i have a feeling it's Jefferies that goes back into the starting rotation now & Q Rich will slide over to the 2G... that's not what i want obviously, but i have a feeling Isiah's gonna go that route.

That would be so dumb. The thought of 40% of our starters being Isiah's disasterous MLE signings makes me want to puke. Maybe we can find a starting spot for Vin Baker too.

re: what some people have said about Wade.

obviously it's not the same thing, but as far as what Crawford means to the team as being a playmaker/iniator/shooter, it's pretty devastating. we're not in the same league as the Heat if Wade and Shaq are healthy, we're about a .500 team if everything goes right. this is a major guy to lose, one of the four corner stones of the team, flawed as those corner stones may be.

You can kill Isiah, when you have to watch guys like Jefferies and James even get minutes and be knicks for the next four years. See a guy like francis eating up a roster spot for no reason. You can't afford to just throw away roster spots. And Channing Frye is not a good player, i will stand by that one no matter how good he becomes. I still say we could have top 3 protected the pick, no one thought we were going to be that bad last year so i don't believe it, and don't think you need to take on bad assets to get ok players, thats why i am upset. And you don't do favors to agents of players that haven't accomplished anything in the league and just do things to do them.....

And David Lee is much more important than crawford, You act like its hard to score 18 points as a guard if you are shooting all the time and doing at 40%. And 4.5 assist to almost 3tos is nothing great, he plays o defense so why is everyone acting like we just lost someone that can't be replaced...

Lee does two things better than almost the entire league rebound and shoot at a high percentage not to mention his is a good passer and helps get curry passes in the post, provides energy and makes the team run. So how crawford a very average guard is more important than lee i just don't know

You may want to rephrase that.

I'll go on record saying that we will be a better team without Crawford for the rest of the season. Crawford is a nice kid but he's not a percentage player. If Isiah plays this right, we can play a lot tighter. Without Crawfords 15 crazy shots per game, we can take advantage of a more disciplined style.

1 - Start Curry at C, Frye at PF, Lee at SF, QRich at shooting guard and Marbury at Pg. 2nd unit: Francis, Nate, Balkman, Frye, James.

2 - Through all our deficiencies, we have 1 redeeming factor. We rebound the **** out of the ball. And the above lineups attempt to maximize that strength. With that sort of rebounding edge, its the absolute primary job of both units have to control the tempo - and that means slow the game down to a JVG standstill - 80 fga/team. Because of our usually inferior shooting, its better to minimize possessions and keep the game close. More importantly, we get high percentage possessions that utilize Curry, reduce fastbreak errors and don't expose our transition defense.

3 - Play Steph 30 mpg and have him finish the game. Give Francis the remainder of the PG minutes and have him isolate at the top of the key/play screen and roll with Frye on EVERY possession. Rotate Lee and Frye to PF and C when Francis, Nate and Balkman enter. Play both Frye and Lee big minutes (35+) when not in foul trouble.

4 - Look carefully at shot distribution. Curry needs 20 fga. Post Q up more. On broken plays, go to Marbury/Frye pick and pop.

LB is that you???...I think LB would have done the same...I agree with all this..I really think it's important how Isiah uses players wisely and try to control the game, cut down turnovers and take higher percentage shots...I want to see Q in the post more...Good stuff..

good post. I'm not sure we'll be better, but I agree with these two points very strongly.

as soon as Lee is is healthy he NEEDS to start.

can we end this Jerome James experiment? What is the point?

edit: my biggest worry now is that QRich is hurting more than he's letting on as well. We KNOW Marbury is hurting. if those two go down, we are truly screwed.

oh, it'd be so nice to have Marcus Williams right now.

I want balkman to start with lee (if he's healthy). Bring nate and frye off the bench. balkman and Q will provide some perimeter D that we lacked with crawford out there,

This team doesn't use picks enough. Marbury/Frye are good at the pick and pop but they rarely use it. Curry's actually shown that he can finish off pick and rolls even if he has to take a dribble and two large steps, but they almost never use. No one sets picks away from the ball either.

The problem with this is mostly CURRY-based. I think you guys who think that everything is going to be okay are going to be a little surprised. I think that Jamal's contributions are very underrated. Remember, he is responsible for 18 pts, almost 5 assists and over 3 rebounds and a steal per game on the season (both starting/bench).

BUT Jamal as a STARTER is our leading scorer with 21.2 ppg (42% FG), 5 apg, 3.6 rpg, 1 spg...he also shoots FT's very well (about 84%). He has started 36 games this season...each moth this season, his FG % has increased and I think if he was injured the past few weeks, that may be why his shot was off.

All I am saying is that Jamal cannot be replaced on this team. Nate has more to's than assists and has barely over an apg. Marbury averages only about .5 apg more than JC (starter). Mardy Collins is very green. Francis' presence causes Marbury to be passive. Q's back is bad and has trouble chasing smaller, quicker 2's.

Isiah was DEVASTATED so was Marbury (I'll post the article soon). Remember, its not what Jamal Crawford means to anyone to this message board or anyone on the team for that matter....we're all fans. Its what Jamal Crawford means to his team and his value to them. Apparently, he is very intetgral to this team. Whether Jamal is a "problem" or "solution," is all in the fans eyes...he is a big part of this team as perceived by the team.

Please sign a shooter. No Nate or Mardy. Nate can join the circus and Mardy is not an BA-caliber player.

As for Crawford, it sucks but I was never a fan.

You got some great ideas, Code. What I like about the big lineup of Curry, Frye, Lee is that theres still a ton of energy off the bench with Nate, Jeffries and Balk. Although you did mention Frye in both the Starting lineup and the bench lineup, I'm fairly certain you meant for him to be in with the starters though.

It's gonna be interesting to see what Isiah does but as I've said all along, Isiah is NOT good with game adjustments, this is a HUGE adjustment coming up, so we'll see what he can do.

Its seems like quite a few posters like the big lineup. Oohah definitely prefers it. And I agree thats its the best option. Initially, it seems like a "cut your losses" experiment and, to a large degree, it is. It is a defensive fiasco, with below-average perimeter defenders and even worse weakside help. And an offensive stalemate without a sufficient complement of shooters, from either mid-range or downtown, that remains dys-functional against the zone. We've been fortunate this year that other teams haven't exploited this repeatedly.

Rebounding allows us to stay in the game. We need to become a possession conservative team because we have neither the instinctive defenders nor the dead-eye shooters to compete in a freelance exhibition. That means guarding the 3-point line strictly, even at the expense of 2s. Eddy needs to be set up in the post and have the guard clear out to avoid potential turnovers and offensive fouls. Marbury is more effective with the help of a pick or a decoy pick. In other words, pre-meditated plays that depend on spacing and shot-clock management. The game has to be slowed down.

In our offensive scheme, Frye is the potential game changer. He can shoot. And on our team, thats unheard off. He's 6-11, which means he should be open. The problem is that Frye often ends up as a decoy because, in the course of any particular play, he's not in a reliable scoring position. Put him in the pick and roll. With Marbs and Francis. Have him set the pick INSIDE the 3 pt line on the defender's left side. Then roll to 15 feet - if the big stays with him, Marbury should have an uncontested 3 or a lay-up (or Curry should have a dunk). In the event of a switch, Frye needs to drag whatever smurf is guarding him inside the foul line, catch and shoot the 15 footer.

good post.

yeah, Crawford gave this team what little swagger and confidence it had. I'd like to believe some guys can step it up but with QRich and Marbury hurting as well, we are in deep doo doo.

I really liked the way Craw was playing, other than some of his shots, but he takes the kinds of shots needed to keep teams honest. if he makes them we win, if he doesn't we lose. his inconsistency has a lot to do with the team's, but there's no denying his importance. I hope Marbury and Q can stay healthy and pray for Nate to mature a lot over the next two months.

Craw will be missed. facing the last two months is going to be tough.
