Hey Silver are you planing to visit Munich? We could meet for some of that traditional beverage here! And talk some Knicks!!!
There is a soccer tournament hosted in Germany this year and I am trying to attend one of those games. I am not sure which ticket I will get(Berlin, Munich or Dortmund) but chances are I will be in Munich and i'd love to drink with a fellow Knick fan.

That would be really cool!!! Keep me updated on your plans!!!!
LOL - I love how you refer to the World Championships as "a soccer tournament"!!!
How do you plan to get tickets? The lottery to get them was really crazy!!!
Munich and Berlin are really cool places and nice to be!!! Even risking to pi... off potential people from Dortmund I have to say that its not supposed to be a "nice" place to be. I have to admit that Ive never been there myself!!!

I tell you June will be really nutts in Germany this year!!!!!

I was actually trying to be sarcastic by saying "soccer tournament". It is by far the biggest sports event in the world. Its not that big all over the US but it still makes big news. One of my good friends father knows a guy that knows a guy that is connected to one of the teams. They only have like a couple of passes so I am not sure if I can get one but the way I look at it, even if I cannot make it into the stadium, it will be a great time. It will be a phenomenal experience.

I work primarily as a professional DJ for a living, for the time being, both independently at clubs/parties and in the hip-hop group(s) I am in.

I was a teacher in the Bronx for the past 3 years, but took a leave of absence to move out of NYC for a year with my wife. I'm about to start a Masters in Social Work in the Fall, and move out of teaching.

Nearly failed out of college but somehow conned my Univeristy into given me a Psychology degree. Now because of my wonderful personality I am a 31 year old and own my own Human REsource Consulting firm. I also have developed(actually watched other people develop) a Human Resource software suite that on paper is fantastic. Too bad, not many idiots are buying it. My salespeople are not performing. THAT'S IT TRADE MARBURY!

Since I have a lot of free time, I coach basketball at a prestigious private school. Doing very well. So far 3 state titles in 7 years. Looking for a DI assistant gig or a D2 starting gig. Couple interviews lined up. I'll keep you updated.

At nights I teach my 15 month old son poor grammar, how to pee where he stands, how to annoy my wife, and that anything is okay to do as long as you get away with it. I'm 6-0, my wife is 5-10 and asian. Families still don't like each other. My father is a happy loud dude who loves everyone but doesn't realize that everyone hates him. Happy times in Bippityland.
I just hope that people will like me

Silver, seriously the World Cup is bigger then you can imagine! If you want to see a mix of almost every single culture around the world all in one place, then go to Germany this summer. But if you're going to see German culture and tourist stuff, my advice is find a better (safer) time to go.

Incidentally, being from England, I know a thing or two about Scotland. Where are you going? How many people are you going with? You can arrange a Malt Whiskey tour that takes you around the best distilleries and you can sample the booze. Its a 1 day thing, so you end up soooooooooo pizzed. Macallan, Talisker, Laphroagh, Glenlivet, GlenMorangie, the works. If you want to know about single malt Scotch, I'm your man (hick!).

Scotland is beautiful. Make sure you don't just see the cities.

And a little tip. if you're not fussy about which teams you watch, look for the teams from as far away as possible, except Brazil. The further away the country is, the more chance you'll have of finding a ticket. And if you intend to try and get tickets at the stadium, a. expect to be ripped off, demand is huge, and b. its really really illegal, so don't let and cops see you.

This is getting confusing. Should he or should he not tell people, "I want you to touch my monkey!"

Monkey-touching is a cherished ritual of World Cup Football. Silver need not worry as there will be plenty of that inside the stadium. Put it this way, we don't use our hands for the Mexican wave.

Wow, I am going to be doing this all wrong firefly. I'm going to Germany for the games + touristy stuff during the busy time. I was planning on hitting only cities (2 or 3) in Scotland and I wanted to get into a Brazil vs. Japan game which they should win easy. Looks like I will be changing my plans and that Malt Whiskey tour sounds great! Thanks.

P.S: It sucks what happened to Rooney cause I dont think he will make it. What do you think your chances are this time without him?

I would say that your chances to get a pass just before the game and not being ripped off are slim to none!!! ;-)
But you are completly right to just come to Germany during this time. It will be fun regardless if you will be in a stadium or "just" in the middle of the city!!! In fact, I kind of prefer a nice sportsbar to the stadium sometimes!!!! An irish pub is sure fun to be during the championships!!! ;-)

Hey firefly are you coming too?!?

Chances!? without Rooney!? Hah! turns out he's fractured more then one bone in his foot, so its not looking likely that he'll play. For those who don't know, Wayne Rooney is only 20 years old, and he's the soccer equivalent of MJ in his prime. Simply awesome.

Silver, if you appreciate soccer, you couldn't pick a better time to go to Germany. The problems might arise if you don't care about soccer. Then such cultural hotspots such as Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin will be turned into a huge rash of football fans drinking the morning/afternoon/night away. Proper preparation for a football match starts at midday, when you meet your friends in the bar to discuss your team. The games start at between 7 and 8. That's what you can expect this summer in Germany. Oh God, I wish I was going!!!!! I'm considering flying in for the final, but we'll see.

Now Scotland is wonderful. Glasgow is scary, but Edinburgh and Aberdeen are must see. If you like golf, one of the piers jutting out into the sea in Aberdeen has been turned into an 18 hole course. The view is spectacular. But you have to see the Highlands and the Lochs. But more important than any of that is the distilleries.

And if you really like whiskey, find something called Mackillips(sp?) Choice. This guy Mackillip goes around the distilleries and selects the best barrel and they bottle it. Prices vary, but they are all amazing. Mackillips Choice Glenlivet 1979 is especially good. I know I'm going on about it, but there is nothing in this world like a good bottle of single malt Scotch whiskey. Yes, I know what DJ and Marv are going to say, but whiskey doesn't ask to cuddle afterwards.

If you're choosing, try and see one of the South American teams. Last World Cup, the best game by far was Brazil Vs Costa Rica. The skill is amazing. Or watch England if you want to see some heart and fire for all deprived Knicks fans.

Dodger, if I do come, I will post here, and we can hook up. That would be awesome.

Most of you guys I think know what I do for money. I just know if I was homeless I probably still would be saving a few dollars to go to the internet cafe on 42nd! I'm a junkie. My whole thing now is to try to get in shape to play basketball again.(I had acl surgery last year)
