And remember, after the first 100 posts about trading Crawford - we all understand. No need to for the next 800.

There must be some unwritten rule that states every messageboard requires at least one poster with an overbearing theme to harp on. The minute Dido takes off, Bobs fills right in. No offense Bobs, but Dido is way more entertaining.

This thread is way outta control

.......which is just fine by me.

I can promise one thing - there is no ****in way I'm posting on this board come September.

Besides, I already promised myself that if the Knicks don't look like a contender by late August I'm cutting back bigtime on caring about them. Oh, I'll be optimistic -- while I'm doin shots off some girls teets.

Anyway, I think we can all agree, even Hoss - WE'RE NOT THE 99 KNICKS. Period. End of sentence. Good night everybody.

That was a special team. I feel the same way about them as I do about the 87 Celtics. Ohhh, cheap shot at Isiah.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

We need to focus 100% on improving the frontcourt. Marbury/Nate, Q/Crawford will win us more games then lose.

After we improve the frontcourt then we could start nit picking at guard position.

Fowards-LJ, Kurt, Camby, Spree
Guards- Ward & Childs great defenders
Centers: Ewing and Dudley

This may be totally out of context but...Ward and childs were not great defenders. They were downright bad. They were feasted on by every point guard in the league. Mark Jackson ate them alive for about 4 years in a row. Remember?

Dudley barely played when he was with the Knicks.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Ward was a great system and help defender. Ton of defections and hard nosed play. Childs was excellent on the ball and could always slow the other teams offense. Both were good defenders and did different things. Neither was as good as Harper who was down right dirty, but both were capable.

Ewing's size and shotblocking, Camby's atheltism and shotblocking, LJ & KT post defense and LJ's ability to guard the perimeter as well. Those guys made it easy for Ward/Childs, Houston & Spree. Thats why when Camby & LJ turned into KT & Spoon. All our guards & Sprewell were eatin alive. Which is why we need to improve our frontcourt #1. Like go after Maglorie.

Dudley did get burn after Ewing went down. He was good for not allowing layups while Camby got his rest. He was effective as he would foul so hard that he made Pgs heisitate just enough to help out the guards.

Well, I guess our memories are going to disagree on this one. I remember point guard after point guard having their way with Ward/Childs, game after game.

Usually when someone is described as a "great system defender" it means they can't play man to man vey well, especially guards. But Ward was a good system defender.

Childs played excellent defense until he showed up on the Knicks. He was still good at getting steals and such, it was just the constantly being posted up and gambling for steals and getting beat that hurt him.

I think folks are mostly remembering our backourt defense fondly while forgetting that Starks was the real defensive anchor for much of those years. He was a real defensive player, taking on guys he gave up 3 inches to all the time.

Harper was an excellent defensive player as was Rivers.
Dudley did get burn after Ewing went down. He was good for not allowing layups while Camby got his rest. He was effective as he would foul so hard that he made Pgs heisitate just enough to help out the guards.

That is true. I don't mean to malign Dudley, I think he was a decent player who never got a fair shake from the officials.
