I thought he was the same exact player as he was last year before the season even started.

Yes i can say this after watching him for 20 minutes of preseason basketball.. Yes I said it.. Crucify me.. go ahead. But this fat bastard has not improved one bit, you can see it. Its so obvious. Sad man.. Very sad..

ANYONE WANT TO DISAGREE WITH ME NOW?!??!

ACtually... I will say this - The one thing he improved was instead of getting 4 offensive fouls a game.. He prolly gets 2 now.

Other than that... SAME EXACT FAT ASS PLAYER

at the beginning of the season he was playing very good basketball... he's regressed in the past week or so... so yeah, when this thread was started, i think it was very justified in disagreeing with you... now things have changed & he's playing like the Eddy of old... go ahead & tap yourself on the back if it makes u feel better though.

The only thing he has improved is he is getting stripped less and committing less offensive fouls (still way too many tho).

Besides that, still the same!!!!!!!!

actually if you look at his stats last year, and his stats this year.. the only difference is hes playin about 5 mpg more.. and that helped his stats slightly.. .5 more rebounds... 1.5 more points... but also increased his TO.. so really.. hes just playing more.. but is the same fat ass player im sorry. I beg him to proove me wrong. Please eddy, shut me up!!!!!!!!

it's not going to happen overnight bro... u have to be patient w/this kid... he's got the skills & talent to be a dominant player... i'll take small increments of improvement over the next few years... all he needs to be right now is a consistent threat to score downlow & help draw some doubleteams to free up the guys on the perimeter... having a guy like Curry in the post should make the game easier for guys like Crawford, Nate & Francise, who's game relies so heavily on penetration & scoring, but right now this team is going through its natural growing pains as guys get comfortable w/in the system Isiah's trying to run, as well as comfortable playing w/each other... even though these guys have been together for a few years already, the constant changing of head coaches & learning of new systems has really delayed the development of team continuity that every good team has... look at the Utah Jazz & how they're clicking right now w/those young players... the past few years they were still undergoing growing pains, but now everything is clicking because they were able to stay together & build that team continuity while learning under the same head coach (a great one at that).. if Dolan & Isiah will allow this current core to grow together, & after Marbury's contract is off the books, they'll be in a good position to sign an impact free agent who could take them to the next level... just have to stay away from the spoiled primadonna underachievers & target hard workers w/a good team attitude.

To me the difference is that he is much more confident. He's not bowling defenders over. He's staying in games longer cuz he's playing better, not just longer. He's more active even tho he's not getting a ton of rebounds. You have to understand that most teams take an AWFUL lot of long range shots against us. That's leading to either no rebounds or long ones. He's not gonna chase down a lot of balls. Very few teams have any kind of post up game, so we're seeing teams like Chicago, Boston, Detroit etc. and they're more interested in jacking up shots from outside. This also cuts down on the number of shot blocks, cuz there really aren't a lot of penetrators.

If this guys keeps progressing and if he can somehow improve his FT's, he's gonna be a force in this league.

I think Eddy Curry is already a force in the league --- or at least, he's a major weapon. Leave him open, and he's gonna score. Let him catch the ball, he's gonna score a high % of the time w/ single (or even double) coverage.

One great thing about him is that we've locked him in for years at less than the max. One can only assume he'll get better w/ experience. He seems to be making strides this year-- not forcing the action as much.

While many focus on his rebounding & defense, I think the area that'll make him much better is learning how to pass out of double/triple-teams. Developing his court vision will make him more dangerous--- it'll keep defenders more honest and make his teammates better. He'll also likely draw fewer offensive fouls from forcing the issue. (Passing out of double-teams was one of Ewing's weaker facets as well; Jermaine O'Neal has issues with this as well)

I think a lot of people in this forum bring up a great point in the Shaq comparisons. Shaq is one of the greatest ever, regardless of position or era. He was putting up great #s from day 1 in the league. Curry's not as big and doesn't have the innate basketball instincts.

That doesn't mean he can't develop into an all-star and future hall of famer anyway.

techno - forget the comp[arision to Shaq. People are always eager to set the bar only with things that are famailiar.

Rather than Shaq, why not allow Curry to be Curry?

The consecutive 20 point games demonstrate positives.

Imagine what he would do with a point guard.

He's getting better... But I dont think it came from the offseason.. I think its coming from this season. That was the main point of the post - He came into camp the exact same player as he was last year.. I still stand by that

I agree other than mindset. Right from the start in the preseason he was throwing the ball out including a 4 assist game. His body has toned up since then and his post moves are night and day better now

so after he has another stretch of a few bad games, are you going to bump this thread again & say you were right all along like you already did on page 5?

It would be nice if we could capitilize on some open jumpers Curry gives us when he actually does kick the ball out. If we can start hitting those jumpers then it will be really hard to stop the inside outside game. Maybe they shouldn't shoot the 3 unless then are wide wide open. Maybe they should just blow by the man running at them and just settle for a 18-15fter.

Hitting those wide open jumpers would be the next step. Imagine we had H20 feeding Curry and Curry kicking back? That would be unreal!
