I think we need to stick with no crowds large gatherings and even with vaccine keep up vigilant mask wearing hand washing and if at all possible social distancing. It’s not gone but society is starting to get ahead of itself w this.

When you have a society that doesn't know its own history, you're bound to repeat it. We've been here b4...and we've seen the results of trying to come back to normal too fast.

Totally agree. I'm wondering if mask wearing, social distancing, mega hand washing/sanitizing should be something we do from this point on period regardless of the status of the virus. I've never been to another country, but folks in the US are just straight nasty hygiene-wise. I'm cool with getting rid of shaking hands and we just tap elbows instead.

There’s a guy in my office that routinely leaves the bathroom without washing his hands. I call him “dick fingers”, and tell everybody not to shake his hand.

I don’t miss dick fingers one bit.

We had a senior partner yeas ago in my office who never washed his hands. Once upon a time it was cute to have a big ass M&M bowl at the receptionist and given his arrogance would not use the spoon provided. Nope, he just grab a handful after his visit from the restroom.
I took the bowl one night and put it in his office with a note “when you don’t wash in the men’s room and stick your fingers in the bowl its apparent you want everyone by proxy to touch your penis. These are now all yours. Enjoy.
HIs assistant saw it first so word got out.
He came in early (not early enough) and took bowl back.
For days it did not get touched.
A week later I put it back with another note: “nobody will touch them as they know this is your bowl”.
He returned them anyway.
Week later I took the M&M’s and put it in a plastic container and back on his desk. And the bowl sat empty.
Year later he died of sepsis.
I took the bowl out and filled it with mini “fun size’ M&M’s.
RIP.

I found out yesterday that I could get the vaccine and set an appointment for the next day. I got my first injection this morning and honestly the injection site felt slightly weird for a few but that's it. I would most likely attribute my arm feeling weird to having a needle jabbed in it.

So many examples:

* The cashier or bank teller who licks their fingers when counting out bills to hand to you.
* The person at the office birthday party who cuts the cake and uses their fingers to help put the slice on your plate.
* There's the "close talker" who has to get within an inch of your face to converse with you.
* There's the person in church who is hacking and coughing and sounds like they're on their death bed but can't miss a Sunday and thinks they've done their part by not shaking your hand. Like the millions of germs they coughed into the air didn't happen.
* There's the person who doesn't watch their kid at the restaurant buffet and doesn't pay attention to what he/she is doing.
* People who don't clean up after their dog.
* The person who sees something on your face and rather than just tell you about it, they take it off themselves.
* The person at the gym who won't wipe off the machine after using it.
* My biggest pet peeve are cigarette smokers who just throw the butts on the ground or out of their car window. Like do you really not consider that to be trash?

I could go on and on.

I definitely agree that the events of 2020-21 will lead us to all be a little more careful with communicable hygiene (dick fingers aside of course). The drop in flu rates this year alone should really inform our behaviour in the future.

Do I think we'll all be like Chinese and other East Asian tourists and everyone will wear masks in the airport, no I don't, but I do believe that there may well be a long lasting positive effect on Public Health because of the past two awful years.

A tiny silver lining to appreciate while we all gloomily live through the apocalyptic present.

Luckily I don’t plan to leave the house again. It’s very peopley out there.

I don't mind people, just wonder why so many want to share their germs.

The one on April 6 is actually everyone over 16.

That is huge news if that’s true.

The CVS website makes it pretty straightforward to schedule vaccination. If you have problems getting an appointment, I think you'll have better luck trying earlier in the day. As in, I think new slots are made available starting at 6AM every day.

Also, when you get to a page that has a search button (a magnifying glass) keep hitting it and you'll see new appointments at different locations pop up. I kept hitting every minute or so until a nearby CVS popped up.

Just scheduled a moderna vaccine shot for Monday, which is round 1 for me. If you know me, you know I have been a pretty big advocate for taking the vaccine. Doesn’t stop me from being kinda f’ing nervous. Raising my Dunkin Donurs iced coffee for the best!
