It was only a matter of time before Playoff Brunson made his debut this postseason. He was vintage in that 4th quarter and some of those moves were just nasty! Especially that cross over and up and under move on Johnson. OG was great again. If he has the ball near the basket, he is going to dunk it! And his corner three is automatic! This game went to show you we don't necessarily need KAT to take a lot of shots but he needs touches. KAT was outstanding! Very impressed and hyped by his defense (2 steals, 2 blocks)!

Bench was great! Mitch had some nasty dunks and GTA5 had a stretch there where he hit back to back shots and played suffocating defense! The team defense holding them to 98 points (96 points in game 4) was as good as it's been this season. McCollum had no room and always had two bodies in his space.

I expected this to be a long series and originally predicted Knicks in 7 but I feel good about ending it 6. I think we have them figured out. They cannot handle our defense or battle on the glass. We outrebounded them 48-27! They also have no answer for our halfcourt sets with KAT initiating the offense from the left wing.

Yeah, and Reggie Miller kept hoping and predicting that every Hawks basket was the start of a run. "Here they come!" Fuck you, Reggie!

He had one strong drive to the basket that left me hollering. Why is he not doing more of that?

Ask not what Atlanta can do to Mikal, ask what Mikal can do to the Celtics!

Driving is not his game, but it seems like we're trying to force some buckets for him to get him going. We only have so many possessions to try it out before we have to change the page. He won't look right until he starts hitting that corner 3.

He's been doing a decent job of denying NAW the ball and keeping him from torching us. But yeah, we need more.

Certainly looked like his game when he did it!

Knicks make back to back buckets in the 3rd. Hawks hit a 3 to trim the lead to 14 (down from the 16 point lead a few minutes prior).

Yeah, I was audibly telling TV Reggie to STFU too.

I'll take it over the fadeaway middy (although that ****ing shot was automatic for him for a while)

Or a reason to fire the coach! LOL........
Or longing looking forward to next season!

I'd be more confident up 3-1 so no smack talking from me at least until we done wit ATL.
They will dig their heals at home (or at least that 60%!) and won' go without a fight.
Game 7 even in MSG is too freaky a thing.
Knicks need to keep it tight early and then let nature take its course.
ATL wanted knicks? Well, lets give it them!!!!!

been quite the turnaround. Not getting into foul trouble by moving these giNormous feet and staying vertical makes a huge difference. No short cuts and KAT obviously been putting in the work. That and staying on his feet to finish drives.

I One might assume 2-9 stretch was an ego check and they had to look in the mirror and fix things.
Not sure Mikals issues are resolved in full but winning is the goal and the rest can wait until summer!

100%, KAT doesn't need to take 20 shots for us, he just needs to facilitate and defend. the FGA's will come if he does that, and they will be high % shots and he'll be more efficient. When KAT starts "looking for his" he ends up barreling into opponents and taking low % shots.

Great game by JB. Truly one of the best scorers around.
It is crazy how he took more shots than KAT,OG and Bridges combined.
But no complaints here since it lead to a complete beat down of the Hawks.

Hopefully other Knicks will have it going when teams make it a goal to take him out of the offense.

yes but in other games he was forcing the issue, making bad situations worse

most of his points yesterday seemed more in flow of game and in flow of his capabilities.

I think the last two games showed how potent we are when we move the ball and the opponent has to guard literally everyone as opposed to just beating up, trapping, blitzing Jalen

Even yesterday Jalen continued to have problems as soon as he passed midcourt. Atlanta is effectively using the half court line and the sideline to paint him in a corner and consume valuable time on the shot clock

Mikal will bounce back. People need to relax. If we meet Boston in a series he will be critical

Night and day from last year.

Not for nothing but I'd bet the main goal of the season in terms of which player the coaching staff would spend the most time integrating into their plan would be getting the best version of KAT going. This was the #1 task for Brown and staff, with everything else either already well established or known and just fitting them around him while doing the best things for them too.

Last night was the goal and now they have to figure out how to maintain it with all the best teams planning and playing against them. Don't want to get ahead but Mazzula got a lot more tools to try.

night and day from even a couple of months ago really. We are best when KAT is looking to facilitate and defend. he went through such a horrid stretch where he was just trying to barrel into defenders and score every time AND not defending. I had lost almost all hope with him.

Interesting to see Shamet relegated to the bench after being such a big piece all season. He shoots at an elite level, defends and can handle the ball, don't understand why he's not getting ANY minutes.

Maybe the next series will provide more op for him.

I'd guess injury and just not getting his Stella groove going on.

My 2 cents: I think Clarkson is in when Brunson is out. I think they see him as a guy who can generate his own offense. I am a Shamet fan but he does not generate his own offense. Also Clarkson has stepped up his game in other areas which got his ass unglued from the bench. Shamet is still super important but perhaps a different series

Yup. Those cuts to the basket and KAT hitting him will come. Right now they are running that for OG but Bridges can do that too.

KAT, more so than JB, takes what the defense gives him, especially if he touches the ball consistently. When JB plays keep away that's when problem starts and KAT is more likely to drive to the hoop

One thing the Knicks need to integrate IMO, if Atlanta (or whoever else) decides to guard KAT with a smaller guy, as Dyson was doing in the high post, they need to have a counter to punish that. The obvious choice would be something like a clear out and letting KAT back the ball down but I'm sure there are many others. The situation is begging for something

Right. Also if we play faster he will be open for those corner 3s when we have numbers. Dyson stopping JB in his tracks has eliminated that

This was the most impressive performance by the combination of Brunson, KAT, and OG I can remember. It’s like a fully realized version of what this team can look like when our best 3 players all compliment each other perfectly, even when we aren’t getting good performances from guys like Deuce and Bridges. Just need to put it all together.

I found myself wondering the same about him and the other characters we had over the years. Life gets in the way often. The pessimist in me often wonders how many other Crushalot's are out there that use to be regulars once upon a time.

Sure, but there has def been and should be times where he is getting more featured offensively. Like when JB is resting and the 2nd unit needs more juice. As well as times when the offense has stalled. We *should* be able to go to a JB & KAT pick and pop letting KAT get up catch and shoot attempts.

Can't have it where the offense is stalling out and KAT is simply being a decoy. If the offense is stalling then set KAT up with catch and shoot pick and pops.
