn will save you some leftovers.

Donnie Walsh has a preference for facilitators at guard. The Marbury exit interview will be just that.

what do I look like, James Dolan?

If I treated everyone who wanted to celebrate the arrival of Lebron, I'd be picking up the check for at least 19,595 (capacity at The Garden) people. Nothing personal

HA

Actually, I'm looking forward to how Donnie makes his first chess moves via the draft and Summer League auditions as he sets the table for the blockbuster move in 2010.

Bonn - you already know I don't play amateur GM, nor do I play amateur GM online.

With that said... If Lebron is a Knick in 2009-10, I'll buy you and djsu dinner.

Wade, Bosh, Carmelo, Kaman, and Josh Howard will all be FAs that year and are all better than anyone we've ever gotten while ignoring the salary cap. I think you owe me dinner if we sign any of those players.

Allanfan - I didn't count the luxury suites. Those folks don't need a free dinner.

meanwhile, back in the states....

Larry Brown wants back in.

The Philadelphia 76ers executive vice president, who has been out of coaching for two years since being fired by the New York Knicks, said Wednesday that he hopes to land a college or NBA head coaching job next season, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

"I've got to figure out if I can get a coaching job," Brown said. "I want to get back so bad. I'm so bored."

Brown, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame who has coached teams to the NCAA Final Four and the NBA Finals, said it doesn't matter whether the next opportunity is in college or the pros. He just wants to be back in the mix.

"Mo [Cheeks] has been great to me and allowed me to get involved," Brown said of the Sixers' coach, according to the Inquirer. "I just miss it. I don't miss the games so much, but I miss being around the coaches and the players. I still have something to offer ... After my last experience [in New York], I just want to go where I can do a better job and move forward."

How about you just pick up the check for everybody that you ridiculed for suggesting that the salary cap mattered?

Oh right, same thing. It's all personal.

And Allanfan is right, it's 19,763.

You may not play amateur GM but you are THE ANSWER MAN right? Surely he would of had the sense to know getting control of the Cap was the ANSWER to properly rebuilding.

Just tell Donnie Walsh IT'S NOT HIS MONEY and everything will be fine as is.

The Answer Man Knows You Don't Paint A Masterpiece Overnight

Q. TrueBlue - You may not play amateur GM but you are THE ANSWER MAN right?

A. Yo dude, no need to shout.

To be certain, in this situation there are no pat answers to "rebuilding", and I expect a series of sequential moves from Donnie Walsh to set up 2011-12. Moving forward has less to do with money than it does with making decisions on the survivors for next season and the next 2-3 years.

Over the next 6 months, it has everything to do with how heavy Donnie decides to lean on the equity, advice and goodwill of New York City by having a series of private sit-downs with Looie, Patrick, Earl Monroe, Clyde, Cal Ramsey, Marv Albert, Dick Barnett, Willis, Bill Bradley, Cazzie, and yes ... Mark Jackson.

"Risk taking became a hallmark of Walsh’s style. Twice he hired Hall of Fame players with no coaching experience to become head coach — Larry Bird in 1997 and Isiah Thomas in 2000." - NYT

Mark Jackson would be a great fit for a team in transition.

The salary cap is only one element of The Renaissance as the off season will be over in a flash. Watch Donnie go "old school" and cut the in-game entertainment, in-game promotions and over-amped sound effects.

Bring back the white warm up jackets and Dancing Harry.

"I think the hiring of Donnie Walsh is a great move for Mr. Dolan as far as bringing in someone with his experience.... He understands New York being from New York. This is his bloodline. It's a great situation having new blood come in."

"Bringing in someone who's proven himself over a 25-year period is just going to allow everyone to see his pedigree. He's a guy who knows basketball, understands basketball and the best part of it he's from New York. He understands what the fans want."

"The fans have a right to feel how they feel... Our fans aren't ignorant. They're smart. You can't tell them one thing and do another thing. Be truthful to them. You can't lie to our fans. If you play bad, don't blame it on someone else."

"I obviously wasn't in Isiah's plans.... He talked about the guards going to be here next year. Maybe I'll be in Donnie's plans. If not, it will bother me not to play basketball here. I feel I got something to prove. I feel like I'm motivated in a different aspect after what I went through this year. I don't want to play anywhere else. I feel I have five years left at a high level. I'm 31, not 40."

"Bayless combines incredible speed, quickness and athleticism with a high level of intelligence and composure"

The "coachable" Jerryd Bayless, with Head Coach Mark Jackson as a tutor would be a match made in hoops heaven

Oohah's here! Where ya been?

Dude, I've been working my ass off, playing fantasy b-ball, and trying to have a love-life with my lady, (In that order) somethings gotta give! BY the way, Knicks games are good for the love life: "Turn that off Honey"!

But all this Mark Jackson talk hypes me up! The overachiever son of New York back in the place he never should have been traded from!

Bring it home Action Jackson!

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

oohah - I even think Mark Jackson would rip a page or two from the Looie Carnessecca (who Donnie acknowledged as part of his heartfelt New York heritage) book and be good for an emotional outburst or two... just for a perfectly-orchestrated techincal foul or two.

Hot Dog at the Garden - $4.75

Latrell Sprewell Rally Towel on Phat Farm Night - Free

Parking off Eighth Avenue and 33rd Street- $30.00

Looie pacing the sidelines, absolutely abusing his comb-over and working the refs while ripping off his sweater - Priceless

Funny thing about Looie, when he got granny-dumped by St. Johns, I was absolutely tired of his coaching. -- Now I wish SJU had anyone nearly as good as Looie since he left. He got the hometown recruits, he coached great D and okay O, and he was a NYC icon, full of personality.

I miss Looie on those sidelines, back when they were the Redmen!

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!
