I've never seen any evidence that Creatine is harmful

I did a quick search. Here's a link discussing *possible* kidney damage from creatine: http://www.cptips.com/creatox.htm.

Oh yeah, I've read about possible damage in theory from creatine, high protein diets, or even filtered water.

From what I gathered, it's not been proven. And yes, if you run scared from every theory, you'll never eat, drink or breathe fresh air again.

Well there was a study done not long ago that found out taking regular multi-vitamins everyday puts you at higher risk for prostate cancer. Google that and see what comes up.

You know everything is bad for you. Some tap water tastes like dirt, some tastes like sugar. Avion spring water tastes like crotch sweat.

I say put the transfat back in our food!

I haven't read through the entire thread. So sorry if my comments seem a little disjointed from the topic at hand.

In my personal experience I've always played sports seriously played soccer and basketball growing up, 3 sports through all of high school and b-ball through college. Since finishing playing basketball competetively I've maintained one edict:

Keep things simple. I've never used supplements from some reason I had these bad thoughts of growing hair on my chest and developing an Adam's Apple. I eat pretty much what I want (keep in mind that I don't have this huge appetite either. I goto the gym now about 3 times a week. If its nice out I'll try to walk around instead of hopping in the car. I take the stairs instead of getting on elevators (witin in reason of course). Just very basic stuff. Just very basic stuff now but than again I can be an energy bunny.

Most of my work out consists of two different routines. The straight cardio with some strength training. I hit the bike and treadmill for about 20 minutes apiece. I try to do both at a somewhat high level. I don't do heavy weight lifting but more of lifting just to maintain my body tone. So just some arm curls, leg presses, calf lifts, a few other upper body exercises. Of course I do a few sets of abs. Though I have to take a more unconventional route because my back always starts to kil e doing the basic sits ups.

My other work-out is a play ball either a one one one or in a pick-up game. Basketball will give you some of the best conditioning especially if your playing with some semblance of effort.

So my bottom line for getting in shape is don't cheat. Popping pills, chugging mysterious liquid, or on a more drastic level getting surgery are all short-term solutions with possible negative effects in the long run. Grind it out try to establish a healthy lifestyle and instead of focusing on having a body like Brad Pitt (though I wouldn't be complaining looking at a body like that) try to find the right balance of eating right along with working out.

Cool. You are in great shape by the way. Growl

I have a complex, Lol. I used to be in great shape befor my son was born. I'm talking cardio wise. I'm always tinkering with my life to find a way to get it in. I'm a basketball junkie too and its killing me that I cant go out and bust ass like I want to. I am gaining muscle pretty good though. Lifting weights is easy.

Anyway, as an update on my progress.....I was doing so well with my diet then it just went downhill the last 3-4 weeks. I love cake! I actually made it to my goal of 18% body fat, but now the **** is back up to 24% again. When they say its harder to lose than to gain they sure wasn't lying.

As always back to the drawing board. Hopefully I can work out something where I can reach some of my cardio fitness goal.

Just set different goals don't focus too much on the finish line. When your doing your cardio push yourself don't give yourself a heart attack but a little sweat and some soreness never killed anyone. I see people get on the treadmill talking and reading magazines don't be like these people. Focus on your task if you can put in a hard 10 15 minutes of cardio I think thats successful day's work. You just build one week you do maybe 10 15 of moderate and just move up in either intensity or time length.

^its about getting up to do it. I just say "**** it".

I have a plan though. A new improved plan that involves setting 5 alarm clocks 1 minute apart that forces me to get up early in the morning to hit the pavement. Hopefully its out the door and not the window.

I don't really look to the finish line too much. What is the finish line anyway? The finish line would be the last thing I do before I die.

I always hit my small goals. Like strength goals. I wanted to do 200lbs on the leg extention machine and did it 8 times. That was my basketball goal. What's hard is the wind part of the game. I believe I got it this time.

Alright folks. I said I would be doing it, and now I'm doing it. I'm on the official members list of this thread. I restarted going to the gym yesterday. Worked on bis, shoulders, abs and ran on the treadmill for 10 minutes. I'll increase a minute each day. Today, I plan on doing it for 11 minutes.

I'm starting short, b/c I went for a real LONG run on the tread not too far back ago, and I started getting dizzy a couple of times, and light headed. I'm just gonna ease into that and increase it by a minute each workout.

Starting weight. No clue. I went on 2 scales yesterday. One said 250 (The scale was one of those things that weighed both of my sides. One side was 130 and one was 120.) and the other scale said 260 and that was a regular digital scale. So I'll just say I'm 255 now. No particular target weight loss. 200 would be real nice, but just tone up, get in better shape and fulfill the potential that I have.

Gotto show some will power with the dieting. No more fast food.

Motivation factors:
-Look at chicks at the gym.
-Feel good at the end of the day.
-Get stronger.
-Become a better athlete and get in shape for a bball league b/c it's something I've been craving. When I was in high school, I was only 200 lbs and a really good athlete. I see no reason I can't get back to that.

6'4" along with what people say is a very wide frame. Hence the potential that I gotto fulfill. My problem is fast food and being consistent. Time to make the change now.

That's good Allanfan.

My problem is I'm a binge eater. I do really well with the whole diet thing, then for a week I'm hungry like a hostage and eat nonstop. I crave cake like im pregnant.

Maybe you eat too little or reduce calories too fast when dieting if you feel really hungry. I haven't read much about dieting because I never needed to diet but I think people recommend dropping your daily calorie total by a small amount like 250 per week until you start losing weight. Then don't drop again until you stop losing weight.

I just give up empty calories and like snacks and sweets. That alone works wonders buy then I get a taste of something, and then the next day I'm in Duncan donuts buying a box of donuts. Yes I eat them in one shot. The cravings are crazy. I feel like a feen when I say I could stop anytime. Its something that I can fix, as soon as I burn my taste buds off.
