Your not confused, the legions of blogs, threads and tweets measuring the body of work from past great teams and the nature of the "superfriends" in fabricating their own team puts ones opinion above another?

4 straight finals is nothing unless you win them.

Nalod thinks Heat are not so great but Lebron is and is carrying them on his back. Wade is stepping up when needed. Its not an organic flowing team SAS or other great teams of the past.

Lebron is on Mount Rushmore but until his career is finished can one really measure what he is doing. This is not college ball when "Making the final four" is a big deal. Lose in the finals is rarely given much cred.

I'm not sure if this is how you feel, but I don't think its fair to knock a player down a few pegs on the 'best player to ever play the game' list just because his team lost in the finals. Seems to be too much in a vacuum. What were the other factors? Opposition? etc...

It reminds me of Wilt. "He" lost to the Celtics many times and was the greatest player of his generation but the Celtics were often the better team. "Jordan never lost in the finals".......We hear that a lot, but at the same age he had been to just three while this is lebrons 5th.

Maybe this golden standard of Jordan is the baseline to which all are compared to. At 6-8 260 and an effective court distributor This guy is just amazing!

MOre than Jordan? Lets let his career pan out before we start that.

jordan went to college (3 years) and missed most of his 2nd season to injury and a mid career retirement later, lebron was a hs'er so age comparisons are not equal.

THat speaks to Lebrons strength. Dude was NBA ready at 18.

Lebron don't break legs. Jordan and LEbron are amazingly durable.

Lebron was "Choking" in the finals at an earlier age. BUt still was in the finals.

Lebron's teams are inferior to Jordans Bulls.

Wilt was unstoppable until he ran into the Celtics.

If Heat win, beating SAS two years in a row, a team that had the best record and a long track record of greatness, does that give "Ali his Frazier"? On the other hand have we simply made Jordan the golden standard and all others before or after don't measure?

I say lets wait until lebron retires before we are done. I think we might look at Lebrons series losses with more cred when we realize his teams don't get there without him.

Basketball is a team game.

Lebron flops. MJ don't flop; MJ cuts your heart out to win.
Lebron overheats, cramps up, takes himself out and loses. MJ plays with 104 degree temperature and wins.
These things will not be erased, no matter what LeQ does with the rest of his career.

Wilt was unstoppable until he met Russell. Wilt would score a hundred points, but the opposition would score 140 points in that game.

The NBA threw everything at MJ. Blazers, Utah, Lakers, Suns. It didn't matter. The standard stands.

Bulls win nothing without MJ.
Celtics couldn't make the playoffs before Russell came and took them all the way.

With rare exceptions, your basketball team is only as good as your star.

The bullls were favored to beat houston in 94 without jordan but Hugh Hollins had his money on the knicks.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

YOu can't win by yourself, even Wilt!

Wilt didn't lose to russell, His team lost to the Celtics.

Maybe Jordan didn't lose in teh finals, but maybe he could have gone to more?

Bulls won 72 games one year!!!! Not "Jordan".

The leauge is inferior now? Thats subjective. We tend to look back with greater love and lose subjectivity. THe years melt into one era.

The "Dream Team" was a defining moment. BIrd was on his last legs and Isiah was close as well. It might be the "Golden era" of stars and "leauge is not as strong" might be correct, but how do we measure that? The stars? the Teams?

Lebron physically can do a lot more than Jordan. At 6-8 260 he is a monster. He can guard all 5 positions. He is the best defender on his team. Jordan had pippen.

If winning is the standard then Russell gets the nod not Jordan. If the individual talent and stats are the standard, then Wilt gets the nod as the most dominant force to ever play the game.

were does that leave Jordan? The greatest of his generation on a team he was the best player on. Deserving of MT Rushmore. Lebron? The greatest of his generation and a career in progress. Does he get a spot on the MT? Whats the Criteria?

The Heat havent scored 100 points yet.

I would try Michael Beasley on the 2nd unit--they are getting very little--give him 15-18 minutes and cut minutes off of Ray Allen--29 is way too much for him 18 -20 and cut a few minutes off Andersen

With rare exceptions, your basketball team is only as good as your star.

if and when the spurs win, tim duncan will have won 5 titles since 1999. that isn't rare. even 4 titles in the last 15 years is not rare.

is duncan a star as far as your standards are concerned?

Are the Spurs winning 4 rings without Tim Duncan? Not likely. Yes, Tim Duncan is a star. Is Tim Duncan winning 4 rings without Pop & crew? Possibly. He's that good, and does that many things incredibly well.

And don't read me wrong, LeBron is a Mt. Rushmore level star, but the point at hand is whether he's equal or better comparable to Jordan. Tired old subject, but I have my opinion, which was stated.

Toney D should think about starting a nice career in Europe at this point. Chalmers and Cole are brutal. TD can't take minutes from these palookas, so what does that make him?

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Chalmers and COle are usually okay. I think they both might have something going on in their lives. I know Cole friend and cook just passed away. I am not sure what is CHalmers problem is.

The Spurs taking Old School to the next level!!! I just saw them use the Triangle to perfection on one of their last scores. They're executing every old school BB play you can think of. Constant ball and player movement at pace so the defense can't catch up.
