A lot of homophobics are gay because they truely do have a hatred for gay people, and the truth is, you become what you hate. That's because when you hate something, you're so fixated on it, that you're letting it wear off on you. Also, you could also be unconciously displaying your displeasure for yourself by screaming your hatred towards something, or someone or a group. It's definitely a human flaw, but it's the truth.

Homosexuality is not a religion, and the gays of the community are not out to impose this lifestyle on other people. They live their lives, maybe in weird as all hell ways, but they do it, and they're not out to spread the gayness of the world, just as we straight people are not out to spread heterosexuality. The homos and heteros are out to find a partner for themselves and that's all.

Somebody please explain to me why would someone have to promote or spread heterosexuality ? It's normal

I'm not sure about that. I'm a liberal democrat and I fight for everyone's rights, including homosexuals and other groups that I believe are unfairly disadvantaged. I am heterosexual, though (despite the gay robot jokes! )

BTW, I had no idea this thread would get 132 replies! I wasn't sure if anyone was going to reply actually. The thread's gotten pretty crazy!

Nah dude, I wasn't calling you gay. I'm not calling anyone gay. But I will say this -- some people hate themselves for who they are because they can't cope with feeling like they are not "normal". There are gay people, right now, spewing some very anti-gay things because they have no idea how to handle being gay. I'm not saying anyone here is doing that. I'm just saying that it happens.

Mark Foley doesn't think so!
IMHO anybody who's a former as you say drug abuse or boozer that has changed their life around would be a better example than someone who could would show your child an alternate lifestyle that would never allow you to enjoy your grandchildren.
Playa, I read this comment, and I just have to ask. If your child turned out to be gay, would you be happier if they lived a lie, a lifestyle more accepted by society, or would you prefer them to embrace who they are and truely be happy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian

A Christian is a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, referred to as the Christ. Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God, who lived a life befitting that of the Creator of the universe, free of sin and full of love, who at the end of his earthly life was crucified, and then on the third day, rose from the dead, and later ascended into heaven, with the promise to return.

Christians believe that Jesus offers the only path to salvation, and that it is only possible because of him. Paul of Tarsus' Epistle to the Ephesians, a key work in early development of Christian doctrine, states, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Christians believe that salvation cannot be earned, but can only come as a gift from God. Good works, however, are a result of living according to the teachings of Jesus.

Christians identify themselves as monotheistic, believing that there is one God. Most sects believe in a triune God made up of: Father (the Source, the Eternal Majesty); the Son (the eternal Logos or Word, incarnate as Jesus of Nazareth); and the Holy Spirit (the Paraclete or advocate). Today, it is estimated that there are around 2.1 billion Christians in the world making up 33% of the world population, with the largest Christian denomination being Roman Catholicism.[2]

Some Christians or denominations do not necessarily hold the above beliefs, see nontrinitarianism.

So obviously Paul was a Christian or a follower of Christ. I believe Paul possibly wrote the book of Romans and Corinthians plus the little books of the bible Galtians-Philipians and books of Thesselonians and Timothy. It may have been the Apostle Peter I'm not officially sure another Cristian or follower of Christ. I'm not trying to turn this into a sermon but if these 2 individuals were Christians and had a hand in writing the Bible why would they write in Romans Chap 1 vs 26-32 and 1 Corinthinas chap 6 vs 9-11 condemning Homosexuality if in today's society it should be natural to accept it?

The teachings of Christ are founded on his father's words. Where are those located?

That's why it's so hard and seems practically impossible to be a Christian because the cards are stacked against such ones in this world. No one wants to be told what to do/converted and everyone feels they have a personal road to salvation including Homosexuals.

It's too bad we can't work together as a society to resolve and uphold moral values without feeling that major offenses will or violence take place.

Alchohalism is a biological disease (Not psychological) because are bodies are designed to become fixated to certain things, and when they become exposed to certain substances, including nicotine, it sets off a trigger which creates the dependency for these substances. Once people start getting set on these substances, they can't just quit whenever they want because addiction is so severe. It takes extreme concentration to conquer something like that, because the BODY is in need for those substances, and it's sending the chemicals to the brain which makes us feel the need for them.

Drug addiction and alchohalism absolutely is a disease.

so in your view, Christians are infallible & their written words should be taken as Gospel by anyone who reads their message? just trying to get a hold on your argument here... you really haven't said anything in that last post to strengthen your argument.

& just to make it clear, i am NOT speaking out against Christianity... like i said, i grew up in a Christian family & both my parents are devout Christians themselves... i do believe in some key fundamental Christian ideals, but judging other people for how they live their lives is definitely NOT one of them.

Judging people for how they live their lives isn't a fundamental christain ideal at all anyway. Thou shall not judge, right? Leave the judging to thy father, not to ourselves. Hence, why do we even care if someones gay?

i know it's not a Christian ideal, but a lot of Christians seem to think it's their God given right to do it.

It's not about judging at all especially if you don't consider yourself a Christian. Just because you believe in something and try to live by it does not make you infallible. We live in the United States of America and by it's laws and break them everyday. Those who feel this is the greatest system to live in. Those who threaten that system are judged not by those who are separate from it but by those who live by it and uphold it. Many of us have ran red lights, stop signs, cheated on taxes, etc etc yet support the system are they infallible? Heck we live in a system where imperfect human beings sentence inperfect humans beings to death.

Let's just go with the assumption the Bible is true. Pontius Pilate found no crime in what Jesus had done yet the Jews said no Pilate you have to sentence him. Pilate even had a dream that told him get out of that situation and he turned him away on 3 separate ocassions. Finally he succummed to imperfect human beings, he being imperfect himself even after all evidence presented to him proved no fault. He handed Jesus over to the Jews and told them do what you feel is necessary

Similar things happen today, not in the exact manner but in the case of humans deciding for another human what should be done with them.

My point is if you call yourself a Christian and live by the teachings of Christ which are found in the Bible then obviously you don't accept Homosexuality, although you treat everyone equally the same.

Not Accepting is not the same as Judging.

Matthew 22:35
Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

That to me means you need to love the person standing next to you just as you do yourself or anyone else that is loved by you... it doesn't say "Love thy neighbor... unless he's a homosexual."

holy crap, i haven't talked so much Bible talk since church retreat back in college.

The reason I brought my christianity and religion to the topic was only to put in perspective the comparisons of racism & to the way homosexuals are treated. Not for the many reasons a lot of you guys probably think I brought christianity and religion to the topic.

I've stated many times already its not my place to judge anyone, so I don't. But im not going to lie to you guys, and say that im cool with it, or that I support it. And that I hope it becomes the norm. Just so I can fit in with everyone.

Truthfully before Tim Hardaway said his comments nobody really cared about Ameachi on this board. TMS brought up another thread on this subject and nobody seemed to really care. It wasn't until Hardaway said what he said that made a lot of you guys feel *sorry* for him. Because what Hardaway said was very wrong. But if Hardaway never says what he says then nobody on this board would really care.

no man, that's not how it works. Just because you don't particularly mention that you either support or have an understanding for something does NOT mean you DON'T support or have an understanding for somethings. That point of view is crap.
