I hear you. And smart money is that they are waiting for recently traded players to become available to be re-traded again to see how the market fleshes out.

And I don’t know if they made offers and got turned down. But a guy like Huff taking a 2Way sit behind both Edey and JJJ seems like missing a free option.

Just makes me curious. A lot of fall back options and way way way back options disappearing.

Two ways don’t count against the cap. And can be converted to an NBA contract. I’m not saying this FO doesn’t deserve a little leeway. I think we can also ask “I wonder what they are thinking” here.

They have Robinson, Sims, RFA rights to Achiuwa, Huk on a Two-Way, some rights to Skap.

And I don’t want to cry over guys we can’t sign. But for Memphis to lock up Huff on a 2Way is a solid move, one I wish we made. Maybe Huk at 22 years is better than Huff at 26. Maybe they have a deal in principal for Larry Nance once he can be traded with other players.

Tons of possibilities, still. But I think they need to roster another C (or 2) and am curious what the FO has in mind. Do they not think they need it with Achiuwa?

Why is locking up Huff any better than having Sims and Huk on a 2-way with time already invested in Skap? It legit feels like a random big addition.

Huff is not good at setting picks. Denver, who is bereft of big men and who just lost their big man trade-up draft guy, didn't bother to bring him back even though they are desperate for big men and already got burned by losing iHart years ago?

Teams can legitimately only invest their coaching resources in so many guys. And why would Huff even look at NY given their C position that is already 4-5 guys deep? To me, that's the pure definition of random big man addition.

I guess where a person exists in the depth chart is as relevant as how deep it is. Could be wrong, but Huff looks like he could be 2 or 3 on our depth chart.

Looks like Denver has Jokic, Saric and Jordan with a number of PFs already.

Let me put the question differently. Do you think the Knicks are set at C? If not, what do you think they are doing?

I'd guess that the Knicks are set in the 2-way, 3rd string style backup centers. After Sims and Huk, it's just warm bodies (and you can only have so many of those type guys in Westchester/end of bench). This is from the perspective of a deep playoff team, so realistically, any of those guys are just warm bodies and perhaps not strong long term backup solutions with an obvious caveat for development track upside.

Precious will be involved as a part of the Knicks backup solution. Whether on the roster for the start of the season as a small ball C, via S&T that involves a bigger trade, or mid season in conjunction with other players that net a C.

As an aside, for me, McBride is too valuable to the Knicks to just include him in a not too well thought out deal that nets a C. Somehow I feel like any major moves made by Knicks may involve him.

He will be back here and it will be around 6-8mm bucks. We try it out and if it's not working, somewhere midseason we may see a Precious+Deuce or Precious/Deuce/Pacome for Robert Williams III. I see Time Lord as the target for us if he's healthy. Very similar to Mitch, maybe a bit better on passing/finishing. Very surplus in Portland, but waiting out injury.

Knicks don't need to find "that guy" so fast.
Im not in the camp that "Season is failure if we don't win a chip". There is 3 year window at the moment and confident something will fall into place.
I think 30 games in we'll have a good idea of its potential and perhaps what we'll need going forward.
We are not small yet.

Not ready to lament on Jay Fooking Huff!!! Not when we got Skappy lined up!!!!

For that very reason alone I think there is zero chance the Knicks go there. Multiple year contract too
