Yet Bobby Marks saying if Leon tells Julius to decline his option and we will give you 3 for $100M that Julius should take the offer.

Said Julius can play this out and take this to free agency in 2 years but he’ll be 2 years older and Marks thinks he should jump on guaranteed $ now.

Was kind of shocked by this but at a minimum tells you a bit what Marks thinks of Julius and his leverage.

I would certainly trust your opinion over a guy like Mark's with literally no NBA cap management experience.

I don't know more than Mark but $33M per for 3 years is not thoughtful. That's more of a pay cut than Brunson without the relationship stuff going on, so it's more of an insult offer than a real offer.

At this point in the game, Brunson and Mikal (most likely) will be underpaid but they got return in their situation, so their is some level of fair exchange going on. Knicks need to reach that point with Randle. $100 for 3 years is not that.

No doubt its a risk. Amare wanted 4 years from Suns but they only offered 3 given his knees and back issues. This was a medical opinion and it proved to be spot on. Amare was consolation prize after we wiffed on Lebron.
We gave him 5 as it has been said he would go back to suns for 3 if he could not get 5 from us.
PG13 I don't believe has any degenerative injury concerns other than age and perhaps the expectation is he plays 65 games or so.
Waiting for him in Philly is very young Allstar soon to be all NBA Maxey and (Hate him or not) Embiid who is still a top 3 MVP player if he makes it 65 or more games. Amare came to a young team that was soon gutted when Melo was traded.

PG13 if resigned to LA was very much about money. He wanted it and LA was going to the second apron and thats a bad place to be if you not contending for real.

I get the comparison but Philly on paper is a legit contender were knicks were middle of the pack.
Things have to all work out for them to win it, but thats true with most of the league.

Not to mention that even before free agency, it was somehow leaked that no insurers were willing to have anything to do with Amares contract. You can't really have more of a red flag than that.

The similarities between Markannen and Randle stop at the fact they both play PF. 23 & 8 off 39% 3pt and a .631 eFG on 25% usage is elite. Markannen is among the most efficient players in the game with elite positional size.

And, I would argue his contract this year is about hitting the league minimum payroll (they were short 24mm), and that he actually took a discount in the remaining years since they paid him the extra 24mm this year.

I think Utah had to know that Markannen would absolutely get max contract offers from any team that is using eFG as a guide to efficiency. I think Randle MAY get something close, but its more circumstantial and the number of teams capable of paying him next year are far fewer. Siakam figured out how to get paid, so Randle will too. Similar player models. I value Randle more than Siakam, but Randle's shot selection and court awareness is worse, which makes his stats look depreciated.

Doesn’t seem like much out there for Randle unless the nets get weird and decide they need to spend their money somewhere. Randle needs a team to use as leverage to get any leverage back. Ultimately he’s a CAA client and if there’s no real offer out there elsewhere, I would think there’s a common ground somewhere between Randle and the Knicks. If bridges signs a similar extension that Brunson did, then maybe the compromise for Randle is a contract in the range of both bridges and Brunson. So about 40M per year. Is a 3-year extension at 120M off of his player option fair ? So 4 years 150?
