That play by Terry to save a goal in the first half was huge. Lennon came in and gave England a boost.

You're right JT was immense. That's the kind of player he is. He has more determination then the whole Knicks team put together.

Now, on the game. We were a bit too negative in the first half, but in the second half we were great. Outside of Lampard, who selfishly shot too much, the attacking movement displayed by England was great, especially after King Rooney came on. Owen needs fitness, and Gerrard needs to switch positions with Lampard and move further up the field. Stevie G was Man of the match for me, Beckham put in a hard-working display. Special praise for Aaron Lennon, who can beat anyone in the world on the wing.

Once again, Stevie G should be the real attacking midfielder coming in behind the striker with Lampard further back.

England are through, and on our day, no-one can stop us!!!!!

Argentina looking completely unbeatable. 3-0 up against S&M, and playing like its a walk in the park. If they keep playing like this. They will win the World Cup easily.

What complete crap....Again, the refs allowed a goal to be scored against Ivory Coast that was a clearly offsides...Amazing...First Agentina was allowed to score with three freaking guys offsides in the first game against the Ivory Coast and now the Netherlands...Is there any justice in this world....

Yup the refereeing was worse than an NBA game. Netherlands got twice as many fouls called against them yet no where as many yellow cards as was issued to the Ivory Coast. And what was up with him taking so long to issue some yellow cards.

And those announcers are so not funny. I'd much rather watch it in Spanish.

My thoughts are that the US better play A LOT better or it will be 1998 all over again...

I actually agreed with one of the commentators today who says they have to score early or at least first. If they get down 1-0 it will be very tough, and the record of teams in the WC who score first is VERY strong. Only 2 teams have won being 1-0 down (Australia & Saudi Arabia).

Their first touches have to be much better as well, and they have to have two forwards this time around.

On today's games...

Wow, Argentina looks like the best team in the WC right now. What a thumping they handed out to S & M (6-0). And poor Cote d'Ivoire got stuck in that group and having to play 2 of the WC favorites in Argentina & the Netherlands in their fist two matches. Some bad calls in that game overall for sure.

Hard to believe that Angola is the only African team to get a point thusfar, and they were considered the weakest of the teams that qualified from that region. If Iran can somehow tie or beat Portugal tomorrow and Angola can pull an upset of Iran in their match agains them they could
sneak in because they've only conceeded 1 goal. I don't think it's likely but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Brazil very very ordinary. Ref was the 12th man for Brazil, and the Aussies looked unlucky to lose. Sorry Silver and Guns, but on this showing, Brazil will NOT win the World Cup.

I'm not happy with the way they're playing. They don't evne look like a brazilian team. This was suppose to be the best brazilian team ever? With that said, I have a feeling they'll step up when the competition gets tougher. It would be nice if they played hard every game though

Good victory for Spain. The game was hard because of the 0-1, but they showed they have resorts to overcome.

England up 1-0, but Michael Owen apparently displaced his kneecap.

dodger: you were right, Germany dominated Ecuador. Germany looks like the best team so far. England didnt look that good today but maybe it was Sweden that was really good. I doubt they will even faze Germany! Spain also looks like a good team. Hey DarkKnicks, why isnt Raul playing more minutes? Is he injured or something? It seems like the Spanish play together when Raul is on the field.

thanks Silver! Yes I like the style they play. And the defence has been looking a lot better lately. Philip Lahm is really amazing!!! And our strikers produce! So far I liked Argentinia most, Germany def. was doing great as well so far and Spain also looks strong too!!!

I really hope for a draw between Togo and France!!! ;-)
