I don't understand why you guys nitpick about details.
Zach this, Curry that, Marbury didn't do this, our FG% is this.
GUYS: This team is a terribly mismanaged roster, and a franchise that is ruled by a megalomaniac who would rather go down in flames than follow reasonable measures of ownership.
In lay terms - we're not a playoff team. Fuck dissecting every little thing, we're a bad team, why should anyone expect anything else?
Because I contend it might be more complex than this. You can see evidence of positives with certain lineups and players. To paraphrase tomverve on the ex-NY Times forum, One could argue that our best guard, big man and swingman all come off the bench. This means that we MIGHT not be a bad team as you suggest, but don't utilize the best players and lineups enough.
Anyway, it's called talking basketball. If you don't want to engage, no one is forcing you to do so.
Then your contention is just agreeing with what I said -- this is a POORLY mismanaged roster.
And don't overrated our bench either. We have no one in the way of an Al Jefferson, who can pass, rebound, score, and block a few shots.
And I am talking basketball, just like you are. You just don't agree with my realistic outlook that despite positives here and there, overall we're a lukewarm team full of selfish egos.
Btw, disagree about Telfair. Guy's lightning quick and poised so far.
Coaching wise, Isiah may need to make adjustments to the starting lineup. I wouldn't expect him to change it after 2 or 3 games, when Marbury and Craw have been starters for 4 years, and Nate has only recently emerged, Balkman younger and not as healthy in pre-season and Lee having to compete with a guy we just traded for who goes for 20-10...Although if we lose tonight it could happen.
You could ask if Isiah should have gotten Z-Bo, but then at the same time he's a major talent, young, and we were able to get rid of Francis' contract/attitude & the underachieving Frye. Also, We clearly need another reliable scorer besides Eddy, and really Z-Bo is a better overall player anyway.
Isiah has made his biggest mistakes as a GM with the mid-level, but I think we have some good players that have shown that they can contribute to turning us around as a team.
Your prior post was not specific to basketball talk other than "We are a bad team" which anyone without an ounce of b-ball knowledge could say based on our past record. When we talk basketball it's rarely that simple. Are none of our players any good? Won't you give this year's team a chance to see what they can do? It's not even been 2 games yet, sheesh.
What do you make of the evidence that shows us playing better with certain lineups? What if Isiah decides to make lineup adjustments? Is that worth of reason for hope? I guess I just don't see why your point of view has to be any more or less realistic than mine. Using an adhominem attack on the point of view that points to evidence of hope, while critiquing as well, is not helping win anyone over. Bring some new evidence to the debate beyond we suck, in a respectful manner and we can discuss things further.
I'm not even saying that there is no chance that we aren't bad, but there are too many signs of the contrary, even after 2 games. No question there are things that should be addressed, but maybe it's worth seeing how things pan out for a bit.
