The rooks are definitely getting their shine in preseason. I think the vets are slightly bemused, watching them. They're probably like, "dudes, it's a preseason game. There's 82 games starting Nov 2! Relax."

It's called pacing. None of these rookies will be starting, barring any injuries. I'd even bet that if AD does stay, a few of them won't see much burn at all until much later in the season. That said, I was proud of them and was proud that they're representing the city. Our second unit will definitely be one of the better ones in the league and that will allow us to stay in many games.

And one more thing, Steph is still our best player. And he will show it this season.

wow, I had company over the house today, big party watching football and basketball... I loved the way the kids played, I mean the mavs had a veteran team out on the floor while we basically played 5 rookies and if it were not for Diop's lucky garbage shot at the end we go into OT... David lee was all in Dirks mix, and I think it was shameless for the mavs to play KVH, Daniels, Howard and Harris the whole 4th quarter against our rookies, it really looked desperate... I am starting to love this group of guys...

good game, amazing how crawford and marbury still jack up stupid jumpers... that better change...

I was thinking the same thing exactly. I wonder how long that will last under Brown..my hope is not much longer, which is why I also agree that Crawford may be the player who will have the most difficult time adjusting to Brown's system.

Loved the rookies, doubts about Lee and Frye should be subsiding from worried Knick fans. These guys can play. Lee plays with a lot of intensity on both ends of the floor, which you have to love as a fan, and I assume Brown loves too.

Those ill advised Crawford and Marbury jumpers had me wondering about, arguably, our most important player, Curry. I caught the game partially through the first quarter and when he was out there I was wondering why there were no plays or attempts to get him the ball in the post. I don't think he had any field goals in the first half (at most, 1). I kept seeing the guards run around and pass around the perimeter, and when Jamal and Marbury, and a few times Q were taking long jumper after long jumper I kept saying to myself...HELLO we have Eddy Curry now, why are we not trying to get him the ball? Was he really that tired? I really didn't see much effort from the guards to try to get the ball down low, or was it just me?

Van Horn stil travels every freakin time. But I guess since he is not on the Knicks anymore, they refs don't have to call it now. Typical.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

My take:

Curry is out of shape but wow, what a talent! He is 22 and OURS!
Needs to box out beter and take control of the lane.

Frye - does he ever miss? Nice touch on his shot. Needs to rebound better too. 22 years old!

Lee - Future star in the league. Does it all right. If he can make a 15 ft shot he can be really good. S-M-A-R-T. 22 Years old!

Nate - I dont know if he plays too fast but he makes too many TOs. LB will not play him because of that. I like his enthusiasm but his game needs refinement. Barber looked better. 21 years old!

Marbs/Craw - Marbs is still the best PG the Knicks have. Craw looks like he is trying to play the LB way. I can see NY using a 3 guard rotation with NATE only coming in to change the pace of the game. QRich will be good for us. he is a nice player. Marbs is 28, Craw 25 and QRich 26!

Ariza - Still cant shoot but he is like LEE otherwise. 20 years old!

Rose - Looked lost, but a vet will be ok. He will play big minutes.

MoT/Penny - Can we really trade them? Who would want them.

Butler - 20 years old!! Nice shot. Good in the Post. Has Potential. Not ready yet for big minutes. But can be the 12th guy on the bench.

The team is young and they play hard. I still think this teams needs a rebounder at the 4. Unless Lee can do it. They missed a lot of defensive rebounds yesterday.

Diop looked good for Dallas. He is a new player!

I woulnd't say that Steph is jacking up dumb shots. Steph is a very effficient player. As for the team overall, Its just a matter of the Knicks offense not yet being in sync. The Mavs were actually playing better D than a lot of you think. They were not allowing the knicks to make passes to Curry in the post. They shaded their defense to his side of the floor and by clogging things up and constantly digging down on Curry they disrupted his game. In time the Knicks will learn how to adjust to that and still get him the ball. Often times their spacing was HORRIBLE. Just remember they haven't had him all that long and we haven't had a real post threat in a while. He demands so much attention from the other team that you're going to see a lot of open shots on the perimeter.

JC did throw up 1 or 2 awful shots. I think eventually he'll learn not to force the issue. I noticed that he started driving more later in the game. Overall I wouldn't get too concerned by some of those things, cuz LB will eventually beat those bad habits out of our players. You have to give him time. Lets try to show a litttle more patience guys. This thing is a process and its just getting started.

Frye, Lee, Ariza, Curry and even James will have a wonderful season with Marb leading the pack....I don't know about Crawff, because I don't believe that he is smart enough to know what to do on the court. Nate will have a lot of issues playing under Brown also, because he has that street mentality just like Crawfford.

Refinement is a good word for it, but he's got the essentials and I think LB will let him work out the kinks because he puts relentless pressure on the other team on both sides of the court. It's the same stuff that Larry always loved AI for and forgave him for his nutty stuff a million times over. I think Nate should keep driving but look a little earlier for cutters. But really, Nate was spearheading that comeback, he had his heart on the line, going for it on evry single play. He willed them back into a tie!

And I'm still getting a kick recounting his routine at the foul line! What was it - kiss the hand, rub the tatoo, whip the ball around your back around 3 times, bounce it 3 times, deep breath, then shoot? And then when he missed one, his expressions were like a 14 year old all PO'd at himself? That was priceless!

And that whipping up the crowd with his arms? DId you guys catch the shot of Marbs and Craw on the slidelines standing, watching him, with big grins on ther aces? Priceless! One of the allures of pro basketball is the emotional bonding that the fans make with the players - this guy's already turning on everyone more than anyone I've seen here since Mark Jackson's rookie year.

HC - perfect picture! Imagine for a second if KVH had General Lee's attitude on the court? WHEW! He'd actually be worth his salary!

How was the feeling in the Garden? Was the crowd as pumped as it looked on the tube?

Yeah man, there was definitely a good vibe in MSG last night! It felt like a season game, only that I am sure that it'll be ALOT more crowded this season (hardly anyone was in the 400's up top). Everyone's spirits were up, and were still upbeat for the most part after the Diop tip--in (some of us grumled about the KVH shot looking like a walk). The main scoreboard still read 102-102 when I left (although they announced that the shot was good, I quickly exited the arena to preserve the moral victory in my mind. ).

Oh yeah, and the raised the price of the Prime Rib sammiches a dollar. Damn inflation!

it wasn't that play, but yeah, he jumped out of bounds chasing a rebound, grabbed it spun around and winged it off Devin Harris' head! The ball bounced up like 15 feet in the air and Diop fell out of bounds trying to save it. Great play.

It's funny that Nate is playing the most like a nervous rookie right now. Lee and Frye practically seem like old pros.

Lee reminds me of Bill Laimbeer. I only wish he can learn how to shoot like him.

Excellent analogy. OR Frye as Salley. Nate as Vinny.

Guys! I like Lee too, but can we be objective and realistic? No need to hate on KVH...

KVH is much better than people around here seem to think. No, he will not be beating anyone up soon, but he still plays pretty well. If David Lee put's up numbers similar to any of KVH's NBA seasons he and we should be happy:
